**So this past week has been pretty decent.. Anxiety has been low. Continuing to keep myself busy. Kept up with all activities, workouts, teaching classes, eating, & water.... did "so-so" with my Sleep. I actually got to bed at a decent time "for me" lol... the issue is that I do go to bed a later time, (yes I'm a night owl).. but I've gotten much better, however its the "waking up early"? My body has me waking up too early. Like I can't seem to fall back to sleep all the time. So therefore, its cutting me behind on needed sleep. So I tend to just get up, and start my day. I get my first workout of the day in and try to get my first 10,000 steps in by lunch time (Unless I have to get up early to teach my Zumba class). Then its already set....I've been continuing to work on Toning up more which is something I notice thats REALLY needed as we age!...So continuing to work with Free weights...
**I'm still waiting on the Spring Weather to cooperate on a more "Consistant" basis!... We get a few days of Sunshine, then a few days of clouds/rain....and on the days we get the sunshine, we tend to get "cooler" air and wind....I just like and want it to be HOT, HOT, HOT! Lol... I'm ready to be in the pool, and near the water again...And to get back to just "Walking" on a more consistant basis. I need those intervals that walking through my neighborhood gives me. I will post some photos of the "hills" in my neighborhood the next time I'm able to get out there! lol....
** I'm am looking forward to May. I'm ready to move into the summer months ahead. Hopefully some "minor" Travel?.., or a BBQ or two!.. I want to start "grilling" my meals outside.. I've seen these Grilled Vegetable Kabobs that look AMAZING!! And I'm ready to try some new and different things and change up some of my meals!
**Last, TOMORROW is my POUND FITNESS Training!! I am SOOOO Excited for this new adventure. I'm not currently planning my own full class yet, however, I already have a line-up to "Sub" for someone on a regular basis. So will see how that goes and plays out.... Just going to spend today packing up for the All-Day training.. and do some "home workouts" and take the dog for his Walk by the Lake~ Its supposed to be sunny, and my husband is out of town, so its just the Two of us today~ lol... So thankful and grateful for my ShihTzu
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE~ ![]()
@PoliteOcean
.I am curious to know what your sleep "routine" was like, beginning way back when you were a child. I know for me, since I can remember, my parents always enforced an 8pm bedtime. Now, as an adult, trying to change what my body was used to for so long, even from childhood, is an uphill battle. If I go to bed later than midnight, I struggle..but sometimes, you've got to be willing to give up sleep to really progress toward some goals...there are only 24 hours in a day. I do hope you find what works for you. Changing sleep habits takes a reworking of all aspects of your life, in my honest opinion. Best wishes with toning. :)
And here I thought I was the only one that wished for the hot, hot, hot weather. ^_^
Grilled veggies are the best. I must say, I personally prefer charcoal over propane cooked >,< Probably not great for you but I feel like it just cooks it differently and the aromatics are starkly contrasted.
Wow!!! That is so exciting! I am looking forward to that for you, you developing your own full regime for POUND fitness. I wish you the best, Ocean.
Thank you for your post and I hope you take great care :)
@SteadfastStatue
Hey Stead! Thanks again for all the kind remarks and support!
Yes, I like the charcoal grill as well! I think it makes it taste better too? Or am I imagining that? lol....I still have to buy a new grill for this season. We've been without one for a few years. I want to get my back porch done though (painted) etc....
Also... as a child, I really didn't really have a whole lot of "rules".... When I was in elementary school, I'm sure I did have a "bed-time" but even then for an elementary kid, I remember it was probably kind of late. Like 10pm? lol...It didn't really last long though.. I'm sure by the time I was 10 or 11, while I tried to lay down, I just couldn't seem to fall asleep right away.....
And by the time I was in Highschool, my mom just gave up on me all together! lol..Meaning, she knew better than to worry about a bedtime because I was so used to staying up late. I'd stay up on the phone talking to friends, or watching latenight shows until I was sleepy enough to fall asleep..... And now my own son is the "same" way!... His bed time all through school was 9pm or so.... But on weekends, and through his teen years and now into early adult-hood, he is up until like 4-5am in the mornings.. (and that is after working all night)...
