Support Protocol on Dissociative Behavior in Group Support Rooms
Updated: 9/9/20
Hi Community,
We have acknowledged your insightful and useful feedback on the protocol that we are implementing on the platform to make it a safe and healing space for all users. We wanted to thank each and every one of you for your comments which have helped us revise the protocol.
We have conceptualized this more broadly as dissociative behaviors in group rooms. This protocol applies to all people on the platform. As always, any behavior that takes away from the therapeutic environment in group rooms will not be accepted.
All users are expected to follow our community guidelines. Any violations of guidelines will be looked into under our Behaviour Points System and appropriate actions will be taken. This is to ensure the safety of the user and our broader community.
We also want to clarify that while we encourage people to seek support in the appropriate forum section (in relevance to their experiences) as all are welcome to participate as long as forum and sub-community specific guidelines are followed (if any).
Dissociation & Crisis
As per our site policy, any user who is currently in crisis needs to be referred to 7cups.com/crisis. If you are a listener supporting a member experiencing dissociation or switching who is in a crisis situation, please refer them and give them the space to reach out. You can read our crisis policy here.
We hope at 7 Cups that this revised protocol will be accepted and implemented to protect and care for our community that we all love!
@Fullhousesystem This could be helpful for you.

Hi! This is May, the Host, typing here- thanks for tagging us!
How might this be helpful to me/us? :) I am a bit confused by your statement
@Fullhousesystem
A am I, that was an odd statement
Questions...
Are systems limited to the the spesific DID community? a lot of people in the group chats are very confused so this is sort of from others too (I don't use forums so not sure what I am doing). Can alters be in Group chats? Y are they being limited to one community? Speaking out for systems that I know don't use forums, y can't they chill in the group chats? Being pulled and put into an area just with others with DID seems very limiting on who they are talking to. And from what I may see that if they are limited to not being able to talk about DID type issues and talk about Systems in group chats, they may feel not be able express themselves like others on the site if they need to go to one area and talk about what's going on. I am just confused on these new rules where exactly the boundary is set... And y there has been a boundary set for needing to go into a sepret DID community. @Benny0 @Fullhousesystem @knockoffWolf @LucyHearyfilia111 (not sure if I did any of those tags right)
@Animals4life111
We'd love to have these questions answered- we are quite disturbed and confused
- May, Host
Why are systems being prohibited from chatrooms, and doesn't that count as discrimination? Removing the Chatroom rights of systems, but no one else, I think the definition of discrimination is prejudice and bias resulting in actions that affect one group, but not anyone else.
this is ridiculous why is this even a thing. they are humans looking for support. not looking to make some comments and constant one on one chats!
If you want the best for the community members, why not treat them the same as everyone else? To post a separate thread aimed towards just those with DID, feels like segregation. Will there be a separate post For people suffering from bipolar? Or maybe people with schizophrenia? What about people who have depression or anxiety? I've seen people with other mental health problems be rude and inconsiderate. I've seen trolls say they have bipolar to justify their cruel behavior towards other people here. Yet DID has been singled out.
For the safety of other members, sounds as though you're labeling people with DID as violent rule breakers. This is something that already carries an amazing amount of stigma to it and this just further adds to it. Yet, a few months ago there was a few posts about trolls and how to reach them.
If we're to stay in our designated areas, there isn't much left here for some of us. Are we not allowed to partake in check ins? Or game threads? What about having a diary in the general support?
There are many of us who already have a hard time opening up and many of us have spent our lives in hiding. Hiding what we have, hiding who we are. This just adds to the feeling of being isolated. It adds to knowing we're different. That while we're welcome here, we can only visit certain sections. So now we have to once again hide and keep secrets. Because it seems to me, admitting you have DID here seems like a good way to alienate yourself from everyone in the community.
Many of us are well aware of the rules. We didn't need a post reminding us that the rules for everyone. Everyone means everyone I believe.
Maybe the experts should remember that we're also human beings. If the trolls can be sympathized and empathize with, we should be given the same courtesy and not told to only go to "our" section where they feel we belong.
I agree with Jaytheninja, this is discriminatory.
