🍁 This past week was pretty well... The weather here has been really beautiful, warm & mild here the past week. So last weekend each day started off with some Zumba of course.. On Saturday we went to a wonderful outdoor Holiday event that I really enjoyed.... And also got in a little Pre-Christmas shopping. I was able to buy some things for Gift Donations for our Local Animal Shelter!.. It was something that really made me feel good & brought me joy all week just thinking about it... I only wish I could be there to see & watch the animals receive them!.... On Sunday after my Zumba class I was able to get up & done the rest of my Holiday decorating!~
🌾 As the week started off, I got back on track with my typical schedule of (work, workouts, appointments, meal-planning/tracking, & lots of great outdoor time with the Pup)~... Sleep goals still need work. But Hydration was good & on point with the warmer weather we had!... On Monday evening we decided to finish up with decorating & put up our Christmas Tree.~ I love having all of that done & out of the way & completed "Before" Thanksgiving arrives. That way I can come home from dinner with my family & simply relax, & enjoy my lights. While taking in the Christmas season ahead~
🍂 This weekend ahead, No Saturday Zumba for me.. But intentions are to get in a Home-workout to start the day. Then head to a Holiday event in the early afternoon. On Sunday, early Zumba to start the day.... Then afterwards finish preparing for the Thanksgiving Holiday & get all the preparations & shopping completed. We are also anticipating enjoying a local Christmas Lights Show & Display here at our local Lake!~... Next week I will adjust my schedule & personal goals accordingly throughout the week since classes are minimal, & take some time for extra rest & self care as we head into the Holiday week, as well finish off November~
HAPPY WEEKEND~
@PoliteOcean Wow - you posted really early this week. I went on 3 walks this past week. Going back a week to last Saturday my new watch I bought for my birthday and oximeter arrived. I bought the oximeter to measure my pulse when I'm being abused. I learned there is something new called a perfusion index. Saturday I had to buy my own dinner. The delivery drivers for Door Dash don't follow my directions. It's very demoralizing. Monday I had a massage. I think the muscles that are bothering me is the Pectoralis minor. Somebody put a piece of furniture in front of the mail slot. I've been doing a lot of de-stressing of my hands. The amount of stress I've been carrying in my hands is insane ! Wednesday I shaved. I still have a lot of anxiety about Stuart abusing me even though he hasn't lived here for 7 months. That's what trauma does to people. Tuesday night John made me stare at a lightbulb for 30 minutes. It ruined my reading time for all day on Wednesday. Edna doesn't respect my personal space when I go to the kitchen to get my instant coffee. I really hate that. This past week I decided to stop reading "Pamela". I'm currently reading "The Masterpiece" by Emile Zola and I started to read "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". I think my French Literature month to December also. Justyce decided she is going to put off going to phlebotomy school because of the cost.
@Regmo
@Regmo
Hey Regmo~ Yeah the post might possibly seem a bit early to you. If I recall correctly we are on opposite coasts?... So several hours between us.~ ;) Awesome job on getting in 3 walks this week. 💪🏼.. That’s good for you that your gift items arrived. But too bad that you had to fend for yourself on dinner.. I don’t trust Door Dash or food deliveries anymore. Although I haven’t used them in forever, it Doesn’t surprise me they didn’t follow your directions. It’s good that you were able to keep up with your massage appt. That’s crazy that your stress is in your hands. I know we discussed last week how strange it can be “where” we can exactly hold on to stressors in our bodies. But yes, Trauma can take many forms within us sadly, even after the exact traumatic situation itself is long gone… That’s good that you are continuing to keep up with your interests & hobbies… I’ve never read the Hunchback of Notre Dame, however I did watch a Black n White movie of it once years ago… I Can’t really remember much about that one though. Guess it didn’t have much of an impact on me. It looks like Justyce putting off her studies for now is a positive in your week. So it’s good for you that she can continue on with you at this time. Thanks for sharing your week with us. And continue to keep us updated on how things are moving along.~
@PoliteOcean
My week wasn't bad, relaxing. Caught up with myself! I'm usually doing a million things all at once so the quieter pace was appreciated. I don't have Thanksgiving here but if I were invited to a meal, Irish stew is the go to dish 🥰
@Amanda84
Relaxing whenever we can & “catching up with ourselves” is always a good idea. And good for the soul. 😌
I can personally relate to always running around doing 50-million things in a day, so quieter times when able, can most definitely be appreciated! (In fact I’ll be doing much of that myself in the week ahead) 😉…. Well done to you on the self-care. 👍🏼
I’ve heard a few mention “Irish stew” from time to time. I’ve never had it. Must be a popular dish?! But I’m always up for a good “Stew”!