Even when I worked full-time, I worked the "Nightshift" as a Nurse. first 11pm-7am, and then eventually 7p-7am.... for over a decade. I am getting better though slowly... I try my best to be relaxed enough to fall asleep by 130-2am ... Even though I know that's still "late" and needs work! lol
@PoliteOcean I think everyone has their theories about sleep. Thete is inconclusive information regarding how much sleep we actually need. I think you implementing inadvertent trial and error is how you will end up finding what works :)
*How have you been doing over this past week?!
I have been doing swell this past weekend. I have been preoccupied with some tasks outside of 7cups. Recent conversations with a few friends and I realized that I needed to cut out some tasks. I felt overextended so, I needed to make the decision to not take on any more new members here with 7cups. It is good timing because I am wrapping up week 10 of 12 of my internship on this site.
*This is our LAST check-in for the Month of April. What are your "reflections" on this past month?
This past month has been restorative. Always, Summer weather helps me to refine how to be more positive. I have a much stronger idea on what it means to be happy. I learned something that makes so much sense: the brain just cares about survival; we have to make our own happiness. Much like that phrase: Human must make their own "luck". Also, life is short, but stand your ground.
*What things are you looking forward to in the NEW Month ahead?!
Some things I am looking forward to in the NEW month ahead is to really buckle down with school work, which is all due in July before my first in person session :) I am very excited as it requires me to go in person to learn new things, and meet new people. I am looking forward to the completion of my 7cups internship. It was a unique experience and got to delve into some seriously great relationships with members and listeners, alike. It has been so humbling of an experience to connect with people all over the four corners of the world.
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week?
Two of my biggest highlights this past week have been getting my coursework mailed to me as well as beginning a new relationship. I really want to get to know her as more than a friend and me asking them out was a huge step for me.
*What are your plans for the weekend ahead?
My plans for the weekend ahead are to have fun with co workers. :) I actually made a new friend whom I plan on seeing this evening :) In addition to that, I hope to get some serious work done this morning so that I am ahead of the game, come Monday. I work all weekend. I missed out on work last weekend but this weekend is when I get to see all my friends at work and I truly couldn't have my day made better, unless I do get to speak with my partner during my breaks
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
The feelings I developed for the person I asked out, unraveled upon themself and I really am very happy in this relationship. I was happy before I started the relationship, but knowing I have her as a friend, and as more than a friend, I feel ebullient; she amplifies my life. The significance of this relationship is, is that this beautiful person, she is the first person I have dated that is the same sex as me. To those of you whom are closeted, or perhaps feel strong feelings for someone and you are concerned with what others may think: Focus on that person, and the love, and care you feel for them. What is your heart telling you to do?
Also, dream dreams that will help you to become who you want to be. Have a great month, everybody.
@SteadfastStatue
Hey Stead!
Its good for you that you have realized that you were over-extending yourself and needed to step back a little and give yourself more time...I can't believe that your interneship is almost over here... You're getting very close. It seems like you have been here so much longer though being so supportive of everyone!
I like your insight on "" the brain just cares about survival; we have to make our own happiness. Much like that phrase: Human must make their own "luck".'' That very interesting... I guess when you think about it, it tends to be true.
I'm glad that you have enjoyed your time here at 7cups.. I know I have truly enjoyed getting to know you here. I do hope that you still are able to have some time to continue to be a present face here when you can. You have certainly been a positive influence during your time here... But I can also see and hear the excitement in you about starting school and continuing to grow and learn. And I truly wish you the best on your endeavors!
Also, its really great that you have met someone special and had the courage to ask them out. How exciting to start a new relationship.. Its really special when its "fresh and new" and you get to know them. It seems like you are really genuine about your feelings for this person and how important they are to you... I wish you all the best in your newfound relationship with this person. I truly hope that it all works out for you.
