WEEKLY HEALTHY LIVING CHECK-IN APRIL 14th, 2018
HEY EVERYONE!
WELCOME To Our End of the week "WEEKLY" HEALTHY LIVING CHECK-IN!....We are already "HALF-WAY" through the month of April!
I hope that everyone's week has been going well!... I didn't get a chance to "Respond" to Everyone's Posts over this past week.. I have been really busier than average, and I like to sit down, and take my time and read through each one...adding my personal thoughts to your individual shares..... However, I do want everyone to know, that even though I didn't get to do that, I "DID" Personally continue to read through EACH & EVERY ONE of them!..I love that we can ALL come together here at the "End" of Each week, and talk about our week , and continue to Support one another in a positive way.... Just know that I really do appreciate EACH one of you who stop by here weekly and Check in... I know that it can be helpful to just share our weeks, and help us to stay on track or accountable... or simply, just to know that someone is here who cares and wants to know how you've been doing~
*How Have things been going for everyone this past week?!
*Can you believe we are already half-way through this month?! What things have you been up to?
*What goals or plans do you feel you are doing well with? What things do you still need to work on?
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week?
*How many of you realized that "FRIDAY" was the "13th"?! Is anyone out there "superstitious"?! What is YOUR superstition!?
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!

**ANY & ALL NEWBIES!! YOU ARE WELCOME TO SHARE!!
**This past week has been seemingly busier for me than average.. Its seems like I was "on the go" alot.. Which is strange, because I really didn't do anything "different"? lol...
**I've been on great track this week with workouts and eating... I taught my Usual Zumba class, and co-taught one... But I had to "Cancel" one of my classes this past week due to an issue at the facility I teach at. But I at least got the morning off that day and got to sleep in a little bit..... But I had to find something else to do to get a workout in. (Not that its anything I didn't already realize), but I realize how challenging it can be for me to workout, without the "motivation" that I need of having others working out with me!... That group, the commraderie, its inspiring and motivating to me. I find that I feed off the energy of others..Its just not the same when I have to figure it out alone. But.. I got something in that day, and went to another instructors class in the evening.....I attended a few 'Toning' classes this week, and looking forward to continuing to "tone-up" some areas. My arms mostly. I love to wear tank-tops in the summer time.. and that is fast approaching.....And to continue to just increase my "Over-all" upper body strength which I have lacked lately.
**I'm continuing to work on increasing water intake, and over-all sleep. That can be like a "roller-coaster" with "both"!.. But at least I try. And will continue to get better. Wheather is still "trying" to become more spring-like, but it keeps going back and forth with the chilly air. Today is supposed to be warmer, at least I've been able to get out for a few walks here and there, and get the puppy out too.
**Today is my usual Rest Day, but I've been working through those these past few months, and continuing with POUND Fitness classes on Saturdays. Its just enough of a workout that its not "too" strenuous" yet, I burn awesome calories, and get in tons of "steps" all while having fun, letting loose, getting a full-body workout, and Rockin' out to great music. I have TWO weeks left until I get my License to teach it as well.~ So I'm looking forward to that before this month ends.
**Husband will be out of town over-night, so I will have the majority of the day with my puppy. Just the two of us. Not sure if my son is coming over yet or not after work since he gets off pretty late..... So just going to try my best to keep anxiety low while he's gone, and keep myself busy today with cleaning, and catching up on some movies I recorded.~ (Yep, outside of working out day to day, and going shopping every weekend, I'm pretty much a "Home-body")
HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!~ ![]()
@PoliteOcean
Hey Ocean! :D its perfectly OK to not have responded- personal life in my opinion is usually of higher priority!
Ooh, maybe you had more of the same tasks to do? Or too little time to do the things you usually do (what happens to me on my busy weeks haha)
Nice work with staying on track! It can be so hard to do, but reading your posts and knowing that youve stayed on track provides me some motivation to try and get back on track haha so thank you! I love how you see the positive in a negative situation- you had to cancel a class, yet you got to sleep in because of it. So good! And its great that you figured something out that worked for you to replace the group class. Group workouts can be really fun and motivating, I totally agree, and when were used to a certain setting of where and with who we work out with, it can be really hard to transition to the opposite type of setting! Sometimes its good though, in my opinion, to expose ourselves to new and different ways of doing the same thing, and be at peace with whatever life throws at us :) way easier said than done though, of course...