@mytwistedsoul wonderfully said
@Animals4life111 Thank you
@mytwistedsoul Well said I totally agree with you is soooo discriminatory and sooo unprofessional the way is handle its supposed to be a support side and wheres the values that 7cups says? im sooo mad about this is not etical and correct im soo mad at cups
@Glossytears Thank you.
@mytwistedsoul I would hope that the forum aspects just aren't being worded well. Seeking support about dissociation related stuff? Trauma support is likely the best place. There can be lots of things one is seeking support on though, or maybe they want a distraction when dealing with dissociation - multiple forum areas can be the best place, it all depends on what's going on! For disability, if someone's pain, illness, etc. is contributing to dissociating, I will try to make the area supportive for that.
@AffyAvo I'm hoping the same. In all honesty, when I first read this post I was hoping that I was reading too deeply or misunderstanding something.
You're right, there are many things people can be looking for support on and distractions are wonderful for anxiety or depression, as well as dissociation. As you said, it all depends on what's going on.
I think it's wonderful that you want to make disability forums a supportive area for everyone who may need it because they may be dissociating from pain and illness.
@mytwistedsoul WIth this being in the group support area, I think the rule changes only apply to group support. I think the forum wording was just about where to redirect people to when they are in the group chats.
Hopefully that can ease some concerns, but I understand it's upsetting to be told that some people can no longer go into group support rooms, whether it's all the time or just some of the time. That they can no longer get support where they have in the past, especially at times when it's most needed.
@AffyAvo
Itsca bit more than upsetting, its down right criminal, forums are great but no replacement for group chat.
@mytwistedsoul well said.
Hey there. I find this somewhat understandable, but upsetting. Can we make it where the host is allowed to be out in the chatroom? Now allowing systems in a room based on a mental illness is not right, especially when members are allowed to be chemically impaired.
As a site based solely on supporting those with mental health difficulties, I'm worried because this feels discriminatory.
@JainaS Its discriminatory
Either this needs to be re-worded to better explain what the actual policy is, or this is just plain discrimination. Youre segregating those with DID from the rest of the community. I can understand that you want it to be safer for them regarding which side of the site they are on, but threatening to take action on them because of their diagnosis? Its disgusting behavior.
Adding to previous post since we can't edit. How would a 4 year old alter know what to do, and not freak out when someone tells them they arent allowed here? Why didn't you, or this therapist youre collaborating with, think of that? Those with DID are TRAUMA victims, and what your new policy is doing is just adding to that, saying they dont belong in a support group. I apologize for this being so long but I am very upset about this.
Dear 7cups community, this post is very discriminatory, offensive and sooo unprofessional said, this is supposed to be a support website where everyone can get support and in case of crisis they should be referred. Im so mad at this because people with DID, OSDD and age regression all should be valid in here and have the same rights because they're persons. Seems that no one from here is aware of mental health issues and so why tehn being a mental health site/support when you cant provide support to everyone?.
THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. 7cups is not showing by this writting the values and the mission that predicts to say. It's a shame this post and to EVERYONE that is part of the DID community OSDD singlets etc you're more than welcome because YOU'RE HUMAN and your voice matters and your feelings too, no one should feel ashamed and hide. If real life is already painful and not safe why not being here were it's supposed to be a community that supports and cares about the others.
There are way other things to be changed than this. I'm sooo mad about this post wheres the professionalism and empathy in here? wheres the active listening skills? because i dont see it.

I saw a notification saying that 7cups will always be free for everyone . Everyone includes all communities. I don't want this protocol. I have friends in the DID Community. I never thought I'd lose this friend but I lose everyone. In the begining I was confused about DID. You know changed that? Interaction I talked to my friend's alter. I understood all about it. She was so nice, it felt like a sibling. I request the, rule makers of 7cups to please interact with people who have DID, understand them, and then make the rules!
@CaptainRex I go little soo tbh I won't feel safe and is hard everything they should change this rule and that everyone can be welcome not leaving apart some people
@Glossytears
I understand tears. This post targets the DID community in a very bad and discriminatory way. Unacceptance is not the 7cups way. But together we stand. Our strength lies in our unity. I hope they change this policy ASAP! I have so many friends with DID and I don't want to lose them.🥺😭😭
@CaptainRex hugs
@Glossytears I agree Glossy. I hope to keep hearing from those with DID in chats.
