@Kristynsmama
thank you <3 i really appreciate that.
I'm in between "meh" and "ok".. It has been a week of mixed emotions.
@Kristynsmama
@Jaeteuk
im sorry you had a week of mixed emotions. I’m glad you are checking in with us. Feel free to reach out if you need to.
kristy
Kristy, sometimes I wish I can have a good cry.
@Kristynsmama
I understand. It’s ok to cry! I had a good cry this morning. :). It’s amazing how much better I feel afterwards.
Kristy
The problem is, my tears don't come out easily. The most I'd get is teary-eyed. I find myself crying most when I'm watching something emotional in tv dramas. But when it comes to reality, and the emotions that are bottled up, just kind of dissipates on its own before it can come out as tears.
@Kristynsmama
@Jaeteuk
That happens to me too. It feels weird and awkward, and even wrong! With time I want to feel more comfortable with my emotions...what about you?
@Kristynsmama
I'm off the scale bad but also meh and kinda flopping around all the others in some passive-agressive life washing machine.
Probably just meh though.
@communicativePond1728
im sorry to hear that you are meh, and off the charts bad. I hope things get better. :)
@communicativePond1728
I think I blame myself for this. As I had always never expressed my emotions on the surface ever since I was young. So, now that I hope for those tears to come out, I think my natural instinct is to hold it, rather than let it flow. It's not so much as whether or not I'd feel vulnerable showing tears, it's more like feeling safe to do so. It might draw unwanted attention, which would make me feel even more cautious and afraid to show it.
But I do hope that one day, I don't have to worry about things like that, and just let my tears flow as they please. Except, I don't know if that day will ever come, and when?
@Jaeteuk
I know how you feel and what you mean.
It's like some kind of invisible gate slams down on me when real emotions are about to be expressed!
That's super insightful about it being about feeling guilty...I literally just posted about how I reject kindness and love because it feels so deeply wrong and uncomfortable to me
Maybe practicing it by watching more movies will help, and I think that's true because I recently read something about how scary movies, or roller coasters changes the brain to be more prepared and to handle scary things, so I bet more practicing will help...what do you think?
Scary movies give me nightmares.. but, maybe I'll try and watch more emotional movies. See if it helps to get used to.
@communicativePond1728
@Jaeteuk
Samesies with scary movies. I'm with you on that one for sure. I did learn a trick where you're supposed to focus your energy before bed on facing whatever is scaring you, asking the thing it's name...that makes the nightmares stop and then go away.
Also watching a Disney movie after a scary movie has helped me. Like a palate cleanser for the mind.
It has worked. But damn they're coming out with some intense movies and I'm kinda lacking. Like I flat refuse to watch Hereditary. And now there's The Nun, and another Exorcist? Nah
Sometimes I think my life is scary enough as it is. I'm a bit of a dare devil...I've done and do extreme sports and live in an apartment.
But yah some sad movies I watched in the last few weeks that broke me tf down weeping are Nausicaa and Little Miss Sunshine.
Any suggestions for me? I'm open!
I actually don't watch a lot of movies.. and don't have the sources, as I'm not the type to go to movie theatre. So, it's just tv dramas that I watch most. Watching them from apps on an Ipad.
There's a very old movie, that I've watched multiple times when it first came out.. and I cried every single time. I believe it was called, Simon Birch.
@communicativePond1728
@Jaeteuk
Simon Birch. Why is that sounding so faintly familiar. I'm going to see if it's on YouTube and watch the *** out of it. Thanks.
Oh, and what dramas do you watch? Maybe they're on YouTube too.
@Jaeteuk
It totally is and I'm totally watching it!
Oh, also sorry about the swear; I'm working on keeping my masculine and feminine energy balanced and it's still a work in progress.
And thanks...I'm pretty glad I found a movie to rent and watch this weekend.
I watch mainly Chinese dramas, I haven't come across any recently that made me cry though. There was one where I watched a few months ago, a particular scene where I cried.. heheh, got my pillow all wet.
Don't worry about the swearing. I don't take them personally.

@cyanPlatypus6370 hugs cyan ❤ I know being alone and feeling vulnerable can be extremely difficult😞 however thank God we all have a safe place here at cups. I don't watch t.v. But yeah a spoiler alert should be used like trigger alerts. Personally I think you should all watch happy xmas films, and cartoons😁 scary movies should only be watched before 6pm and something funny should be watched after wards. As for crying it is good for you, and feeling safe is important. I hope you all can open up and find safety here ❤❤❤
@cyanPlatypus6370 Platy 😊 Ideas for movies? Adventure movies usually have some comedy in. Like Journey 2 the mysterious island. Or Jumanji. Animated movies like Ice Age are good too. Even quiet activities like word searches or coloring can help keep things low key and relaxing
@mytwistedsoul Yes, dear soul! Those things. and thanks much for the hug and ounces of courage!
