Mod Emergency Form Updates
Hi everyone!
We have been having some issues with the Mod Emergency form and I wanted to share some updates regarding that.
A couple of weeks ago we saw the Community Mods join our community and starting to help out in the rooms. Since then the program has grown and we now have 24\7 moderation coverage! Firstly we would like to say thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming and supportive as they got started and integrated into the community.
To tackle some of the issues we have been having with the emergency form we are going to be closing the emergency response sheet and handing this task over to the Community Mods and Group Support Ambassadors. I know we would all love to see a better and more efficient system put in place but until such times as that is possible the response sheet will be closed.
This does not mean we don

@DanaMH sounds good! No problem at all. If you reach out to me when you need it I'll pass it along to you.
@Lorraine234
thanks for the information
@amiablePeace77 No problem!
Thank you for the update regarding access to the form.
I rely on this to know when the room I'm attached to (35+) is needing assistance when I'm not in the room so I can go and help. My understanding from the original post about Community Mods that, we, as room Mods took the lead and the CMs support or attend when none are available. Therefore, we won't know.
We had an incident recently and a CM came in and barely stayed and recorded it was "cleared" but the member who wouldn't stop was reported.
Don't get me wrong I'm glad we do have more support with Community Mods but wonder how we can do our jobs efficiently if we don't know there is a problem?
@caringPanda45 hi there! Thanks for your thoughts on the update.
Firstly I can't speak on the actions of any of the Community Mod however if there is something you feel you need to report feel free to do so using the review form.
As community centered mods in our chosen rooms we are able to spend time in there and focus on community building. Community Mods are more focused on safety, while they do try and make their way around and build good a relationship with the community.
As a mod in your chosen room you are encouraged to spend time in there as you always would! If you are there it is likely that there will not be an emergency request. Community Mods will always allow you to take the lead when you are in there and they are there as back up if you ever need it. When we are not present in the room they will be there to respond to the request! The role a mod is to keep the rooms safe and supportive while present. I think it is important that we focus on working together to grow our rooms and ensure they are as safe as possible.
I understand that this system is not the best right now and we hope that one day we will be able to have something that is more user friendly and helps us keep better track of the actions taken. This will allow us to open this up again. Until then I hope that we can find a way to make sure we are working together and making best use of the resources we have!
Hope that makes sense.
@Lorraine234
Thanks a bunch for the update! I will reach out for stats Every 1-2 weeks.
@Jenna sounds good!
@Lorraine234 so where do reports go in the room when someone reports someone for a problem?
And what happens to that request when it is responded to.
Also is there a schedule of Mods so a discussion leader can pm them when a problem arises?
Hey @soulsings !
When someone fills in the mod emergency form in the chatroom rules (Same place it was before) the Community Mod on duty will get that request and be able to respond to it.
The schedule is updated weekly here so you can always see which Community Mod is around. Alternatively as I mentioned they can always be reached through the emergency form.
Hope that helps!
@Lorraine234 so those names are their community mod names. Can I pm them?
how would their pm address appear?
The problem is if I fill in a Mod report in the room I can no longer see the person and as the discussion leader I need to know what they are saying.
Does the Community MOd also see the Emails to community@7cups.com?
If you do not wish to discuss this in this forum please pm me and I get back to you on Monday if questions. Thanks
@soulsings good question! It would appear as @CommunityModJessie or @CommunityModCasey for example. Does that make sense? Those are all the community mod names so it is always CommunityModName. They are only available in PMs.
Oh! I see whats happening here. Haha. So the emergency request we are talking about is the form found in the chatroom rules at the bottom of the chat window. This is how mods will be pinged to come into the room. The "report" button under a users name is reported to admins and moderators don't have that information. I'll PM woth more details!
@Lorraine234 would it be possible if Mods could have an additional button to be able to submit a form as opening the Chat Room rules still creates the problem of not seeing what is being said. I have two windows open so I can run discussions/open chats and PM in the other.
@caringPanda45
You could maybe try bookmarking the form Adult Call a mod or Teen Call a Mod
@Lorraine234 thanks for the update. I feel it is a bit sad really as I often responded to the form, and so far have to be impressed by any of the com mods For whatever reason they seem slow to respond, I often got there before them and I don't like the way situations are marked 'cleared' or 'false report' when they were not.

@MistyMagic done thanks.
@MistyMagic
Hi Misty, I agree with you since I am seeing that a lot also and have been told about that situation from others also. Sometimes the paid mods are also only staying for 1 minute and not really seeing what is going on and telling those that are trying to problem solve to a solution that they are in the wrong and not telling the person that is actually the cause of the issues anything which is not making the rooms safe.
@Lorraine234 @Jill7cups
@MistyMagic I totally understand being sad and that changes are difficult. When Community Mods respond to an emergency and one of us are present they will mark the sheet with both names if they other mod hasnt done so. Before we had many missed requests which has now been solved with 124 of 131 responded to within 5 minutes of them being submitted. I understand where you are coming from I just don't think it is fair to generalise. If there is a Community Mod that either isnt responding to a request fast enough or doing something that you feel needs to be looked into you can fill in a review form and it will be investigated. Thats the best way to get something changed if we feel it is not up to what it should be.
@Lorraine234
Can we give that link out to the members also which are in the room because now we won't know since we won't be getting email alerts or should they just do screen shots and report to community?
@MistyMagic It shows how different opinions come about and how people see things differently. As one of the reasons that made us shut down the access to the form was the fact that it did not seem global moderators were using the form/as their names were not on it however things were not adding up in terms of how things were marked compared to what was happening.
Again ill repeat what lorraine says about reporting community mod if you feel they not doing their role however their aim is to answer to the requests within 5 minutes and from what I have heard this is happening most of the time. Certently quicker than before or less missed which is awesome improvement as you say overall they seem to be doing awesome.
@Lorraine234
Hi, just wondering when the paid mods can't calm the room down since they don't but banners up what are they going to do because we have been putting banners up a lot to calm things down.
@DanaMH Hey! I'm glad that's been helpful for you and that it works that's great! The Community Mods are trained just like we are with a variety of different deescalation techniques that they can use. They might not be able to use that specific one but as trained moderators I am sure they will be able to use somethig that is efficient and effective too.
@Lorraine234
Maybe look at unpinning Kate's thread too, or updating it?

Just here to say how much I love all the collaboration happening in this thread <3
I have been impressed with the community mod team in dealing with CC so far.