I also love the proactive stance youre taking on toning up your upper body (instead of being like me sometimes and complaining about my lack of muscle hahaha)
Again, loving the positivity! Water intake and sleep are definitely some of my biggest challenges as well, especially as I dont put them on as high on my priority list as I should... but yes, trying is the key and improvement will occur! :D
I hope youre taking good care of yourself when working out through your rest days, and letting your body the time it needs to properly heal! But it sounds like POUND Fitness is doing great for you, and it seriously sounds like a lot of fun from your description! Ahh, I cant wait till you have your licence to teach! So exciting! And its coming before the end of this month, which for some reason in my brain, makes it even more exciting?! Haha are you planning to get started teaching as soon as youve obtained your licence??
That sounds like an awesome day, just you and your puppy hanging out together! I hope your anxiety will be on the down low for the day, and cuddle your puppy! Haha being at home can be relaxing for some people (me included!) but its good that you go out to work out too! What a nice balance of indoors and outdoors. I hope your day goes by smoothly, and have a great week ahead! Its always lovely reading about your week! xx
@rebecca947
Thank you so much for being so supportive all the time! Your positivity in this community is Amazing!..
And I'm thinking that I will possibly teach POUND at that location that I used to work at? Haven't decided yet.. I imagine it will take me a little bit to get the routines together to creat and teach a 45-60 minute class.
But its exciting to think about :)
Also my weekend went well being home with the dog.. lol.. Not as bad as my "mind" likes to create it to be! lol... Anxiety wasn't too bad, it tried to kick-in, but I worked hard to kick it out. lol...
@PoliteOcean
How Have things been going for everyone this past week?!
Things havent been too well this week unfortunately, still struggling but better than last week! Kind of haha healthy eating is beyond saving point at the moment, been pigging our so much :p I will save myself soon... exercise has gone out the window too, unless walking around a shopping centre for days on end and hours on end is called getting in some light exercise... to be fair, my feet killed after I got bored and sat down haha but thats me always anyway when it comes to shopping- I dont enjoy it too much! Ive been wanting to sleep endless amounts and have been sitting down in my house for the entire day if I dont need to leave the house. Its contributed to my low mood, and my low mood has made it hard for me to want to leave and do anything. Its a perpetuating cycle.
*Can you believe we are already half-way through this month?! What things have you been up to?
Its crazy how fast a month goes by! I havent been doing much at all haha no studying, rushed an assignment (never done that before) and will be probably rushing another assignment due quite soon. I literally have just been a couch potato. Oops! Kinda saddens me that Ive turned from this active person to now this, but it will change soon. Its just poor mental health is triumphing my life at the moment.
*What goals or plans do you feel you are doing well with? What things do you still need to work on?
I need to work on too much to list :p but I guess Ive kept some of my positivity, which is always good in times like these. Ive kept my humour, which is definitely much needed sometimes. I definitely need to work on time management and pushing through without any motivation or will to do things. Just to force myself to do things, whether I like them or not.
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week?
Highlights would probably be seeing the professional I see at least once a fortnight to check up, so that was good. Its sad that thats the only highlight this week hahaha will improve on that, too!!!
*How many of you realized that "FRIDAY" was the "13th"?! Is anyone out there "superstitious"?! What is YOUR superstition!?
Haha I answered this on another forum! I know for Chinese people, especially Cantonese speakers, the number 4 is the most unlucky number because in Cantonese, the number 4 when spoken sounds really similar to the word death, so everyone avoids it. Like when buying food, superstitious people (in my opinion, basically every Cantonese person living in China!!) buys either 3 or 5 of the foods. Oh and when I went to China, we went to a five star restaurant in this country town, and the toilets were numbered 1, 2, 3, 5. I was highly confused because I counted the number of stalls and saw only 4! That really shows the extent of which people are superstitious haha and if someone had to buy something that cost $400, they would bargain with the seller and buy it at $399.95 at the maximum!!! Its pretty funny haha Im loosely superstitious... so for example if something went wrong on a certain day, and I realise I had four of ANYTHING, I would be like AHA THATS WHY IT HAPPENED!!! but if nothing bad happened that day but I still had 4 of something, I wouldnt care or notice aha so I guess I just use the number 4 as something to blame for when things go against my wishes :p jokingly superstitious!
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
I have no transport stories this week!! Except for the fact that I fell asleep on the train and missed my stop... but nothing else besides that haha yay!
