We are glad to announce our new Accessible Sharing Circle script which aims to be more accessible for users with dyslexia and/or visual impairments to read and use.

Adjustments include:

  • enlarged text
  • altered format
  • high contrasting colours
  • added a contents for ease of navigation

The script can be found here and will also be linked at the top of the existing Sharing Circle script doc. Both scripts will be available to be inclusive to everyone 🤗

Big thanks to @GoldenRuleJG for putting the idea into action and helping to create this!

If you have any feedback, please feel free to let us know in the comments or send me a message

A couple of comments on the New Accessible Sharing Circle Script.

Thank you for developing this.

My comments include:

1. There is an Open Source Dyslexia font (downloadable here: https://opendyslexic.org ) that a person can run the script through to make it easier to read/more accessible. On 7 cups, the Forum Messages default to another font. I did try running this message through the Dyslexia font, but it defaulted. For the person who has Dyslexia, the Open Source Dyslexia font might make the text in any script more readable.

2. In Essence, the Hour of Sharing Circle could in fact be distilled to:

Gathering and Intro

Queuing up

Sharing in turn for up to 7 minutes each.

Up to 3 minutes for supportive comments in between

Up to 10 min. per share.

Share 1

Share 2

Share 3

Share 4

Share 5

Share 6

Conclusion and Farewell

I don’t really see why Facilitating a Sharing Circle has to be more Complex than that.

Sharing Circles can be Beautiful in their Simplicity.

Maybe more people would step up to Facilitate Sharing Circles if they realized this.

Love and Courage,

Tas

@VioletVeritas

Hey Tas, thanks for your feedback. We have used Arial font which is on the list of fonts that are most legible for those with Dyslexia.

This script has been simplified in every way possible compared to the original script and with the contents navigation it's hopefully much easier to use and jump between each section as needed. If you'd like to share more detail about which part is too complex, please PM me 💙

Hi Tas,

Thank you for the feedback, input and suggestions. We wanted to break it down as much as could and simplify it . Having been to a webinar on dyslexia , the non-handwritten text are said to be most helpful.
