Update: Mod Names Being Added To Warnings

I really hope it doesn't cause a problem. Some people dislike moderators just because we're moderators and this lets them direct their hate/anger more specifically and may result in them contacting us privately with abuse. Though I see why this has happened.

Thanks for your feedback (as always). Like everything, we need to test it out and see if this update ends up being a net positive for the community. If we find out this causes more harm to group support than good, we can update it/ roll it back...etc.
@SilentSerenityy it could also work out for us. If members know who is warning them they wont blame innocent mods for warning them and yelling at them for being warned. Say a lurking mod is in the room and i join in and heaps of people or one person is warned for no reason. Since im the only visible mod they will all blame me but now that this name system is in place they would be able to see who it actually is. Hopefully this will eliminate the more majority spread mod hate and those members who hate mods for being mods. They will finally understand that its not the entire moderator community but just either new mods or mods who got it for the wrong reasons. I know its a longshot but ihopefully this will encourage members to report those specific lurking mods. Which in turn lessens the overall mod hate. I know it isnt the best of things but its a start. As for those who dont like warnings and yell at a moderator for warning them. There are rules in place for it to not happen ie warnings and if it spreads to pms blocking and reporting.

I understand. There have been a few times where two active moderators are working, one person gets warned, they ask who warned them but we just don't respond to those questions and then they just forget it. No hate is directed because they don't know who to direct it to. I hope this doesn't come with more mod hate though.
@SilentSerenityy yeah exactly and sadly that's where a lot of fights happen too because they feel ignored then they overthink, think we think we are superior to them all that stuff.

I think this is a great update! It can be a bit scary to want to attach your name to something when you fear backlash, but we require this in the forums and it's a good way to test to make sure you are sure it's a fair warning (or in the forums, edit) to give - if you're not comfortable putting a name against it, are you positive that it's a warning that should be given? And, as you pointed out, in many cases, mods following the rules right now are being blamed for things going wrong, so hopefully this will help build more trust!

I think this is a fair update that will hopefully clear up misunderstandings and point all chat participants into a possibly supportive and mutually considerate direction.
I understand the concern that Moderators might receive more specific backlash if their name appears next to an already alarming warning. However, I think that a lot of the tension and negative expectations around Moderators can be traced back to the inconsistency and unpredictability that was allowed to take place with fully anonymous warnings, to begin with. It's great to see this being addressed and I hope this update will bring more comfort and feelings of security into chatrooms.
In case of any troubles, Peer Supperters, Mentors, Moderator Leaders, Support Team Leaders, Moderator Buddies, and links like Why did I get this warning?, The Group Mod Zone, Group Support Member FAQ, The Role of a Listener in Group Support, Group Mod Role: Duties and Expectations, Resolving Conflict in Group Support Chatrooms and so on, either as supplementary resources for the Moderator or other chatroom participants, might be helpful.

@Heather this is a really great and needed feature. I think will creat amore trusting environment in chats between mod and member which is something we really need.

I thought I'd just share my view on this. While I think that increasing transparency is great, I think this will just add to the mod hate. I like to look at both sides and I see both of them very well, but my concern is especially for new mods, they have one more thing to worry about.

The way I see it, Mod hate happens no matter what. you are always going to have people spewing hate. With the names being attached, there is going to be less lurking mods giving warnings and if it does happen, at least the mod active in the room won't get the hate associated with the warning there.
Woah, why haven't I ever thought of this? This is an amazing idea! With all new initiatives, there will be questions, worries, etc, but that's normal. I say that we give it a try and see what happens.
