**This past week has been about 50/50..... For me, that means this week I started off on a slippery slope of not doing too well with my eating... I just couldn't seem to get out of that "Holiday" Mode of eating... I did so well up until Christmas, NO treats, NO cheats, None of that "Christmas cookie stuff" etc... But as soon as Christmas hit last week, I just seemed to remain in that mode through the start of the New Year.frown I finally said "Enough was enough"... The day "After" New Years, I took all the holiday decorations down (which is funny b/c it seems like I was just writing about "putting them up"!?)... but anyway got everything down, all cleaned up, and back on track with everything. Even my sleep has been really great as far as "Hours" logged because I haven't been teaching my Fitness classes so I didn't have to get up early for any of them. yes

**I didn't do much regarding ringing in the New Year, ... it was me and my hubby (and our dog of course! lol)... We watched the ball drop, in our Pajamas, and toasted the New Year. My son did call me about 10 minutes beforehand, So I at least got to hear his voice as the New Year started. So I was happy about that!....i did manage to keep up with activity this week, and I did get to incorporate the new STRONG By Zumba class this week like I wanted... Its now being offered in our Facility. Even though I'm licensed to teach it myself, I just never got around to learning all the choreo just yet with so much else going on. Maybe that could be a plan for the year ahead? Who knows? I just see that "others' classes have been on the "Larger" side this week (Which usually they are come January)... Prayerfully mine will be the same come "Next Week" too!~

**I went grocery shopping tonight, and I bought all of my healthier items to get back into full swing starting this weekend....I found this GROUPON for this Food Sensitivity testing. I did ALOT of research on it before purchasing it, and it had some VERY high ratings/reviews...But it uses a "Hair Sample", and send it off, and get your results back. It tests you for over 800 Foods/drinks/environmental toxic stuff/ and metabolism etc.... I don't usually go for things like that, BUT, because I did my research on it, and it was highly recommended, I decided to do it! I want to see "Where" I'm at with the foods that I eat and other things. If I have any sensitivities to anything etc..... A hair analysis is much more in depth than a blood testing.... Our Hair holds so much more for a longer period of time.... And maybe perhaps once I get results, I can dive more into foods I may want to think twice about or incorporate more. I will keep you informed on how it all goes. Should have results in a few weeks.

**Today is my Free Day/Errand Day... Got a few errands to run, but not much else. Weather has been rainy, but its supposed to be nice here for Saturday.~

ENJOY THE WEEKEND EVERYONE~yes

Heya Ocean! Im glad you got back on track with things- sometimes, we can move a step back in our progress but as the saying goes, its not how many times you fall down, its how many times you stand up! Thats what counts. Glad to hear youre on track again. :)

The ball drop seems like an interesting concept to me. Are there fireworks involved too? I need to watch YouTube videos haha and being surrounded by family as the New Year comes around is always so nice ❤️ Happy New Year to you and your family!!

Also, good luck with your potential gitness goal of teaching the new class! You are very talented, teaching so many different styles of fitness with all different moves in each one... :o good memory!

The groupon purchase seems really interesting! Was it expensive? It sounds pretty good to know your food sensitivities. Do you have any known allergies? Maybe you can find some mild ones through that too :p how long does it take to get back to you, I wonder? Very interested to hear that update!!

Hope your week goes well! ❤️

Hey Rebecca!

Yes there were "Fireworks" for New Years... on Tv as we watched , as well as my Neighbors setting them off as well.

There were MANY festivities going on around town..... Also HAPPY NEW YEAR to you as well! smiley

Also... as far as the "Food/Allergy Intolerance testing..... It really wasn't that expensive at all! We have some called "GROUPON" and it provides a Major discount on alot of things.... so this is where I purchased it. I am getting ready to send off my Hair Samples tomorrow to the Lab in New York!.... Its supposed to take up to about 2 Weeks to get the results back. I'm SOOOOO excited to see what it has to say. I read so many wonderful reveiws that I couldn't resist getting it and see where I stood with it...