I hope that you enjoy your plans this weekend of getting together with friends and enjoying time with them.
I appreciate you checking in this week and sharing with us, and letting us know how things are going for you.. Take care and have a great weekend ahead!
@PoliteOcean Your words, I do appreciate them. The feelings I am developing for this person are founded on my deep respect for them. I am always looking forward to the next day.
@PoliteOcean I hope your week has been going well :)
@SteadfastStatue
Aww..thank you Stead! I hope that your is going very well too!..
I've been a little crazy-busy, but the weekend is almost here~ So things should start to wind down a bit.
@PoliteOcean Keep the momentum going :)
Keeping my goal of 10,000 steps per day. Drinking plenty of water and eating light. With yard work and getting a chance to start gardening my anxiety has stayed in check. Keeping holiday added pounds off. I think I found a sensible calorie intake based on my activity level. I still have a goal of five additional pounds to get my Body Mass Index to 25 which is normal for my weight and height. Enjoy your weekend.
@sail46
Wow.. lots of great work Sail!..
Sounds like you are really doing a great job at staying balanced with everything in your life right now! I still have a few extra holiday pounds as well to get off so I can totally relate there. We can do it though.
Thank you so much for continuing to check in each week and letting us know how you've been doing! Continue to keep up the great work!
@sail46 It sounds like you're doing an amazing job at what you're doing! Keep up the good work! :)
I ate pretty well this week but did not get all my exercise in. My stomach and my allergies are bothering me. I can't seem to have a week where I feel ok. I did have a nice evening out last night with my older son and his girlfriend, at a classical music concert.
@SadMe70
Sorry to hear that your stomach and such are still bothering you... I was going to ask you how things were going with your stomach. You haven't stated much about it in a while so I was hoping that it had gotten better for you!
I do hope that you start to feel better soon and that things start to come together towards you being able to feel better over-all.
Sounds like you had a great time with your son and his girlfriend. What a nice outing! Its so great to keep the connections with our grown children going. I hardly get to see mine as he is ALWAYS working (and doesn't have time for "mom" lol)... Kind of like that old song, "The Cats in the Cradle" lol....... I will certainly have to catch up with that kid of mine soon.
I hope that you start feeling better, and that you have a great weekend ahead of you... Only a few more weeks and you'll be out for summer break! Thanks for checking in this week. Always a pleasure to see you.
How have you been doing over this past week?!
Not too bad. I've been pretty energised. Mentally I've been worrying a little about being stuck with these mental health issues indefinitely.
*This is our LAST check-in for the Month of April. What are your "reflections" on this past month?
It's brilliant that the days are getting longer. I'm so keen for it to become less wet and windy so I can get outside more.
*What things are you looking forward to in the NEW Month ahead?!
Going to the theatre, seeing old friends
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week?
I have been loving my workouts and got quite a few of them in.
*What are your plans for the weekend ahead?
I had counselling today but my counsellor didn't show up for the appointment. And I'm meant to be going to visit a friend tomorrow.
@ShareASmile2014
Hey there Smile!
Sounds like a pretty great check-in for you. Sounds like you are doing a good job at taking care of yourself and working towards some great goals for yourself.
I'm sorry to hear that your counselor didn't show up... Hopefully it was a good reason. I know how important it is to keep and maintain those appointments for our own emotional and mental health. Half the challenge is just showing up, and being able to talk about our feelings with someone else. Hopefully they can reschedul you and get you in soon.
I also agree... its so nice that the days are getting longer, I as well am so looking forward to the HOT weather. I just want it to be warm out finally. Its great that you are also getting those workouts in!
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing! Thank you for sharing.