I do love especially Disney animated movies! A few of my favorites are "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," and.... one more, "Cinderella." Okay, I realize each of those have been made into 'live action' films recently, but B&B and Aladdin especially in my opinion, waaayyyy better in the animated version! (No offense intended. #LoveDisneymovies )
And yes, scary movies if watched, need to be completed before sundown - especially in the fall and winter time. I really don't like scary movies. Scary tv shows are 1/2 okay sometimes, but not movies for me.
Low energy activities can feel like busy work a lot of times. But other times I need - my brain needs! - the calming and not-hard thinking work of coloring or listening 🎵 to Mozart or Beethoven, Chopin or Tchaikovsky.
And definitely Yes! on the 🎅🏻Christmas-themed🎄 movies! I can name a dozen for you right now, if you're interested haha. Oh, another "doing nothing" kind of activity is snuggling in a soft blanket or snuggling in a soft blanket while holding a cup of hot cocoa ☕ ! ...and watching it snow! outside?!! ❄ ❄ 🐧 Yes, this Platy does love snow!
<3 Platy and SST🐾
@Jaeteuk
Chinese dramas!? I didn't really know those existed. What was it called, maybe I'll find it and watch it...oh and how did I forget about Simon Birch *old memory unlocked*
Yea.. Chinese Dramas.. I'm Asian, so I'm into watching those over American series.. So, they are in Mandarin. The one I mentioned earlier, the one with a scene were I cried, is called "Hidden Love".. I'm not sure if YouTube has the entire series though.
There's an older Taiwanese Drama, that has 2 seasons. There's a scene in both, that makes me cry every time I watch it. That one is called "It Started With A Kiss".. second season is called "They Kiss Again".. I believe YouTube has both seasons. The first season, years after it was aired, there are different versions of it in Japanese and Korean television drama too.
Simon Birch, it was such a touching story. It's one of those movies I don't think I'll ever forget. That last scene.. where he saved a school bus of kids..
@communicativePond1728
@Jaeteuk
I'm checking out the first episode on YouTube and really like it...it's funny and so well done - are there any more shows you can think of?
I forgot how much I enjoy watching shows with subtitles.
For me it's the best of both worlds; an adventure from the comfort of my own 🛋️
Maybe I will be inspired to learn Mandarin...it being the most widely spoken language and one *** of an orange and all
If it's dramas that would make us cry.. at the moment, of the many I'm currently watching, none of them had me shed a tear yet. That female lead in Hidden Love, she's a good actress. I watched most dramas that she was in. Are you into historical period dramas, she was in one early this year that was good. There were some teary-eyed scenes.
The thing with Historical dramas, is they are very long.. like 50 something episodes.
My genre of dramas, if in modern time, is usually along the lines of medical, search and rescue, firefighting, special forces squads or I'll watch a drama based on who the leads are, in support of their acting of which I feel is good and has potential.
When it comes to Historical, I usually only watch the actresses or actors I like and support.
Back to the origin of this thread though, everyone experiences grief in one way or another. Be that a faimly member, friend, or a complete stranger. I know we all process grief differently, and the impact varies from person to person. For myself, I just wish I could let it out with a good cry. Like I mentioned earlier, when it comes to dealing with my own emotions of sadness and grief, I'll only get teary-eyed.
When my grandfather passed more than a decade ago. I didn't shed a tear when I heard he passed away in his sleep after a fall. My dad and Aunt who are the only ones that lived overseas, went back home in time to say their goodbyes. I went to his grave a few years later, and still didn't shed a tear. Come to think of it, the memories I had with my grandfather are becoming a bit blurry. It's saddening, I only remember him through the time he and my grandmother came to visit us shortly after my parents moved out of the home country. But the early memories of before we moved, is only remembered as stories my parents tell me about. As I don't remember much of my life before 5 years old.
Expressing emotions, grief or not, has always been something I have hidden, especially after the first diagnosis of depression decades ago. Now that I'm older, and want to live a better life.. I'm hoping that I could finally let that emotion surface. But being able to cry, I find it the most difficult to express.
@Jaeteuk yeah I'm going to have to agree with you on that; I haven't really cried about my grandpa, great aunt or step aunts passing, or people I grew up or went to school with, losing my pets or when I severely injured myself. 🧐 Learning more about myself helps me to process situations through understanding.
@Jaeteuk
Omgggg you cannot with the spoilers!
Oh well...it doesn't really ruin the whole movie eh?
I did have a mini weepy moment when he was on the bridge, dang. That was wrenching
Not good. Got sent home from work because I couldn’t stop crying. Been having panic attacks far too often. Can’t eat. Bad dreams. It’s been horrible
@gazemaze gad! How are you doing now? I've been using apps like finch and voidpets to help me with similar stuff
I’ll check both of those out. I’m feeling a bit better, thank you for asking! I’ve at least not been overwhelmed with emotions as much as I have been. I had a really nice day off today with absolutely no plans so I spent it all at home doing whatever my heart desired. It’s helped raise my spirits and lessen my anxiety. Hopefully that will give me a push for a couple days
I’m doing ok to meh this week