Thanks for checking in to share your week and please continue to keep us updated!
@PoliteOcean
It is very popular here, all we eat for the majority of winter 😂💜
🍁Hey all~ Welcome to the Weekend~... How has your week been? My week was good. I had a few days where I felt "off" the whole day....can't place my finger on what caused it or why, or even define the "off" but I made it through.....
🌾This is our "4th" Check-in for November~.... Many of us are a few short days away from the Thanksgiving Holiday~... HOW Many of you Celebrate & What are your plans for this day?!....My Thanksgivings have become quiet with our adult children doing their own thing with their friends and family and my youngest son (high school senior) spending the time with his girlfriend. They are all spread out so its too much to try to visit here and there....and the logistics of having everyone in one place is a nightmare.....its time they create their own memories and traditions......My girlfriend usually cooks a small Thanksgiving meal for me and her while I spend the time at work putting out a traditional Thanksgiving meal for the people in our facility. I have been working on Thanksgiving day for as long as I can remember.....Then we eat when I get home.....this year I took the week off....we are going to our second home(leaving today) and we have reservations at a local restaurant for our Thanksgiving meal....making new memories and traditions.... Do you Implement goals or intentions for yourself to keep it a "Mindful & Healthier" Holiday? Only moderation....I eat all the good things just in moderation.....
🍂 November 22nd is "GO FOR A RIDE DAY"~... It encourages you to get out into the world, (Whether Hopping on your bike, getting out in your car, Putting on your walking shoes, or Taking a trip)!... Not worrying too much about Where you are going, but just enjoying the journey!... There is No wrong or right way to celebrate it... But just get out, relax, enjoy, take in scenery, or whatever joy you happen to find!... WHAT is your Favorite method of Transport, (Car, boat, plane, Bike..etc..)?! ....I love to ride my bike....but I also love taking trips in the car with my girlfriend...day trips and weekend trips....spontaneous ones are the best...... And will you make some time this weekend to get out for a Ride?!... If so, can you share, describe, or tell us about a favorite place of yours that you are Grateful for & enjoy a ride to?! Its like this question "knew" my plans.....we are leaving this morning for a drive south to our condo.....its about a 13 or 14 hour drive....we split it into two days and stop half way when we go....she plans the trip route around things we want to do along the way and places we want to eat. Make it more than just "a drive". We are big food network fans and have a list of celebrity chef restaurants we want to eat at and we try to hit one or two Diner, Drive-in and Dives restaurants or a celebrity chef restaurant along the way....We also have become a fan of "troll hunting" and finding Thomas Bambo's artwork trolls. Last month we went to Rhode Island and found all 5 there....there is one along the route we are taking today so we will stop there and find that one....its a really cool way to get in the car and ride for a day trip, if close enough, or weekender.....so here in about 2 hours we will pack up, throw on Lindsay Buckinghams "Holiday Road" and shove off......
🦃 JUST FOR FUN: Continuing in the Spirit of Holiday Fun, You're Invited to THANKSGIVING DINNER!... WHAT Dish are you bringing to share with us?!... (I'll bring Sweet Potatoes & Corn) Green bean casserole.....just kidding.....It would be a Mac n Cheese dish of some sort....
🍂 What is something else that "YOU" want to Talk about, Add, Or Share with us this week?!... WE want to hear from YOU~ Thanks for keeping this up each week and keeping my mind active....Have a great Thanksgiving if you celebrate and just a great day if you don't.......
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there 🚴 ~
Thats good for you that despite feeling “off” a few days, that overall your week went well for you. Sometimes those “off” days just happen even when we can’t explain it or have no reason why. It’s great that you were able to push through them.
Yeah when time moves on, families change & grow into their own, traditions can definitely become different. Sounds like you will now start to make some newer & greater memories yourself at your 2nd home. And a week to do it is Not too shabby of a plan. Perhaps one year everyone can meet at the Condo for the holiday? Either way, Enjoy it!
