My fair lady 🥰
What does it mean to you when you hear the word feminine? So many women feel judged and shamed, this is a safe space to explore feelings while having an honest and respectful conversation!
💜💕
@Amanda84
Hearing the word feminine 🤔 I honestly think of perfection in a female. She’s got her nails done, hair perfectly in place, dressed aesthetically. She is mature, responsible, “wife material.” Dinner is done every night with dessert.
MY version of feminine is being unapologetically me. I’m human. I burp, I swear, I laugh at inappropriate things. My legs aren’t always perfectly shaved. There are days where I don’t want to wear makeup or jewelry. I hardly ever have my nails painted. Would I like to? Probably. But between work and doing dishes, honestly I just don’t find it necessary. And a day of baggy sweats and a T shirt heck yes. I do enjoy getting dressed up. Wearing makeup. Doing my hair. But it’s for me.
I have emotions. It’s ok to cry. My voice also matters. I don’t always allow masculine to lead. Is it a trauma response or me just being a go getter? Probably both.
I do have a soft side. The nurturing, loving, caring woman. I enjoy being complimented, respected and treated to special things every now and again.
I don’t know how well I answered this question. 💕
You answered as you should my dear
Your words couldn't be more truthful

What a good response! Yes, I agree, it's important to do these things for us and us alone. I celebrate any woman who wants to get married and wants to have children and wants to dress up, look good, be herself. Equally women should be celebrated for being who they want to be and not who society wants them to be. One thing I've noticed can be triggering for many women here, is when they say they are not married or don't have children, immediately it's as if they are sad, or lacking or living a half life. People need to be mindful of the fact they don't know if women have experienced sexual trauma , or if they cannot conceive, if they have experienced a miscarriage, if their husband cannot have a child. So many experiences are not the same. Some women are happy with their career and not being married. Also men are often celebrated for their sexual prowess whereas women are shamed and judged and objectified, that isn't just, women's with is not tied to their ability to please a man or their capability to have a child!
💜💕
@Amanda84
I can how that would be triggering. And that’s where it comes down to expectations. You can’t expect things from females just because. People in general live alone sometimes because they want to. Trauma can affect sexual activity in many ways, shapes and forms. The inability to be able to conceive, females that have already been given that advice don’t need to be pressured into it more so, sometimes we beat our selves up enough over other things. Girl, don’t even get me started on the $lut shaming. I think it’s horrible. You get a high five, meanwhile the female is called awful names.
@peachThinker662
Double standards for sure 🥺
@Amanda84
ooooh yes!!! And I think it’s fair to say most people go through a phase where they are learning about themselves. Are they looking for love or lust? Do they still need time to grow and figure it out? The words that are thrown at females over this is disgusting.
I’ve never heard someone perfect it so well. I agree with you 101%.
It's me feeling comfortable with being me. Romanticizing everything I do & finding pleasure in my doings. Being one with my thoughts and desires. Carrying myself in a manner only defined by me and my beliefs. Being loved, seen, and adored by myself and those surrounding me. Feminine feels like pink, I don't have to wear pink but I can feel all the pink effects within me. I hear beauty that exceeds appearance. It means kindness that “stands on business” when it comes to one's peace & sanity.
Great topic, As a gender equality advocate, where i come from feminine has often been tied to tradition caring for the home, raising children, showing respect and humility, and embodying modesty. These roles remain important, but they have also placed limits on women’s voices and choices.
Today, femininity is evolving. To me, being feminine is not just about softness or service—it is also about strength, resilience, and leadership. women are farmers, teachers, business owners, activists, and leaders. They nurture families, but they also shape communities and influence national progress.
Being feminine now means having the freedom to define yourself: to be caring and compassionate, but also bold, ambitious, and outspoken. It is about breaking stereotypes while holding onto the values that give us identity. Feminine is not weakness it is power expressed in many forms, whether in the village, the city, or on the national stage.
@Amanda84 I don't know🤔🤔🤔 I'm not exactly into my feminine side, my one carer does my make-up, hair and nails sometimes to try make me feel better about myself😁 I'm not into my masculine side either 🤔🤔 so I don't have a side 🤔🤔 I'm just me😁😁😁💖
Lol. I love this. We were always me till society taught us masculine and feminine.
@Tinywhisper11
@Tinywhisper11 You are a wonderful you! ❤️
@Tinywhisper11
I believe you have got a very feminine soul. Sensitive, warm, delicate and totally unselfish. And this is really charming 💜
@Tinywhisper11 💗💗
@chillmoon awwww thanks everyone 💖💖💖 I love you all 💖
That's actually Hella beautiful 😍 🤩 I love it
I was thinking about this yesterday and couldn't put it into words. I just kept thinking curves, shapeliness and the word softness, springs to mind.
Maybe because I'm soft spoken or maybe because it's a side I rarely show but when I was younger it was all about showing off the figure and oomphed up hair, makeup, nails..
Now sometimes it's about expressing myself, showing care to others and embracing my flaws and quirks.
A soft giggle, smile or even walk. I'm glad to be a woman but there is still so much fear about letting people close.
They steal my voice continually...
@ScrabbleBrain
I guess that is the point, having a voice that cannot be stolen and no letting anyone decide what your story or worth is!
💕💜
@Amanda84 Sometimes I think I've grown up and changed so much but it only takes one thing and I'm transported back to silence..
Society seems to have many ideas when it comes to what's feminine and what isn't. What's considered feminine seems to follow cultural guidelines and societal norms. Many seem to think that feminity means dresses and skirts, long hair (perfectly styled of course), manicured and polished nails. And make-up. To me those are just stereotypes, both cultural and visual associations.
I feel that being feminine is someone that's true to herself. She doesn't need to dress, look or act a certain way to be considered feminine. Just be unashamedly You! That is true beauty