The only thing was having to pull 6 strands of hair out my head (it wasn't required to 'Pull" them) lol.. But it made it quicker and easier lol.....Just didn't feel as wonderful though lol..... surprise

@PoliteOcean

Heya! Happy New Year to everyone ❤️ My New Year went alright! It was incredibly hot on New Years Eve, so my sister, mum and I went to the beach and had a little swim. Then we took a bit of a nap in my sisters apartment before heading out to the city. We went pretty late, and by then it was absolutely pouring with rain! And to make things worse, the big umbrella we had flipped upside down when we opened it. And we were standing right in front of the exit of the train station, and we had hundreds of people behind us 😂 great times. Anyhow, we got to the 9pm fireworks and they were so good! We got great spots for that show. We realised my mum lost her phone, but thankfully the place we were at before called and we got it back. Phew!

Then we walked to the other side of the city to go to the midnight fireworks, and lol we got horrible spots 😂 we stood right underneath the bridge, meaning we didnt even see the main fireworks! Though watching back on it on YouTube, our city made a mistake and said Happy New Year 2018 ... they had one job! It was a good laugh though. Also, the fireworks werent as amazing as last years in my opinion! We had a waterfall stream of fireworks last year, but on the YouTube video I saw, there wasnt any :(

After the fireworks, we walked 20 minutes to the train station (the main one was closed, and the closed off so many roads and we took so many detours...) but then had to wait 36mins before we got to the gates of the station... 36mins of boiling hot weather in a cramped space with hundreds of people swuashed together... great body odour smells 😂 then waited 10mins for a train, and once in the train, they had a 20min delay! Apparently there were 14hr delays too. Over a million people went to the city to watch, so made sense. I can PM you some funny stories if youd like- I feel like I wrote too much here already!

Brielfy, goals are to be more prepared uni wise and get back to exercising. Started both- Ive written notes for my lectures (have to repeat one unit due to mental health reasons) and Im modifying one of the YouTube ab challenges haha (instead of 100 reps of an exercise a day, Im starting real tiny and going for 10!) Hoping to be able to do the 100 reps a day in February.

Take care! xx

WOW... That sounds like ALOT!... lol.... Sounds like you had quite the "Eventful" New Years to say the least...... The Beach, rain, lots of people, fireworks, your mom losing her phone, cramped spaces, closed roads, body odors, .......LOL...Over all, it sounds like you had a pretty decent time despite not getting to see the amazing Fireworks of "last" year display.

It sounds great though that you got to spend time with your mom ,your sister AND the BEACH!... One of my "TOP" Favorite places to be!... Its still chilly here with it being January, even though we hardly ever get snow here in the winter months. I think I would rather it "snow" and be colder, than to be colder and be "teased" by the Sun. lol..... I wanted to travel to beach as well, which is further south of us where it still feels like Summer time most days... , but it was before Christmas time and just too busy to make happen. But oh well...it will be Spring/Summer here soon enough.

Its really great for you that you are taking time to be more prepared for your schooling and also making time for Exercise/Activity!... Sorry to hear that you have to 'repeat" a Unit... What is it that you will have to repeat? How long will that take you to do?!....

Its great that you are deciding to take things slow and 'modifying' your activity where needed.... As long as you are putting forth the effort to do something, you are doing great no matter what it is! Good luck to you on making your goals that you are setting for yourself! Continue to keep up the great work, and be sure to check back and let us know how things are going for you and your progress.

PS.... My Pm's are always open, feel free to drop by with your "more funny stories" cheeky

@PoliteOcean

Its been a rough week for me and my family. My uncle passed away a day and a bit ago.

I did not enjoy New Years. My dad was openly talking about a trauma, and although he wasnt talking to me, I overheard him and was very triggered. Although I suppose it wasnt as bad as it could have been. Im learning to deal better with that stuff. And then four of my cousins, whom I was expecting to spend New Years with, went to party with their friends instead of staying with me and the rest of my family. That kinda hurt. Especially since one of my cousins invited my other cousin with her, and didnt invite me. Although...that could be because they were going to a bar, and Im not 21 yet. I still would have liked to be included though...

New Years resolutions? Im not sure... I mainly want to continue with other goals Ive had earlier. Continue with trauma work, keep up with healthy habits like sleeping enough and at regular times and eating THREE meals a day and exercising and brushing my teeth, talking with friends and being vulnerable, continuing to use DBT skills where needed. Id also really like to get a job and make money. Spending more time outside could be good too. It generally makes me feel better, but when Im in the city for school, I have to make an effort to get to a park. I can do it though :)

Then I have other goals for the semester at school...Id like to take more of a leadership role in some clubs Im in. There are some applications Ill fill out once I get out of this death and funeral stuff... Id really like to choreograph a dance for a dance group Im part of. In classes, I want to continue asking questions in class and go to office hours more.

