My chickens are dead.
I'm on holiday. And I've just received a message that all my chickens were killed last night. There's nothing I can do. They are gone.
Trevor, Miniwol, Chopka, Early Bird, Goldie Hawn, and the two rescued old ladies.
I raised them from eggs from their parents. They were more than just chickens. I will miss them.
They are gone.
They were funny. They were naughty. They were clever. They were beautiful. They were greedy. They were each unique.
They were vulnerable. They are gone.
Their house will be empty when I go home.
@Clio9876 Oh no 😞 I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a few hens and a rooster about a month ago. Fox 😞 I was devastated. I can only imagine how sad you must be. They are really unique little animals with their own personalities. I really am so sorry ❤️
@mytwistedsoul
Aw, I'm sorry about your hens and boy too. I loved foxes as a kid but right now, hating them. It looks like something tore the side off the house at a corner, so probably a fox. I'd like to get some more but don't know if I will be able to cope with going on holiday again. Its just so much worry that they might not be there when I come back.
@Clio9876 I'm a big animal lover myself but yeah I second that - kind of hating foxes right now too. Maybe you could reinforce everything with chicken wire?
@Clio9876 I’m sorry to hear about your loss ❤️.
I had a similar loss when out of the country a few years back. I think the predators notice a change in patterns and strike.
I am sorry you lost your birds. I know you can get to know them and see them like pets and such. Plus the work in raising them and all that is lost as well.
I raised a few new birds. Baby sized polish crested. The little roosty is amazing.

The neighbours wanted some chicks. And gave me some eggs for the incubator. And now I have cute little chicks, I might have to keep a few.... particularly as some are related to the ones I lost. (My neighbour's rooster was one of my hatchlings).
Banty sized....
@Clio9876 I am sorry for your loss, i can relate to you as i incubated 4 eggs at home and took good care of all the chickens until they grew old and each of them died of some disease, its heartbreaking 💔.
Oh no! As a chicken dad for 30 years now I understand how hard this is. 😔
@Clio9876 You were close to your birds, they were an important part of your day, feeding time and all. Was it a weasel in the coop?
@Clio9876 I'm so sorry to hear about your chickens, Clio. Losing pets who feel like family can be truly heartbreaking. I hope the special memories with them help comfort you during this difficult time. We are all here with you. You are not alone in this.
Sending hugs, if okay!
@Clio9876
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your chickens.
It's clear from your words that they held a special place in your heart and were more than just chickens to you. It's completely understandable to feel a deep sense of loss and sadness. Losing beloved pets can be incredibly difficult, especially when you've raised them from eggs and formed a bond with them.
Take the time to grieve and honor their memory in your own way. It's okay to feel a range of emotions, from sadness and anger to nostalgia and even emptiness. Allow yourself to process these feelings and remember the joy and love you shared with your chickens.