@rebecca947
Sorry to hear that things haven't gone well for you last week... and to hear that you are struggling. I hope that whatever is going on, that you are finding a way through the situation. Its ok to get off track for a bit with exercising though when you are feeling stressed, its bound to happen. But just be sure to make some time for yourself and (for your mind and mental/emotional health as well)...Also.. WALKING (whereever you decide to walk, is ALWAYS considered exercise!! lol) It doesn't matter if its around a shopping centre or not!.. Especially for days and hours on end!.lol....
I'm also sorry to hear that you've had a low mood, and its ok to just sit and take some time for yourself. Even if it means doing absolutely nothing. As long as we dont' get "stuck" in that mode... Its important that we find some joy in the "smallest" things that help us when we get in that mood.. Even if its just journaling, or watching a funny tv show, or reading a book, opening a window to get fresh air.. etc...etc... Whatever it is that helps to "lighten" your mood even if only for a little while!?!
I understand what you mean by being a "couch potato" as well.. I have been there, and I can relate to those feelings.. but again, it all comes back to finding something that helps us to get through those "low periods" which I know is easier "said" than "done".... Don't be afraid to talk to someone, reach out to someone and ask for "help" if or when you need it... Whoever you trust the most. Thats important. Sometimes we need to be able to lean on others or at least "someone" for that support. We are here for you as well!
I think that whatever you are going through, its also great that you feel you have kept your "Positivity AND Humor!" Thats really important and can really get you through some of the tough and challenging times.
Also, I think its AWESOME that the highlight of your week was checking in with your professional!.. That really is awesome! Think about it, not everyone can say that... not everyone has a professional to turn to...so its great that you have that. I know how very beneficial that can be!
Also, OMG.. What you shared about the Superstitions was really interesting to read!! Thank you for sharing that! I will have to share that interesting fact with my husband! lol... I really enjoyed reading through that.. Now that is some REALLY BIG superstition right there. I have never heard of that!... Thanks so much for sharing that interesting tidbit! lol...
Also sorry to hear that you fell asleep and missed your stop!.. Where did you end up??! lol...
Thank you so much for checking in, I really enjoyed reading through everything. I hope that you are doing well and feeling somewhat better!! Please take care of yourself! I hope that you have been getting rest as well!
Was a very busy week, but keeping anxiety in check. Spring is here. Spent yesterday doing yard work and enjoying the warm weather. Was surprised I almost did 10,000 steps just working around the yard. Just thinking of warm weather going forward has been a positive boost for this week. Trying to keep exercising and eating healthy. Made eggplant meatballs instead of traditional meatballs. Many recipes on the internet. I like eggplant so they were very tasty and low calorie. The last couple of holiday pounds does not want to disappear. Will keep working on it. Have to watch my carbohydrates. Eat a high fruit and vegetable diet with seafood or chicken, but have to watch rice and pasta portions. Friday the 13th was a good day for yard work, no bad luck. Enjoy your weekend.
@sail46 I like what you shared about eggplants :) I feel inspired to integrate it. Purple is a color rich in nutrients. I always failed at prepping them, but I may give them another shot.
Thank you for the well wishes :) I hope your weekend is going well :)
@sail46
What a great check in Sail!.. Glad to hear that everything is going so well for you!.. I am like you and STILL anticipating the warmer weather ahead... Its been a little up and down still, breaking through some days, and disappearing the next.. But I guess thats how it can be with Spring.. Im waiting for a very hot summer ahead with lots of sunshine!..
Its awesome that you got your gardening in and awesome work on the steps!... Continue to keep up the great work.. I'm still working on those holidays pounds as well, but getting alot closer!... Keep going!.. And thank you for checking in!
*How Have things been going for everyone this past week?!
I signed for a student loan so that I may pursue life coaching. :) I met a new friend, intoduced people to one another: my friend to my brother. Work was great. Exhausting, but great.
*Can you believe we are already half-way through this month?! What things have you been up to?
SEE ABOVE :)
*What goals or plans do you feel you are doing well with? What things do you still need to work on?
Me? I am transitioning to more of a long term work phase :)
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week?
Reconciling my emotional state, and signing for the student loan. :)
*How many of you realized that "FRIDAY" was the "13th"?! Is anyone out there "superstitious"?! What is YOUR superstition!?