Some first steps... I can start working on going to bed at a regular time now, and thatll probably help me. I can also work on eating three meals a day and brushing my teeth and exercising.

I think these habits have slipped in all the unpredictable events recently. Its been hard for me to balance being there for my family and taking time to myself to take care of myself. I havent really been balancing it, its been almost all being there for my family. I know that this is a really important time for me to be there for them, and before my uncle died, it was really important to spend time with him... but I feel emotions very strongly and sometimes get to a dark place when that happens and I dont have space or time to use skills. I feel like I should put my self care on hold for my family, but Im really feeling the consequences of that now, and its not sustainable... but then I feel guilty... if anyone has and comments or ideas on what to do about this, Id appreciate it. Im struggling. I already have PTSD and am worried this is going to go down as another traumatic event. I have some images I cant get out of my mind already. But its only been a day... maybe itll pass... theres a lot to process.

So sorry to hear about your uncle .. Such losses are traumatic indeed. My deep condolences to your father, you and your family

I lost my uncle last year my father's brother and we are still trying to deal with the loss and pain as we are a very close knit family.

So please don't hurt too much and look back at his memories with fondness, that's how we all are coping.

Take care.

Glad to start year off with a fresh start with exercise and healthy eating. Was able to keep my diet in check over the holidays for the most part. Was not always easy with all the different foods and deserts over the two holidays. Breaking the hoilday eatimg mode was not easy for me also. I enjoy the hoildays, but glad to start a new year. It's a new year and a chance to get back to a more normal pace and eating habits. Weather has been good so outdoor exercise is possible. Enjoy the new year.

Hey there Sail!... Just catching up on everyone's posts... I had Fitness classes to teach which started off my first "full" week of the New Year, so I'm just getting a chance to respond back even though I read through them all this weekend!...

Glad to see that you are continuing to stay in check with everything, and jumped off that holiday mode bandwagon as well!.. lol...Its not easy, but for some reason when that "New Year" hits, its like "magic" and your mind just seems to know what its time for you body to do!?!

I too enjoy those holidays, but its nice to get back on track!...Its great that your weather is still going well, ours finally caught up with some sunshine that everyone else is seemingly getting. lol..

Thanks for checking in and keeping us up-to-date on things. ALways great to hear from you each week!

How has everyone been doing this past week?! I have been doing good, How are you?

How has this New Year started off for you so far? So far so good.

How did you all ring in this New Year? What did you enjoy most about it? I was in dream land haha

What are some "Goals, Plans, or Accomplishments" that you would like to set for yourself in this New Year ahead? I want to work on my mental health and try new things like sky diving

What are some steps you feel that you could take to put them in action or succeed at them? Just to work hard but allow myself to rest

What is one FIRST thing you'd like to work on or accomplish in 2019?! If you already have, what was it? Right now it's counting my wins, and so far i've been doing good. Turing every set back into a win. It's amazing the change

What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans? My highlights are that my doctors are happy with my progress and after work on Sunday me and a couple friends are hanging out.

Hi folks, I'm Lilian, 23 years. That's my first check-in, which is, I guess, a good start for the new year.
Things didn't go too well until now. I really struggle with self care, it was never taught me. Actually, I was always made to feel guilty about it, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression just make it all harder. So, I struggle with:
- Eating: doing it, at regular times, and decently. I also had eating disorders, so possibly without triggering myself with too strict rules
- Drinking: I NEVER drink enough water. From as far as I can remember, I've always drank +/- 1 glass of water per day. It's a miracle my kidneys are still functioning
- Sleeping: going to sleep too late, not resting, having nightmares, waking up late (I hate the feeling of it), staying in bed too much
- Exercising: I used to love it, but now it's so hard, mental health issues changed everything. I'd like to start again, as above, without triggering myself
- Health and hygene: like cleaning the house and taking proper care of my teeth, eyes, hairs, nails and doing some medical exams I keep procrastinating
- Mental health: various and possible, like stop feeling responsible for everything and, as soon as I can, dedicate to hobbies and/or relaxing things

I would start from exercise and water, I believe the rest would come easier after I set up those.

