we all know what to do… so why dont we do it?
hey guys quick question
does anyone else feel like they know what to do to be healthy… but just dont do it sometimes 😅
like we all know the basics right
drink water, move a bit, sleep better, eat okay
but some days its just… not happening lol
lately ive been trying not to be super strict about it
and just telling myself "ok just do the easiest healthy thing rn"
sometimes thats literally just drinking water or taking a few deep breaths
so yeah just wondering—
what’s your super easy healthy habit that you still do even on your worst/laziest days?
@AmberHearthGlow
As a Fitness Instructor, even I can agree that some days can be more challenging than others depending on what we have going on. And Sometimes our head just isn’t in the game.
For me personally, I choose something that is non-negotiable for myself. And for me that is “Movement”... I choose to get in a particular amount of steps everyday. And mainly that’s through Group Fitness classes….
But if there are times where I’m not feeling up to going physically or it’s a holiday, or I’m on vacation, or have something else going on in a particular day, then I figure out other “smaller” ways to move more throughout that day... (Whether it’s simply doing household chores, walking my pup, taking extra steps around the grocery store, shopping, walking the beach, or doing light steps & movement while watching a Tv show or on the phone)… by the days end, I have met that step goal & possibly more
If getting in “something” healthy each day is a priority, I would say choose the one thing that is doable for yourself and “meet yourself halfway”, By doing what you “can” do!
@AmberHearthGlow For me, it's water. Regardless of the day, what I'm going through or how I feel-- I gotta have my water. I literally feel like I can't survive without it and feel horrible when my body doesn't get enough. Must just be a brain thing because I love cold water with lots of ice to eat. I always have to have it available. 💧🧊 That's as much as healthy goes for me. Lol.
@AmberHearthGlow
I think at the end of the day we are creatures of comfort. Our default state is to seek the paths of least resistance. To prioritize pleasure over pain. We're wired that way on purpose. Nature doesn't do anything by accident. I try not to beat myself too badly over that.
My super easy healthy habit that I do even on my laziest days is keep myself clean. Shower, shave, and teeth at minimum. Days when I miss that routine always end up feeling wildly off.
@HearshotKid
Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense… we really do go for what feels easiest 😅 I like how you don’t beat yourself up over it tho, that’s something I’m still working on.
And honestly keeping up with basic hygiene is a solid one. When I skip that stuff I feel off too, like the whole day just feels weird. It’s simple but it really does make a difference.
@AmberHearthGlow
That's the gap between knowing and doing. Its very common and happens cus doing things we know push us out of our comfort zone. Brains hate that.
I once read a book called the atomic habits where author gave a tiny idea to help our brain brigade the gap between knowing and doing which was : making the process easy.
I used that trick to help myself get into habit of daily running for fitness (#day16 yay) i started by
1. Keeping my jog outfit ready
2. And just coming out on the park (running or not running. Just go out)
It worked. ✨️
How is your goals going? ❤️
@CelestialSolace
Omg congrats on day 16!! That is actually huge. 🥳 I love the 'just show up' rule... it takes so much pressure off honestly. My goals are going okay-ish lol mostly because I’ve lowered the bar so much. My version of just showing up lately is literally just putting on my sneakers. even if i only walk to the mailbox and back it counts as a win in my book!! GL with the running!
@AmberHearthGlow
Oh thats awesome! Exactly how I started. ✨️
@AmberHearthGlow
Yes, it's human nature 😂
Tiredness.
Putting it off until tomorrow.
Procrastination.
Bad weather.
Lack of motivation.
I try to do small daily consistent things so it's not overwhelming 🩷🤗
@Amanda84
ugh literally all of those!! the weather is such a mood killer too 🌧️ lol. love the small daily things approach... what’s like your #1 tiny thing you do even when the motivation is at zero?? i srsly need some new ideas for my lazy days haha
@AmberHearthGlow
I literally have to just get up and not think about anything and get it done , only thing that works for me 🩵
@AmberHearthGlow drink water only, help others, eat better each day, sleep for 8 hrs a night consistently and try to get as much sunlight as possible every day.
Left out one main ingredient. Always have fresh, frozen berries on hand for snacks. Love em.
@AmberHearthGlow taking walks everyday even when I think it feels pointless
@AmberHearthGlow Yep! Lots! I know there are certain foods I need to avoid, and I know I shouldn't drink... but dammit sometimes it just hits the spot!