No superstition for me :) but my students forewarned me :)
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
Positive self-talk and friendly support, saved me this week :)
@SteadfastStatue
Awesome for you on the Student loan!.. I'm sure you are so excited! I'm very happy for you that you are getting closer to your dreams and plans!...
Also, "Another" Awesome that Positive self talk and friend support saved you this week!... It can be challenging at times for some to have positive self talk and awareness, but its amazing that you were able to do it and get through the week. Keep up the great work!
@PoliteOcean
*How Have things been going for everyone this past week?! It's been going okay
*Can you believe we are already half-way through this month?! What things have you been up to? I haven't been up to much :P
*What goals or plans do you feel you are doing well with? What things do you still need to work on? More meditation and working out
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week? nothing really :P
Sorry, this week was boring :P
the most of the snow is over (not all, and more snow is expected in next days), I used the warmer days for enjoy a great time, take longer walks, bring my cat outside and spend some time with him in sun before it get cold again.
@vivelespatates
I hope springtime will manange to make its way to where you are very soon!.. It seems like winter does not want to let go this year sadly.. Its been up and down here too with sunny days and then chilly days lol...
Its great that you were able to take advantage of the warmer days that you had and make time for longer walks and getting your cat outside!.. My puppy has been waiting to get outside more too.... I don't like to take him out if its windy and chilly because I don't like to be out in that myself lol.... But it looks like you utilized the warmer weather that you had in a good way!
@PoliteOcean Hahaha! I'm loving that Justin Timberlake meme. Eating habits are slipping but it's nowhere near as bad as they were. My exercise habits have gone downhill and I need to pick it back up again. I lack motivation in that area. I don't know why I am making it hard for myself, but I'm still hopeful I can overcome my bad habits.
@essdee
hahah.. glad you liked the Justin "Meme" lol...
Also, you CAN overcome ANY bad habit that you feel you have.. it can be challenging of course... I will be honest, I LOVE food... and I DON'T care to exercise much.... I never did...
But for me, it was finding something that i liked and could stick with... (For me Zumba, or Pound Fitness etc..)... But I also find that I need "motivators" as well.. .which might mean working out with others to keep me accountable.. By taking classes, or finding a walking partner or whatever that is or means for you....
I do hope that you are able to figure out the types of things you like to do or even think you might like to do.. start there first, and then perhaps try to find a way to make it work for you and make it enjoyable! Whatever that is!...
Also, so glad to hear from you! Thanks for checking in!!!
HEY EVERYONE! :D - Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I'm finally losing weight thanks to Thrive by Le-Vel (not an ad lol) and HARD WORK such as strict diet and increased physical activity <3! I hope everyone is able to meet their goals this week! Have a wonderful one <3 :)
@TheColorsAreEverything Congratulations! It sounds like your hard work is paying off ^_^
Thank you for the well-wishes, have a great week!
I missed last week's check-in due to a major family event following a very stressful week. This week was less stressful but my diet and alcohol consumption are not good. I am up several pounds and I need to get myself in check. Not going to be easy with endless end-of-year treats at school. I have been exercising, at least. I walked in the park 3 times this week, twice a 45 min trail and yesterday 75 minutes including two big hills. I wish the hilly trail were closer to the trailhead because it is challenging and I'd love to do it more often until it gets easier but don't often have the time to hike all the way out there!
@PoliteOcean I want to say how much I appreciate your individual replies each week. I am sure you are busy every week, but it means a lot that you take the time to read and respond. Don't worry about being extra busy now and then. You do so much for the community!!
@SadMe70
Hey there Sad!.. I hope that you made it through all the weeks stressors and that your major Family Event went well! I know it can be challenging getting back on track. .. I'm still trying to get off the "last" of the "holiday" madness myself. Its great that you are taking strides to get there by walking and exercising. So don't be too hard on yourself. I'm like you... (Although 'Hills" aren't a passion of mine or anything).. I do love walking them throughout my neighrborhood.. I burn way more calories walking hills than and I like that its an "intermittent" workout as well.... Just keep going. You sound like you are on the right path, and I know the school year will soon be finished for you! Not long now! You will have to make alot more time for yourself to do all those things that you like and enjoy!...
Also thank you so much for the kind words Sad! I really appreciate it, and YOU!... And thank you so much for checking in this week!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far :)
Thank you so much <3 I hope you are as well :) @SteadfastStatue
