Things People Who Have Anxiety Wish You Knew
If this is part of your life story, please share your insights! What would you like the rest of us to learn? What should we know about people in this community? How would you like people to interact with you? Should people ask questions? What’s the best way for people to learn about this? Do you have any resources (books, movies, YT videos, etc) that will give us greater understanding and empathy and kindness toward people who experience the same things you do?
If you’re not on this journey, please share insights you’ve learned while interacting with those who are, whether family, friends, or anyone else. Share things you’ve read, and ask if they’re true. Share beliefs that you have, ask questions, and more! This is a safe space where you can learn about things you’ve never experienced. <3
Let’s have a gentle, fun, friendly conversation among friends! As a song in one of the Land Before Time movies says, “It takes all sorts to make a world!” <3

@jesusredeemedme2425 I've felt anxious before but I haven't been diagnosed. Looking forward to learning more about this 🤍
Have you talked to a doctor or therapist about it?
@jesusredeemedme2425 no... it's much less now than it was couple months ago.. it's just i feel like I get nervous very easily in situations.
Idk nervous feels the right word to me, cus i haven't been diagnosed with anxiety and stuff
Is it more worry than anxiety? Anxiety is sometimes physical and sometimes mental, sometimes both. Worry is more mental
@jesusredeemedme2425 I remember the feeling from couple months ago, my hands use to trimble very often, and heart raises it we're all signs of anxiety, I randomly use to feel those things... but now it's much less often.
Yeah, sounds like anxiety. Maybe google GAD?
I’m glad it’s less often now <3
@jesusreemedme2425 I will ❤️
I still feel anxious at times even now :( but feel unsure if it's even worth checking or I'll just be worrying my family. I try doing grounding methods when i feel those things.
Just google stuff first. Do your own research <3 Then work from there <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 okay, thank you ❤️
You’re welcome <3

@trueconfidant123 Thank you💖
@fossilfellow 💗

@BlueDarkAurora thank you💖
( I missed ur question sry, I haven't talked with a doc or therapist about it )
Anxiety filled person here. Here's what to know. I'm not a people person in real life and I hate crowds and crowded places. Too many people in one place, too many cars in a parking lot, narrow roads with cars, etc all cause me anxiety. It was learning to drive and then it being my turn to drive on the highway where I had my first panic attack and couldn't breath and the seat belt was restricting me I started freaking out. I can look back at it now and laugh though. I'm still not a driver and my drive in my safe zone where I am familiar.
I'm the person who's abandoned a whole cart of groceries in a store because of my nerves being bad because too many people around. Horrible, I know. I've had Walmart + now for years to do my shopping and delivering and that helps me a lot! 😃
People cause me anxiety. If you have too much going on in my presence, my nerves get bad. If music is too loud, I can't see to concentrate. If my nerves are bad, I end up dropping things and making a mess. 🙃
I've been a nail bitter since I was a little girl and my anxiety affects my physical body in so many ways.
I worry about lots of things in my life and my brain doesn't turn off. My worries are all "real" and valid in my brain. I can't be in between. I either care and worry or I don't care and then feel depressed... even though I suffer from depression too. Outside of that, this is my normal because it's just how I am. Maybe it's not an actual disorder for me but just my personality. Who knows. Lol. 😆
I overthink. And I can’t “just get out of my head” My mind likes reassurance knowing that everything is ok and I’m ok. I seek for all the answers in my head prior to to have control and I feel as if my core just wants to be safe.
I also have PTSD so coming up close on me, I don’t know what will happen, I either fight or flight.
I have trouble sleeping, I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding. I pick my skin, trying to make it perfect but it is also grounding.
Sometimes I can’t concentrate. But other times I try so hard to stay busy to keep the thoughts at bay.
Being alone is very challenging for me.
Mocking me or laughing because I’m scared of a certain subject only fills me with shame.
And when I say a fear it loud, it’s like it makes it real…so I hold everything in….
Panic attacks + “What’s wrong” “What usually helps” does not help.
@peachThinker662 You just shared with me your coping mechanism. We tend to want to be able to be in control to want to protect ourself from past traumas. It makes sense though, because so many things that may have happened to us may have been out of our control. I hope everything you're struggling with coping with gets easier on you over time. ♡ You're strong and resilient though, remember that! Ok?
And so are you beautiful!!!
It sometimes feels so isolating on the journey but in a weird way it’s comforting to know I’m not alone on it either❤️
Panic attack- just leave us alone. It’s both embarrassing and there’s not always a fix. You often have to just ride it out. Time. Other people fussing over you doesn’t help. Give us space.
Yes yes yes
I've got a good one.
Please don't hover. A lot of us are screaming on the inside when you hover over what we're doing, whatever it is. If we invite/show you, yes, or if you take a legitimate interest, maybe (just make that known). Otherwise, just don't.
Couldn’t agree more!!!!
I find I deal with that in public spaces. I’m on the shorter size with height. I was looking on a shelf at something in a store, a woman reached for something OVER my head and she was a lot bigger than me.
My mind wanted to hit her with a backwards elbow move.
I’m always very mindful of people’s space.. whether it’s for myself or theirs…I know it’s a challenge.
@Torean Omggg yes! Thank you for mentioning this! I can't stand hoverers. 🤣 They give me anxiety and I just feel their energy. Even when I'm not looking at them, I can just feel their weird energy hovering over me and looking and it drives me crazy. Lol.
@peachThinker662 I totally relate! I'm not even 5'1" but I'm short. I'm only as tall as I am because of my long upper torso. Lol. I have short legs and short arms so can't reach lots of things. My arms don't even reach in the bottom of the deep freezer or at the bottom of the washing machine to get the clothes out on my tippy toes. 😂😂😂
Hahaha I have stool at my washing machine. Relatable.
I get nervous and forget how to do things when people hover over me XD

I forget how to smile because my face starts to twitch when I'm in front of someone that is intimidating or scary to me. 🥲🫂

Hiii, I know I'm a little late to this one but I'll give my input on this one.
Anxiety isn't just being worried over a test or anything like that, that is just being, well worried or I guess a bit anxious. However, having anxiety, at least for me, is constant worrying over small things, like "what if I can't wake up in time", "what if they don't actually like me, do they?". Whenever someone says things like "oh that test gave me so much anxiety" while laughing sometimes makes me upset because they don't actually know what it is like to worry so much over something that you focus on it for a really long time, and sometimes even having a panic attack over it. It's also hard to even talk to people, like anytime I see a person I really want to talk to because I notice something from the same fandom I'm in on their bags or whatever, I stand for so long trying to build up the courage to even say hi, like I'll just stand there staring, trying to hype myself up, and I know it might sound and look like I'm being a creep but I'm not, I just want to try talk to someone. And finally, sometimes my heart beats so rapidly and hard for no reason at all, like I'll be trying to sleep but nope, thump thump thump, I'll be just sitting in class doing work, thump thump thump, and even as I was saying before, trying to talk to a stranger, thump thump thump. Sometimes I'll just look down and I can see my shirt actually moving with my heartbeat because it is beating that hard.
It's so hard for people to actually realise what anxiety is, it's not just a small worry over something, it's an extended worry over various things and not something that can just, stop.