Yes I totally agree.. I love those day trips & spontaneous trips as well! They are a great time & great “pick me up” for the soul when we are able to get them in! And it sounds like you have a wonderful plan mapped out for yourselves to Enjoy today’s theme of “Go for a Ride Day”! That sounds like quite a trip. One I’m sure you will definitely make some new & lasting memories with!
Yum (I actually LOVE green bean casserole!) but only my moms! lol .. all others have definitely failed me in comparison…. But I’m totally in on the Mac & Cheese! Great choice. 👍🏼
Thanks so much for sharing with us Cycling~ it’s always great to hear from you! You always have such enlightening responses for us! And it’s great to see you participate! Enjoy your Thanksgiving week, your time off, & your road trip! And as always please keep us updated on how you’re doing.
*HOLIDAY ROOOAAADDDDDD~ 🎶🎵🎤 (*Sees visions of Chevy Chase) lol
Been doing 75 HARD. I’ve just started week 8 and today is day 51. I’m tracking from the start date, but I haven’t performed the 5 tasks to perfection every single day. And in the past 2 weeks it’s become more difficult since beginning and accelerated class. Also with holidays there’s more social pressure. Catching up with visiting family. Deciding what I can and cannot eat. Friends visiting or local friends feeling more lonely. An upcoming certification exam in less than 4 weeks. There’s more pressure building to do other things. And I already was struggling to stay on task. I was getting good results but the past 2 weeks I’ve mostly been going through the motions as well as making more compromises and modifying even though I don’t quite need to modify (at least not at this moment). Feeling a bit of guilt because I’ve got some needy people in my life. I care about them but they seem to want more attention than I have energy to give. I’m mostly trying to focus on fitness and getting this job certification by December 19th. My class is 9am-4pm weekdays. Including tons of readings and assignments. I want better fitness results but it’s hard with the upcoming holiday pressure spreading me even more thin.
@versatileGrapefruit5218
Congrats to you on doing & pushing through 75 Hard.. I’ve seen others do this program as well. Seems like you are doing well & quite a ways in yourself. 💪🏼… You don’t have to be “perfect”. (Remember the phrase Progress Not Perfection). 👍🏼…
Despite having was seems to be a busy time in your life at the moment with various things, all you can do is to keep Trying. And that’s enough!.. Focusing on yourself through selfcare practices is important during busy times... So don’t forget to make yourself a priority in the hustle & hustle of everyday things around you. The workouts, the people, and all of those other things will continue to be there when you are fully able and ready to jump back into things. Learning to prioritize can also be a big help during busy times.
You’ve got this! 👊🏼… And We are here to support you in your efforts.
Thanks for checking in to share your week. And continue to keep us updated on how things are moving along for you!
@PoliteOcean I likely wont be able to answer all the questions due to not being able to remember them all but this week it was ok til Thursday. My daughters christmas present from last year had broke and for months she was waiting for me to repair it as I had promised. I finally got things in action on Wednesday and put the chain in to be repaired. It was to take 2 weeks for repair but was ready in less than 24 hours. Now she is fully aware that for years I have had issues with hearing and audiologists have said my heaing in time would worsen to where I would lose all hearing. Well for past 6-9 years it has been getting worse. My granddaughter had originally found a remedy where she would come up really close to my ear for me to catch certain words as I can hear part of whats said but certain words I just cant pick up and lately even her remedy is starting not to work. Well Thursday upon learning chain was ready to be picked up I asked my daughter if she was picking up my granddaughter from school and then drive me to the repair shop I can absolutely swear I heard her say yes. Her roommate came in and asked if she was picking up my granddaughter again I swear I heard yes. Eventually when I saw she wasnt moving I went and asked the roomate to drive me. I figured if my daughter wouldnt take me I would just surprise her. upon picking it up and back in the roommates car my daughter called the roomate who had my daughter on speaker. I got a bit annoyed with her not taking me and said it to my daughter. AT that point she went off on me. I got to ose to give it to her and was just told she no longer wants the chain and to leave her the ____ alone which has now led me to decide not to Chat to her ‘cause I told her even if she is my daughter I refuse for her to think she can treat me any way she feels like and having paid a lot for the chain I see it as being disrespectful and hurtful-she knows I dont have mone like that to put out and it took everything out of me to buy that chain and pendant for her ‘cause she means so much to me. She has come to me several times chattin’ bout other stuff and only once asked