🌻 This past week was well and went by pretty quick... After helping my loved one through their post-surgery recovery, I was able to get back into the swing of things this week and get back to my typical daily schedule of things. I kept on track with all activity, hydration, and self-care time. Sleep was ok, but needs a little work again.
🌞 This week the weather has been amazing. Its continued to be mild, with cooler breezes, and I'm glad for the transition from the summer humidity. I continued to get out and about with the pup, keep up with Fitness classes, and currently working on Songs/Choreo to get back into instructing some again.
🌻 This weekend I will be out and about enjoying all this beautiful weather. Today (Saturday), we will be attending a local Fall Festival and do some shopping. Tomorrow (Sunday) we will be attending an Annual "Fitness Expo" that we go to yearly! I get excited about it because they will have lots of give-aways, Free Swag-bags of stuff, lots of booths & vendors, and many Fitness demonstrations. We always have a great time when we go, get in lots of walking, lots of steps, lots of great items, lots of Fitness Knowledge, and the weather will be amazing.
@PoliteOcean
I love going to fall festivals. And the fitness expo and the "swag bags" sounds like its right up my alley. They don't have things like that around here. Fall festivals all over the place being as New England has the "leaf peepers" but the fitness stuff, not so much. I hope you have a great time doing these things.
@CyclingThroughLife
Thank you Cycling~
We have 'Festivals Galore' here where I'm at.... Pretty much year round. I definitely think I see more of that here than when I lived up North. But they are definitely very enjoyable. And despite "Healthy Choices" (who doesn't love a good Funnel cake, Candy Apple or Treat every now and then)?! lol
We do have alot of "Health" Expos here as well (focusing on different variations of Health needs, products, Local hospitals/clinics that offer free health testing etc..etc.....). But I like that this one we had today focused primarily on Fitness as We don't typically see just that on its own. The one I went to today is only held annually. And each vendor/booth had something to do with Fitness, Fitness foods, Fitness Memberships, Fitness info, etc...etc...as well as all the Fitness demonstrations. I wish they would hold it more and also add new and different locations for everyone.
🌞 Hey everyone~ How are you doing and feeling today? Today I"m feeling lazy...I have a do to list I need to get done but am procrastinating.....I just spent an hour and a half with my feet up watching "Scooby Doo" lol....its probably my favorite cartoon and set of movies.... even today, at 51 years old, I watch Scooby regularly, lol
In what ways can or will you continue to keep Healthy Routines (Mentally, emotionally & physically) as we enter the Holiday season? I feel as though I have a good exercise and workout discipline already. My girlfriend and I keep each other accountable for workouts as well as what we eat. We plan our meals together and keep each other in check. Thats not to say we eat good all the time. We still like to enjoy good food and life. We agree on "cheat meals" every now and then. As far as mentally and emotionally, coming to 7cups will be my go to.
🌻What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! My struggle was getting through the week while dealing with on and off headaches. They are triggered by weather and I usually go through a few weeks of fighting them on and off when the seasons change, or have stormy weather. Between t,hat and a very hectic, or should I say chaotic week at work, I am glad it is over. One highlight is that I was able to get in one weight session and 2 bike rides through it all....I actually napped due to the headaches on my other two scheduled workout days.....
🌾What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~,One thing I want to mention is how much I enjoy 7cups, the forums and the people who interact here. While I don't always get time to sit and type out my thoughts and feelings, or be productive in the forums, I always scroll through and read and upvote for support those posts I subscribe to and follow. I wish I had more time to sit and type at the laptop..especially in my own "journal post" on here. Getting one's thoughts and feelings out, without judgement is a big deal....finding time to do it is a whole other thing...and trying to do a proper post or response on my android device is annoying and causes more stress than its worth...lol
@CyclingThroughLife I think some Scooby Doo films could count as Halloween movies for you!
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling.....
I think we all have that lazy feeling every now and then. Sometimes I actually have it more than I'd personally like to admit! lol... But sometimes its ok to just "feel it and go with it". We need that for ourselves sometimes. I like the idea that you at least have a "to do" list. As when you do get the motivation to get things done, at least you know and have an idea of where to start. Until then, hopefully you got the relaxation that you needed (and enjoyed your "Scooby Doo")! I haven't see that one in a long time...... Thats what weekends are for sometimes.
Despite that things are a bit of blur for you with your Professional life, its great that your personal life is going well and currently on track for you. I'm sure the other part will eventually come together as well.