I had a nice new year's eve, by the way. Few friends, good ones. Plan was to enjoy a barbecue, then go to a pub for the traditional countdown, but everyone was having such a good time at the barbecue that no one wanted to leave to go to the pub, so we styed and had our little New year's party there. It was fun ^^ And an accomplishment, actually. I'm not too good at socializing ahahah Besides, I was triggered several times that night, for my ED and other kind of traumas, and I managed myself, it was cool laugh

@GhostlyLilian

Hey there Lilian!...

I'm so glad that you decided to post in this past weeks check-in thread! I am just getting around to checking up on everyone this week as start of the week are my busiest days of the week teaching Fitness classes~

I really love that you introduced yourself, and laid out an OVERALL idea of where your concerns are the most. This is a really great self-awareness tool. To just write it all out and have it in front of you!..

I like how you stated that if you start with "Water and Exercise" that all else will fall in line... I would agree that making "small steps" and narrowing down "where" and "how" to start is a great accomplishment!... So awesome job on that!....

I think that getting in more activity and perhaps increasing your "Hydration" levels by drinking more water could help you feel much better!...Often if we are hydrated enough, our bodies will not function properly and will be "sluggish' as well.... Making everything else seem like a huge "chore"!.... Starting with increasing your "Water" if you aren't getting proper levels would be a great route to take... Perhaps as far as activty/exercising is concerned, you could maybe start small there too, by taking a "Simple walk"!... A simple walk, in the Fresh air can do more wonders than some people could even imagine! Especially if you are out in the sunshine,... (with Sunblock of course)!! Getting that extra Vitamin D from the Sun Could in fact possibly help with your energy levels as well..... So increasing both might be amazing for yoU!

Also.. once you start 'walking' or getting activity in, that could in fact help to improve your sleep!....The better you start to feel, then all the other things that come with "hygiene" will start to come into play as well. The better you start to feel, you will want to keep up with those healthy living "appointments' for yourself! So you are right... starting "small" will eventually start to help with the BIGGER picture in the end!!

Its great that you had a few good friends to help ring in the New Year with!.. I'm glad that you had a good time and enjoyed!...

Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you!! Please continue to check back weekly and keep us up to date on your progress! And continue to keep up the awesome work that you are doing for yourself!

I am getting myself slowly back together. I ate fairly well this week, no thanks to the school! Two days back, and 2 days with junk already. No word on the weight loss challenge that the principal told me before the holidays that they were going to do. I was hoping they would launch that right away and stop having so much junk around. I didn't do much exercise this week, but will start back to that on Monday. I did take a nice walk on Sunday.

I did not stay up for New Year's Eve, but on Jan 1 I did a first day hike at a state park. It was a park I had never hiked, so it was a nice change of scenery. It is bounded by two creeks and a river, so I hiked along one creek and out to the river. On my way I passed 4 groups of people returning, and on my way back I passed one person, but the 20 min I spent at the end of the trail at the river, I had it all to myself!

Keep us posted on your test! I find that very interesting. I just had a talk with my physical therapist this week about endocrine disruptors in lotions, shampoos, etc. and I am thinking about ditching some of the products I am using. I don't want to go too crazy worrying about one more thing, but if I can reduce the load of those chemicals in my body, I would like to do it. Apparently some of those stick around in your body too.

@SadMe70

Hey there Sad!...

So great to hear from you again this past week... The start of my week was a little crazy this week with getting back to teaching my classes... I'm finally getting around to reading through everything!

Its awesome for you that you are starting to get better and get yourself back on track!...Please keep us informed about the Weightloss Challenge! My dance studio was supposed to hold one at the start of the year too, but like you, haven't heard anything more about it..Not sure If I am going to take part yet or not. I figure my body is honestly going to do what its going to do, and "WE" can only do the best that we can with what we got. Whether its the food, or the information we have, the knowledge... whatever it may be.....I try (you try)..... Keep us in the loop on it!

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get that Hike in for New Years that you wanted to do!.. How awesome for you!.. I can hear the excitement in your posts when you talk about your Hikes. I can tell its your "Soul-mate" workout! lol... Its great that you were able to have those few moments alone for yourself as well. Doesn't that time alone in one of your favorite places just feel amazing!

