Update: Mod Names Being Added To Warnings
I am Very pleased to hear this will go into effect
My personal take on this: It would seem... the only Mods who would be opposed to this, are the ones who Warn members without showing themselves.That violates Site Policy. I can't see anyway to justify wanting to Hide
Seems like a great idea to me! I doubt it would perpetuate any further mod hate because mods are already slated for their decisions all the time, it just means they won't be held responsible for decisions they didn't make. I'm just wondering if mods are still encouraged to be active in the chat before they give out warnings now that they are clearly idenitifed? I personally wouldn't want to give out warnings without being active anyway but occassionally there may be a case where it seems necessary, so I would like to know if lurking is still discouraged in the same way as before this update took place?
@Gemma8483
Personally, I discourage lurking except in the following instances:
* I'm a mod buddy and I'm assisting a newer mod
* I'm watching the 'big pro's' in action to continue to learn
I also discourage any action taken without first announcing myself and trying to kindly ask people to be supportive etc. Unless:
* Someone is spamming (spammed messages are tough to grab!)
@Heather love this feature as I have experienced those problems a lot of times when some ninja mod just mute people without telling the active moderator and I got called "a horrible person " for it.
@Heather That means if i give warning to the troll if they break the rules , now they can know my name and this will leads to that they(troll) can abuse / harass me in PM personally , Wow ?
@MouniCE
If that were to happen, it only takes a few seconds to block them... right? It's not like you'd be subjected to ongoing harassment
I would think most Trolls would try to stay under the Radar anyway. PMing a Mod only brings the spotlight on them. Hopefully that won't be much of an issue
@ChromeLotus
hopefully! ^^ I like this new update. Makes me think "do I really want my name attached? Does this really deserve a warning?" Like yesterday I almost gave one but thought "they're just upset." So I didn't !
I've only been in the rooms and one particular always seems to stir the pot rather than calming and addressing the situation. I think for this reason it is helpful that the warning to mods is needed. Normally mods are repected and appreciated for their grate servious they do for this site. Good idea
