User Profile: Kate
Kate September 1st, 2018

Each year, over 44,000 people die by suicide in the United States alone.

For every one person who dies by suicide, 25 people attempt.

The World Health Organization estimates that over 800,000 people die by suicide each year worldwide.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Together, we can open up the conversation about mental health and suicide

We want to know about your Reasons to Stay. By sharing your reasons, maybe others will be inspired to find their reason to stay too.

What is your Reason to Stay?

I have thought about this many times in my life due to my mental and physical Health but I end up doing the self positive talk and telling myself that I have alot to live for even if some days are darker than others. I have a wonderful son and daughter inlaw and people who need me to be there for them because of their emotional well being. I spent many years taking care of my Parents and friends and would do it all over again .

I know I am Loved and Needed and I am a Child of God /

Please know that when you are feeling down you can always reach out to someone on here and get some help and know you arent alone.

Peace

TDB :)

Whenever I felt depressed or like there was nothing to live for, I always looked towards the future. Every dark cloud is a silver lining, and you've just got to keep moving forward. Nowadays I use my career aspirations to encourage me to keep going.

My reasons to stay:
Despite what I think, I know there is at least one person that it would have affected deeply.
I love my family far too much.
I knew I wanted to get married and have a family some day so I continued to work toward that future dream.
I knew my purpose, and wanted to help others see theirs.

Much reason to stay is my best friend. She never judges me for my struggles and although we are both broken our pieces fit together . I could never hurt her the way Ive been hurt before.

This is a great post. Thank you everyone for sharing. heart

My reasons to stay vary.. I stay for my fiance, who I've put through numerous trials and he's still here eights years later. I stay for my mom, who is the only family that I really have left. I stay because of my therapist, who has been around through hystarical sobs and joyous rantings for seven years. I stay because my dad wouldn't have wanted me to give up. I also need to finish scattering his ashes and keep his memories alive. I stay because refuse to allow my disorders to consume me, even if I have to fight tooth and nail to have a life. A real life.

Stay. Live another day. Stop. Breath in 1-2-3-4. Hold 2-3-4. Out 2-3-4. In 2-3-4. Do this as many times as you have to. Or do something you know that is positive and can help you. Some people find drawing helpful. Some find taking a walk beneficial. It might be listening to music, drawing, writing, talking to someone, eating a snack, going for a jog,

My reason for living is just to see another day. And I've lived 2 more years than I thought I could a few years ago.

*********This is your Pre-Trigger Warning. I care about you all and I would never want to upset anyone to the point they cannot practice self care effectivly. So I'm putting this up just because of a mention of suicide attempts and some mental health diagnoses and my past.***********

****************************************************************************************************************************************************************

I made my first attempt landing me in the hospital in 6th grade and several times after that. They continued on and became monthly things. It became where I was fighting for my life every day. Battling money problems, PTSD, eating disorders, adoption, having hallucinations, family instability, surgeries, psychosis, major depression, bullying, abuse, suicidal thoughts, destructive behaviours, and similar.

Making it through one day was one of the most painful things I could have done. Living when I didn't want to. I wasn't quite living, though. I was breathing; a ghost in a world that I felt I wasn't supposed to be in. But I found out I was wrong. Just because you feel like everyone hates you, doesn't mean they do. It has been worth the time waiting to find someone or have them enter my life. I've got few, but great close friends at school I could never have asked for. But I met them and they are so wonderful. And everyone I've met on 7 Cups has been absolutely amazing. Everyone is so unique and I love that. I love meeting new people.

I'm a survivor of suicide loss and suicide attempts. I've lived through them knowing I have God by my side, even when others aren't. I have this wonderful service, 7 Cups I volunteer with here and they also have my back. I have theirs always, too.

My reason to stay is the sorrow on my childrens face. The pain and struggle of growing up without mom. Who would take on Jane of all trades job? My reason to stay is that I was meant to die of natural causes. My reason to stay is that its okay to be different and I have every right to live how I choose.

Reasons to stay: I have more moutains to climb, more birds, animals and insects to hear. I want to see my daughter grow up. I want to live and love. I want to do it just to piss off the ones that don't like me.
