Desiree's Volunteer Journey
Hey y'all, Desiree here. Because of The Gift of Caring thread @Heather225 posted, I have been inspired to share my own story about what brought me to 7 Cups and why I choose to volunteer.
I first came to 7 Cups back in 2018-- during which I was at a very low point in my life. As a stay at home mother, an introvert, and homebody I just wanted to do something outside of my kids. I wanted to do something for me again. I wanted to be productive and help people. In the past, I've volunteered many hours giving of myself... so donating my time was nothing new to me. But it was in my past and I missed this part of me. I wanted that part of me back and 7 Cups was a place I knew I could contribute to. Listening ended up becoming therapeutic to me despite my own mental health struggles and I was happy I had something to offer to someone else.
For those of you who know me, you know I'm a "hopper". I've been a part of this team and that and even that one over there too 😂 but then I end up leaving or resigning. Why you ask? Because with anything I do, I have to have passion or I can't do it. I have no specific title or role, and that's ok because I'm Desiree and I just go where I think I have to offer. I truly believe I have something to offer here and I do believe I have made a difference. 💗
7 Cups has become a safe place for me to be and I've met many amazing people on my journey here. People I have truly grown to care about and love. It's these people (you) that keep me coming back. Because if I felt I had nothing to offer here or nothing to be apart of, then I wouldn't even bother showing up like I do. But I do-- for both you and me.
With that said, I want to thank those of you who have pushed and inspired me to be better. And thank those of you who have literally impacted my listening journey in ways you can't even imagine. Y'all hold a place in my heart and I will always be grateful. 💜
I am truly happy to be apart of an online community that is filled with support, love, and kindness. Thank you for accepting me and trusting me. It's a great pleasure of mine to be YourCaringConfidant-- literally. Xoxo.

Hey Desiree, I absolutely loved getting to know you up close and personal. You're such a gem. Your children are lucky to have you. It's not easy looking after kids full-time while also doing something your heart desires. I'm a fellow introvert, and I know how hard it is. But you do it so well, and I admire you for it. I like how you mentioned being a hopper. That's essentially me. I have never been able to serve one role, and I keep switching between communities all the time. Because, like you said and I believe too, I can't do something that doesn't align with my passion.
I love all that you do so much, and I look up to you. Please keep being you. You're amazing, and your graphics are to die for. Please give me a tutorial if you can, because I'd love to learn from you.
@trueconfidant123 Omgggg, TC! You're someone like me! Haha. That's so funny that you're a "hopper". 👀 Seeeee, you get it! People like us have to have passion. It's a necessity and requirement. Doesn't matter how much someone encourages and uplifts me and speaks words of positivity on me... I can try and do it but if my heart isn't it, I can't. Enjoyment and passion has to be there.