About the chain and I just havent had desire to communicate with her ‘cause of the hurt she caused me. So thanksgiving wise I have decided not to be part of the festivities. However for years I have always heard About being grateful specifically during holiday time which I dont agree with. Why? I tend to feel why is it important for holidays to be grateful why not be grateful every day so years ago I developed what I call the everyday be grateful day. At first it started where everynight once my children and I had gotten in bed each of us had to say 3 things we were grateful for then it started where every day somethin’ had to be done to express love to one another. One day it would be a gift another day I love you day another day just ‘cause day which was doing somethin’ special with each other etc. Some things got repeated but the goal would be to have somethin’ different planned every day.So despite things being as they are in the here and now. Being grateful is somethin’ I take with me every single day. Despite having more bad in my life God has blessed me in so many ways that those blessings outweigh all the years of pain and misery. I am in full gratitude of both the good and the bad.. If the bad didnt happen I might not of learned how to do things differently in a positive way. I am grateful for my children, for life, for God, for the growth I have made. Theres just so much to be grateful for and I can not allow a bad situation to make me forget all the good I have had in my life.
@eternalHero77
Hey there~ It definitely sounds like you had quite the week. And we’re sorry to hear about your hearing situation that may have lead to some miscommunications with your loved one. … And it also doesn’t give anyone the right to treat you anyway that they feel like. Especially from a loved one that you were trying to do something nice for. So we hope that things start to improve there with that for you. And that everyone is able to put differences behind them and move forward in a healthy & positive way.
I agree that being Grateful “everyday” is a wonderful idea that everyone should try to practice, And not just only on special occasions. And it’s quite lovely that you put God at the center of all the things you have to be & feel grateful for. Even in spite of less than positive situations or circumstances going on in your life. And It’s definitely a wonderful and healthy attitude to keep in the midst of uncertain times. Keep up the great work & positive mindset. 👍🏼
We hope that despite your week, that things can be resolved for you and that you are able to enjoy your Thanksgiving with family like you intended. Just know that We are here to support you at 7cups.
Thank you for checking in to share your week. And please keep us updated on how you are doing & how things are continuing to go for you.
@PoliteOcean Thanks---well I got my "feet wet" so to chat. Most times when a situation occurs I tend to shut down and crash that way for sometime but I slowly spilled out the pieces to my daughter explaining where I was at the time the situation was taken place. I explained how I heard certain things and admitted it was likely due to my hearing I misunderstood wile making her aware that she knew as long as I did that this situation would soon occur. She was a teen when I was told of losing the hearing at which point she laughed and didnt take it seriously. She is now in her early 40's and has witnessed many times episodes where I didnt hear correctly. You could say the word cat and ‘cause I cant hear the c sound I might hear the word bat. She and likely many have no idea it might be confusing to them when a person is like this but think on how frustrating it is for the person living through it. Thankfully I love to write so when possible I will write rather than Chat providing its not somethin’ that need be done face to face. Phone I am absolutely no good. Originally due to shyness I was afraid of the phone but now due to hearing its like whats the sense calling someone and you cant understand whats being said. Only that I need go to church to be with God I likely wouldnt even go there ‘cause of the hearing and they use the microphone and still I got issues. In any event both verbally and texting we spoke it over and she is letting the situation go but for me I think it be best I not be a part of the celebration for the holidays not only to avoid anything going down but I am trying to work on a different food plan for myself. Where there will be meat and my daughter is making stuff that will include milk which is the 2 very items I am working on eliminating from my diet for health reasons I think I will separate myself from everything. While she and others are downstairs having their festivity fun I will be upstairs and once they get done then I will go down and put a little somethin’ possibly a salad for myself. We will still all be in the home together just not celebrating together.
@eternalHero77 The important thing is I have my family near and some far but knowing I have that where so many have absolutely no one at all. Sure it can get lonely at times but knowing theres someone whether it be near or far that cares and loves me that is a huge gift within itself.
@PoliteOcean
