Your love language & self-care!
Hey everyone!
Some of you might have heard about the term "love languages". Basically, this theory says that there are four different ways one can share affection: Physical Touch, Acts of Service, Gifts, Affirmations and Quality Time. If you are interested in finding out what your own love language is, here is the test: click me!
Love languages however can not only be applied to our relationships with others, but also our relationship with ourselves and how we best practice self care. There are different ways you can show yourself a little appreciation using your own love language:
Physical Touch: 🙌🏼
- cultivate a skincare routine
- shower, take a bath
- massages or moisturising your body
- yoga, gentle movement
Acts of Service:
- checking things off of your to-do list
- decluttering or cleaning
- cooking yourself a meal or doing meal-prep
Gifts: 💐
- buy yourself flowers
- enrol in a new class or course
- order take-out
- splurge on something you've been wanting to get
Quality Time: 👫
- date night with yourself
- explore nature
- meditate , journal
- wake up early and spend time by yourself before the day starts
Words of Affirmations: 🗣
- do a gratitude journal
- use affirmations
- try a mantra meditation
- watch your language to yourself
Question: What is your love language? Share with us! ❤️🌿

Hey hey Avery, thanks for tagging me in this wonderful post. ❤
I like the idea of using the concept of Love Languages to show/ express love and self care to ourselves.
I do know my love language but I took the test too lol, I find these quite fun xD
I feel I have a mix of these, but my primary ones are, Acts of service, quality time and words of affirmations. 😮
Feeling quite inclined to engage in something self care now! Yay, might take a walk with music plugged in lol
How about yourself, what is/are your love language(s)?
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou hi sun! thank you for joining ❤️ I agree that these tests are always super fun even when one has already taken them xD its the same with me and the "16 personality type" tests even though Ive had the same result every time!! Really happy to hear that this inspired a self care activity for you - taking a walk with some music is a great idea!
My #1 love language is Acts of Service and its also the best way where I can show myself appreciation, for instance by not procrastinating and by meal prepping to avoid further stress! I'd say after that comes Physical Touch :)
@AveryLove
Aw ofcourse!
Oh goodness same Haha, im so excited to find someone else finding these super fun too. What personality type do you get each time? 😮
I did have a nice walk today. Yay
*high five* acts of service is such a wonderful way to show love to ourselves (or our loved ones), I so relate on procrastinating things, but am glad you've already thought of something to boost self care, Meal prepping can be tedious ooof.....I'm sure feeling stress free afterwards and enjoying your meal on time will certainly brighten your mood too! Way to go!
Also a big yay to physical touch, being gentle and affectionate is super comforting, I feel. ❤
What a great suggestion !!!!
I show low by acts of service but now will try to incorporate all your suggestions into my self care
Thank you
@generousBalloon786 you are very welcome! im glad to hear that you enjoyed the post and hey - im also a fellow with love language acts of service 😊 do you also feel like battling procrastination is something that really feels like taking care of yourself? in a way that we're saying : I want the future me to be happy and not stressed about this deadline anymore etc.
Yes looking back procastination has been a big weakness and in the long run has costed me a lot. It's still a challenge for me !!!
I'm trying to form new habits to help.
Mine would be acts of service I'm guessing, what about you?
(and sorry I procrastinate tags a bit)
So interesting to apply this to self care. It makes totL sense though as mine are quality time, physical touch. And acts of service and your recommendations for self care are so on point for things thT make me happy. Thank you for this post, it is very helpful.
@AveryLove
This is absolute JOY! Thank you so much, what a game changer! 😁 My love language is Acts of Service and a close second is Recieving Gifts although I think thats mostly the ADHD in me 😜