You just described my wife to a T. She was brought up in a home with 7 brothers and never really cared much for how she looked to others. No makeup, perfumes, never paints her nails, can never decide if she wants long hair or short hair 😁
Just unfiltered HER and that's why I love her, she has never pretended to be someone she was not.
@mytwistedsoul
That is true beauty!!!
@braindamag3
you gave me happy tears and a little sparkle in my heart. This is so sweet. 🥹 ❤️
@peachThinker662
@braindamag3 You're a very lucky guy Bd! I hope to find someone like that someday 😊
@mytwistedsoul
Thank you for that. 😊
Probably why I have held on to her for 42 years. 😁
I might have a type 😳 The woman at work that I had to walk away from, has the same qualities 😉. Never anything romantic or physical between us but she stole and 💔 my heart over 12 years.
@braindamag3 42 years! That is so awesome! She was your best friend at work? I'm glad you kept it to just a friendship. I could never understand people feeling the need to cheat on their spouses. I am sorry that she broke your heart though. It's hard losing a close friend like that
@mytwistedsoulyep, 42 years and no end in sight LOL J/K. We were meant for each other.
Hope you find your person one day. 🤗
Yea, she was my one true friend at work, that I could confide in, with just about everything. She could not process the fact that I had told her that I had feelings for her but wanted nothing but her friendship. She started pushing away, so I decided it was time to walk away.
This is the main reason why I ended up on Cups, was to process the loss/loneliness and broken heart.
Now, I just tip toe around the office and avoid the area where she works.
@braindamag3 I wish you both another happy 42 more years! Thank you, she's out there, I'm just bad with directions and haven't found her yet. 😅
I hope to find someone that thinks that way of me too ❤️

When I hear the word feminine, I think of qualities like grace, warmth, empathy, and creativity. It’s not just about appearance, but also about the energy someone carries, gentleness, elegance, or the ability to nurture and connect with others.
And it’s not limited to women alone. Anyone, regardless of gender, can express feminine traits. What’s seen as feminine can also differ across cultures, so it’s really about how those softer, nurturing qualities show up in someone’s life.
For me, feminine simply reflects a way of being that highlights softness and strength together.
@Lulucares
The size of the font you used almost exploded my screen, but it was definitely worth it 😊
Again, I hear a word of wisdom from you ❤️ 👍
Really😂😂 I’m so sorry about that! And it’s showing small fonts on my screen.
@Lulucares
Oh, that's OK 😊 The most important is what you said, not the size of the font 😊
I recently red a book called "we should all be feminists" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which answers this and many other questions about feminism as well as this, she tells us about a story of hers where she is going to teach students but she is worried about what to wear, because she is scared that being feminine means not be taken seriously. Later she realizes that she shouldn't be afraid of expressing herself or of someone's opinion because being herself is the best way to teach someone what you want to transmit.
I personally think that what I learned from this story is that the word feminine can both be an insult or a compliment depending on who says it and in what way, by itself being feminine is a way like any other to express themselves and I don't think it should be restricted to women, for a man being called feminine is generally an insult but what if we educated ourselves as to see the word feminine as a word like any other to describe a beautiful thing?
