Welcome to the very first week of our 5-week Wellness Accountability Huddle! We are so excited to have both our returning members and a warm welcome to all the new folks joining this private space for the first time.

Every Friday, I will be sharing a summary here in the forum from the optional live checkin I host (3PM ET Fridays) for everyone to reflect on. To get us started, please share your thoughts on any of these questions:

  1. Introductions: What brings you here, and what do you hope to gain from this space?

  2. Define Your Roadmap: What are 1–2 wellness goals (physical, mental, or emotional) you’d like to achieve over this 5-week challenge?

  3. Connect with Your "Why": Why are these goals important to you right now? What will reaching them change in your daily life?

  4. Make it SMART: How will you turn these goals into plans? Ensure your goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. You can use this template. You do not need to have your SMART goals figured out yet, but use this first week to think through them.

  5. Group input: Do you have any interest in either participating in or hosting a live checkin in the room? If you are interested in attending these, please reply below with your general availability. It's okay if the availability changes week by week. We just want to gauge the best possible timeframes for people to volunteer to host sessions and bring more live support to the Huddle! Speaking of...

For the Huddle room:
Try to drop in every day and share your progress, your struggles, ask for help, and respond to each other. This is a peer-supported group, so the strength of this space comes from our collective presence. We aren't just here to hit our own individual targets; we’re here to build a culture of showing up for one another so no one has to pursue their wellness alone!

Begin takeoff! 🚀

  1. Introductions: What brings you here, and what do you hope to gain from this space?
I'm here to help make self-care routine, and to push forward in my professional goals. Having others cheering for me is a huge help!
  2. Define Your Roadmap: What are 1–2 wellness goals (physical, mental, or emotional) you’d like to achieve over this 5-week challenge?
I want to solidify my self-care routine (regular yoga and meditation), as well as get some freelance clients.
  3. Connect with Your "Why": Why are these goals important to you right now? What will reaching them change in your daily life?
My biggest barrier in life right now is a lack of money. I also know that to keep myself sane and happy, I need to take better care of myself. These two things together will help me realize a better life for myself.
  4. Make it SMART: How will you turn these goals into plans? Ensure your goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. You can use this template. You do not need to have your SMART goals figured out yet, but use this first week to think through them.
Professionally, I want to get at least one client in the first two weeks, and build on that momentum with 1-2 more in the weeks following. Regarding self-care, I want to establish when I'll be doing yoga and meditating, and then doing those tasks at least 3 times a week. After week 3, I would like to be doing them up to 5 times a week.
  5. Group input: Do you have any interest in either participating in or hosting a live checkin in the room?
I don't think I'll be able to host, but I would certainly love to participate in more of them. Mondays through Fridays, at present, I am available from 11AM-3PM (CST)

@HappySpecter

I'm here because I know that when I'm not attempting to keep myself responsible in a closed environment, I do better. I can create goals all day long, but it's simple to drift or lose steam without some discipline and genuine check-ins.

Consistency and showing up for myself in a way that truly stands for what I'm hoping to achieve. I want a place where I can celebrate my progress, even the little victories, be honest about where I am, and be challenged when I start falling back into old routines.

I'm here to help as well. I enjoy being a part of something where we encourage one another, exchange thoughts, and keep one another going.

What are 1–2 wellness goals (physical, mental, or emotional) you’d like to achieve over this 5-week challenge?   I want to work on creating consistency in two areas:  First, physically, I'd like to exercise my body with meaning at least four times a week, even if it's simply for a walk or a quick workout. The idea is to create a habit rather than an all-or-nothing effort.  Second, mentally/emotionally, I want to make time to recharge each day, whether it's a few minutes of silence, journaling, or simply getting away from the chaos. I want to be more present and less impulsive, especially when situations are difficult.

Why are these goals important to you right now? What will reaching them change in your daily life? These goals are important to me right now because I've felt how easy it is to go on leisurely routines and carry stress without really considering it, and it starts to influence everything: my energy, my focus, and how I show up every day. If I stay with them, I suppose the biggest change will be that I will feel the same way all the time. Moving around a lot should improve my energy and attitude, and taking a few minutes to clear my head will help me deal with things more calmly instead of getting stressed out. Day to day, that means having a little more focus, a little more tolerance, and feeling like I have more control over my schedule instead of always trying to catch up.

How will you turn these goals into plans?  I'm making a simple, well-thought-out plan for my goals: For my physical health, I will move with intent (by walking, doing light workouts, or something similar) at least four times a week for at least 30 minutes each time for the next five weeks. To stay responsible and make changes if needed, I'll keep track of this every week. With my present schedule, I can do this, and it helps me reach my goal of having more energy and being more consistent. For my mental and emotional health, I will refocus for at least 10 minutes every day for the full 5 weeks. I will do this by writing in a book, meditating, or taking a break from distractions. I'll keep track of when I finish this and quickly think about how I feel afterward. Both plans are achievable, well-thought-out, and directly related to making my daily life better and improving the way I feel.

Do you have any interest in either participating in or hosting a live check-in in the room? Not at this time

Since our check in yesterday, I've gotten a bunch of work in -- they dropped a bunch of tasks on us, and I got 8 hours total. To celebrate, I got a pizza and watched Sapphic movies until I went to bed. One of my faves from last night was Carol with Cate Blanchett; I have a thing for period pieces apparently 😜

Today, I've made sure to take care of myself while working -- I did yoga this morning, took a walk during lunch (I like to walk and eat), and I just finished one of my favorite guided meditations from my favorite practitioner ("Becoming Your Own Beloved: Ritual of Self-Love." by Sarah Blondin, if anyone's interested). I'm feeling rather hopeful now.

  1. Introductions: What brings you here, and what do you hope to gain from this space?
I find I am able to achieve tasks/ goals when there is accountability, set guidelines and motivation/ encouragement from others. I also hope to be able to support others in their journeys.
  2. Define Your Roadmap: What are 1–2 wellness goals (physical, mental, or emotional) you’d like to achieve over this 5-week challenge?
My goals are focused across career, physical health and personal growth. I would like to be employed in the mental health/ community services sector. I am also aiming to continue broadening my writing style by reading books by different authors. I am also working on my physical health especially mobility and flexibility.
  3. Connect with Your "Why": Why are these goals important to you right now? What will reaching them change in your daily life?
I recently turned 33 and am wanting to start living life the way I want and doing things that I am passionate about. This includes helping people using my own mental health journey in a professional capacity like a peer support worker. I am also wanting to get back into my second passion writing and expanding my skills to hopefully be able to write a novel one day.
  4. Make it SMART:
My goals are to apply for a minimum of 10 mental health jobs every week to increase my chances of getting a job in an area I am passionate about, read at least 20-30 pages of a physical book every day to expand my writing skills, and do 10-20 mins of stretching each day to improve mobility and work towards doing the front splits.
  5. Group input: Do you have any interest in either participating in or hosting a live checkin in the room?
I think that would be fun. I live in Australia though so my active times might be different to other people in the group. I don't mind staying up one night and hosting. Let me know what times most people are active in the group chat and I will see what day I can host.