I feel like things are going well - and that they will continue to go well! I have lost a total of 6.1 pounds in about 3 weeks, which is a completely healthy amount and the perfect time frame for me. I have went from 292.5 to 286.4 and I cannot be happier. I am using the products from Acti-Labs which help me with energy, weight loss, and so on! They are amazing products and I am so glad I use them. With that said, it has been hard and I have messed up but at the end of the day, we always have tomorrow to do better. And today so far has been amazing, I am about to take some important supplements as well as drink some of my meal replacement shake. I am hoping to lose weight quickly but steadily and permanently. I love this thread and I'm very thankful for it! Hope everyone has a great week!!!!
@TheColorsAreEverything
Hey there Colors!
We are so glad to have you here!.. I enjoy reading all of you posts. And Its great that the goals you are working towards are coming together for you...
I know from personal experience how challenging it can be when we set out to lose weight. But its great for you that the things you are doing are working for you in your favor. Continue to keep up the great work that you are doing and thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Continue to keep us informed on how the "losses" are going for you in your journey. And thank you so much for checking in this week!
@PoliteOcean
*How have you been doing over this past week?! pretty good!
*This is our LAST check-in for the Month of April. What are your "reflections" on this past month? learning to take care of myself first and foremost
*What things are you looking forward to in the NEW Month ahead?! lots of fun late nights...hopefully
*What have been the biggest "highlights" for you over the past week? went to a show :)
*What are your plans for the weekend ahead? work :P
@Mellietronx
Hey Mellie!
Its great that your week has gone well for you! Its also really great that you realize that you have to learn to take care of yourself first and foremost. (because nobody else can do that for us)... So we surely have to stop and make time for ourselves (mentally, physically and emotionally)...
Looks like you are also looking forward to a great month ahead in May!.. Sounds like you are looking forward to an exciting month!
I also hope that you enjoyed the show that you went to as well... Thanks so much for checking in this week! Always a continued pleasure to see you, and thanks for sharing with us!...Enjoy your weekend.
Things have been pretty good I guess, although I had days where I felt really horrible. I took a little more than a full week off at the gym last week, went back this week. Took it easier, but had a few exercises that were more difficult, so a good mix. Also went out walking for a safety program. I really hope I can manage that. I rested most of the day to be up for it, but I had a good time out in the nice weather we're finally having!
@AffyAvo We all have bad days, and I'm sorry you may have had a few. I know the feeling!
Sounds like you already know how to fix it all though, which is good. :)
@AffyAvo
Thats awesome that things have been "pretty good" for you... Sounds like more "good" than "not so good"!?
Its good that you decided to take time off... I believe we can always benefit from that at times. I try to tell myself to do the same, and make a plan to do it, but then don't stick with it.
I'm glad you feel that you had a "good mix" of exerises. I enjoy that too.....
What is this 'Safety program" that you speak of? Sounds really interesting. Its AWESOME that you felt "up to doing it"! And having nice weather makes it even better. I think Spring-time is finally trying to make its way to "staying" for awhile lol....Its great that you enjoyed it all and managed to stay feeling good through it all.
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing. Its great to see you this week!
Take care everyone
@PoliteOcean
Well, thanks for asking. This week I had moments where I hurt a lot emotionally. I will keep going despite the pain. I will continue to Journal and be honest and open with myself, even if the truth is hard to take at moments.
@bubbleChestnut3363
Hey Chestnut
Sorry to hear that you had some tough moments. Sounds like you are really trying to keep a positive attitude through it all and push through!.. I also see here that you have some great "coping skills"! Journaling is a great way to tackle our feelings. To get them out, and explore them (and even share them even if only with ourselves). It helps us to empty out and cleanse our hearts and minds of all the extra burdens and stressors.
You are doing a great job! I hope that things continue to go better for you, and that you start to feel better. Continue to keep up the great work at Journaling your thoughts , feelings and emotions. And thank you so much for checking in this week!
@PoliteOcean
Thanks; this means a lot to me.
@bubbleChestnut3363
You're welcome Chestnut! Thats what we are here for.. to support you here in this community anytime. Please check back with us as often as you'd like.. We do our Check-in's here "Weekly" (every Saturday). I'd love to hear how things are continuing to go for you.