And yes, I will certainly keep you all posted on the "Test"! I can't wait to get the results. I was finally able to download the instructions and get it all ready to go, (along with strands of hair I pulled out my head! lolol).... Will be sending these off tomorrow! I'm excited about the whole process! And yes, there are many chemical and enviromental (as well as food) elements that disrupt our bodies in ways that we don't understand. I would like to have some type of starting point at least. I 've never done one before!

Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how things have been going! Its always great to hear from you!

Hi Everyone!

My past week was ok. Had a few days off, basically lived the life of a housecat, lais around the house doing nothing. Migh not have been the healthiest thing bt it was sure nice to forget about my responsibilities for a little while and relax.

I rang in the New Year by sleeping through it :-0. Which was ok since I had work the next day. Plus it is kind of neat to go to bed one night and wake up the next day in a New Year :-).

I want to get back to eating healthy and exercising consistntly. Kind of fell off the wagon there for a while, and even now my efforts are sporadic. I do good one day and not so good the next.

First thing I'm addressing is the amount of sugary foods I eat. Started having more sweets with the hoidays want to get that managed again.

Didn't have much planned for the weekend but I had one event today. I hosted my first successful meetup this eening afterwork. I had an attendee! (I took over as organizer for a small meet-up group). I am kind of happy about this because I get a fair amount of social anxiety and yet I managed to do this.

I hope everyone is having a good start to the New Year and is doing well! Have a geat week :-)

Hey there Owl!... So good to see you this week.

No need to feel bad about laying around the house because you had some "time off".. Sometimes that what we need!... And to be honest, it "is" a healthy thing if it helps you mentally and emotionally to just relax!

I'm glad to hear that you want to continue to keep up with living a healthier lifestyle for yourself. Everyday won't be 100% on track or plan, but all one needs to do is just try to take the "first" step or even just "simple small" steps. Every little bit helps.

Also how awesome for you that you managed to make it through a 'social situation" that could have caused some anxiety for you. Congrats to you on your success! What did your "meet-up" consist of?!

I hope that you are enjoying the week.. Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things have been going for you! Please be sure to check back and keep us up-to-date on how things are going and progressing for you!

Haiiiii :D

**How has everyone been doing this past week?!

I have been actively trying to stay active on a daily basis. I have been hiking alot ... yay me!! I may try going back to dancing soon.

**This is our very FIRST Check-in for the New Year! How has this New Year started off for you so far?

My year is good so far, starting off the new year right with healthy eating...bought and air fryer to help with that

**How did you all ring in this New Year? What did you enjoy most about it?

I was out with friends, needless to say I enjoyed a lil too much ringing in the new year but it's a celebration isnt it haha. I loved that I was my FRAmily, they help me let go of 2018

**What are some "Goals, Plans, orAccomplishments" that you would like to set for yourself in this New Year ahead?

Would love to go back to a healthy, less weighing me...so i'll work on that...and by less weight, I also mean less emotional baggage :p

**What are some steps you feel that you could take to put them in action or succeed at them?

Support group for sure, those who will motivate me. And definitely build up a strong wall to prevent any bad emotions to take over. Also it will definitely help to clean out my fridge and pantry of those things unhealthy and clean up my life of those negative ppl and emotions

**What is one FIRST thing you'd like to work on or accomplish in 2019?! If you already have, what was it?

letting go...

......

sorry gotta go back to work! But im here and will do my best to stay here and be present!! ❤

@Keola

Hey Girl!!

Wow.... sounds like there are alot of amazing things going on and happening for you right now.. Alot of "revelations" perhaps as well (with "letting go") of unwanted things in your life.

Its awesome that you have been getting in some "Hiking"! Wow, thats great . How often have you been going?! How did you manage to get into Hiking?

Airfryers are AMAZINGGGGG!!.... Love mine.. Got mine "last" Christmas and used it almost daily for something healthy. Let us know if you find any amazing recipes that you enjoy! I'm always looking for NEW stuff!

Good for you that you enjoyed a great time ringing in the New Year and made it through a year which may have been less than stellar for you and that you had someone to see you through it all.

Lastly, Its great that you have found awareness in knowing that you need a "Support Group" to help keep you motivated in your endeavors.....It sounds like you are taking some great steps at alot of New things!...

So glad to see you check-in this week, and it will be Awesome to see you more as you continue to move through your journey! Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things have been going for you!