How awesome for you on re-doing your home gym. I love getting new equipment and putting it all together. It can surely be a motivating experience. And having someone to share that with, as well as sharing your goals, idea, and plans for it all is a wonderful thing. After my son moved out we did the same with his room as well and turned it into our gym..., Although we still have yet to "finish" laying down the mats. We keep buying them and they continue to stack up though lol... I think its great that you have your exercise and workout regimen down for yourself and that you have an accountability partner to help keep you on track with things. Having that extra help and support as well as someone who is like-minded is certainly beneficial in keeping you in alignment with your goals and plans. Kuddos to you both! Keep up the awesome work!
That is really great that you have a routine for yourself and do your best to stick with it. I'm a creature of habit myself and need that as well for the same reasons! So I can relate to what you are saying. My husband has also recently gotten into cycling as well and is enjoying his indoor spin bike. I admire you both. And great job to you on already having your "Winter plan" set!
@PoliteOcean I'm typing this on my Ova phone which is an ordeal. Here is how the past week went. Monday my new caretaker Charles "Chuck" took me to the library. Starting two weeks ago I started to read my Gerald Manley Hopkins poetry book. He's very good. We went to the marina but there was no place to park so I couldn't go for my walk. Tuesday and Friday Chuck also took me to the library and the marina, so I got two walks in for this week. I like Chuck better than Ashawn. On the other hand, I've had to reduce my expectations for my caretakers. If they could find real jobs they wouldn't be caretakers. Chuck has a bachelor's degree in mathematics but he's 77 years old so he's kind of a ding bat. He seems to have a good work ethic. Thursday I called the government office because I haven't received my annual renewal packet. They put me on hold for 45 minutes but I finally got through to someone. Friday we ran out of handsoap. For the past 4 years I've been the sole supplier of handsoap for the entire house hold because Leslie is too dim witted to stay on top of it. I bought some from the local grocery store on Friday. Friday I called the call center at my clinic to make an appointment to see my doctor and the representative couldn't understand what I wanted and hung up on me. I definitely want to move out from Leslie's but I need the security deposit.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo, its good that you were able to connect and post with your phone to share with everyone this week. Its nice that your new caretaker was able to get you out & about and to the library. And that you were able to go to the Marina and get your walks in a couple of times for the week. Its good that you have come to a realization for yourself that sometimes we do need to take a step back, and perhaps adjust our expectations of others. I think being a caretaker can be a rather rewarding experience for some. Especially for someone who is also in their 70's. As they are able to get out, connect with others, and have a sense of purpose..... It may not be the best job, however, it takes a special person to be able to actually do the job in the way its supposed to be done. I say that since I used to be a caretaker as well for a short time before I became a nurse. I think it can go both ways though as a caretaker never quite knows what they are walking into. Whether it be the person that they will be taking care of OR even the 'Family' that they might have to deal with as well. And even despite the best efforts, it still may not work out. Its not always an easy job, and depending on the person that one is caring for, its not the greatest paycheck. But its good that you say your caretaker seems to have a good work ethic, so perhaps this will work out for you both. I haven't seen many seniors that age taking on that responsibility. So good for him for being able to do so. I think its also good that you are still in the mindset of wanting to leave and move out from Leslies. I do think based on all the things you have stated and mentioned, that it might be in your best interest to do so. Hopefully things will work themselves out and continue to come together at some point for you to be able to do just that. I know I've mentioned talking to a social worker before, but perhaps they could also help you or recommend the help you need to aide you in being able to make that change for yourself sooner rather than later. But its just a thought. Thanks for checking in and sharing your week. Please continue to keep us up to date on how things are going.
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Hey everyone~ How are you doing and feeling today? At this moment, Iʻm feeling better than I have been.
🌻What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! I was and am still sick with a sinus infection. I didnʻt go to a doctor, but I had the same symptoms last winter and I went to the doctor twice that time. She said it was a sinus infection. Iʻve been taking all the same over the counter meds. My bossʻs boss gave me the end of the week off to help me recover. So, Iʻve been mostly laying in bed for 4 days. If I had work that would make me break out into a sweat I put it off if I could. Today I vacuumed and went grocery shopping. I bought lots of fruits and veggies because I have not been eating healthfully, and I need to get back to doing that.
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~ Thats great for you that you are feeling better than you have been. Definitely a positive thing for you.
I remember you mentioning your troublesome student in your last post. Thats great that your boss supports you on this matter. As that is the FIRST problem down! And will be very helpful in going forwards with that student. Retraining sounds like a good 2nd plan. Retraining and helping her to understand what is expected of her is a great plan. Hopefully for you this combination will come together in a positive way.
@nordurnStar
Hey there Star~
Sounds like you have quite a huge mix of emotions going on this week! And I can certainly see why! Hopefully things will come together for you in all that you are doing. And that you will find that your job situation will continue to be a stable situation going forwards. Its easy to be our "own worst critics", but I'm sure that you did your best. And we are sending Positive vibes your way for a positive outcome! Please keep us updated.
