It's debilitating and affects everything. My mind gets so loud and messy. It's beyond exhausting. I have to rely on prescription medication to be able to sleep. I'm married, I work and I have two children so lounging around in the day is not an option.
Try milk a teaspoon of ginger 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 2 desertspoons honey cold or warm 20 to 30 minuits before bed ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Thanks @wwwace sounds like it would taste awful but worth a try.
If I cant sleep I raid the fridge or panty or both and have a feast. Yes you read right a feast. Cake biscuits sandwiches milk tins of food cheese youghurt and stuff myself on a couple of thousand caloriescor more. Then wake up and have a big bowl of porridge
I eat Nutella out of the jar with a big spoon.
its like being sucked into a giant black hole with no way to stop it.
I end up a gatbage bin for anything in the fridge pantry or in the house. Eat the night away literaly
Same for me. I try not to. My friend told me it was because my body senses that it is tired, and so tries to make it up by eating since I can't sleep.
Exhausting. I get very little sleep. I wake up feeling worse than before I fell asleep. It is like sleep is draining. There are days where I get no sleep whatsoever. During the day, I am sluggish. Mentally and physically. I cannot think much, or straight. Everything is more stressful. I am now afriad to go to bed.
Annoying, my body is tired and so are my eyes but my brain is just doesnt wanna shut down for the night. And if I shut down, its either for a few mins or hours long. I just want my mind to stop thinking so much..
I struggle with going to bed at a decent hour because I have lots of stress and my computer keeps me awake to nearly about 3 am at the latest, but it kinda takes away the stress. I feel very tired and I'm drained of energy for most of the day, though I do have short bursts of energy sometimes. If I even attempt to improve my sleep my mind just keeps racing and my body won't calm down. It's a major frustration to deal with. I don't really want to take anything because I don't want to be dependent on sleeping aids for the rest of my life. I just can't calm down so I can sleep.
For me, it's a living hell! People who haven't suffered from insomnia believe that you are wide awake and fresh as a daisy and it's fun to sit up all night watching crappy tv shows.Well, no.....I want to sleep I am unbelievably tired but I just can't drift off. I sit in work like a zombie because my body can't function the way it should. No amount of not drinking caffeine helps. I've tried all the wives tales too. I just look forward to the very few nights that I manage to get more than two hours sleep
It's awful... though sometimes it can be useful... I have insomnia myself, and sometimes it can get pretty bad.
I would say that I'm not like most people that have issues sleeping that is related to insomia. I find that most of the time I can pass out just fine (most of the time) but that I awake often in the night with no cause, or I have awful nightmares and feel even more tired when I wake. I'm finding the less proper sleep I get the more I mean one thing and same something else like "I'll take the chairs today" instead of 'stairs' (this happened). Most of the time I get more hyper then has nasty crashes where I nap for hours on end, wake up more tired than can't sleep all night! Not sleeping well is ruining my life :(
@Hijinkz
I can relate to this completely. I've always been someone who falls asleep really easily but has great difficulty in staying asleep. And when I wake, it is ALWAYS at 2.30am.
Something which is a bit of a challenge but worked for me was this. I used melatonin for a while on the advice of my doctor and it certainly seemed to help in getting my sleeping pattern back on track. Another option to consider.
