@SpacetimeScribe I just finished the audiobook of The Woman With The Cure by Lynn Cullen. It's about a woman who worked on curing Polio in the 1940s. I love a bit of science history but the love story made it really charming as well.
MaddAddamm trilogy by Margaret Atwood. They are by far my favorite books. If you like dystopia, she's the bomb.

Hi, I have also been trying to read more and am almost done with Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. If you can handle gritty western violence and profound prose, than it's one of the best books I have ever read. Also just finished Pet Semetary and that was a wonderful and haunting read.

Non-English native here, tried Blood Meridian once in English and was very hard to follow, I have to say. Other McCarthy books I loved, really like No Country for Old Men (I've never seen the movie!)
Anything King is great, Pet Sematary is one of his best.
It is true that book is written in a way that is difficult to follow along with. English is my first language and I certainly found myself rereading paragraphs or even whole chapters sometimes. I actually need to read his other books, especially No Country for Old Men. The movie is amazing and I’m sure the book is better.

2) Bookshops & Bonedust, Legends & Lattes, Brigands & Breadknives by Travis Baldree (cozy fantasy)
3) Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne (sci-fi, adventure)
4) The Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy (it might be a bit "young", but the books become more mature as the character ages, kind of like the Harry Potter books did - they're pretty good. Dark fantasy)

@pluckyPerson6290 oh also Freefall by Tom Read, he was a paratrooper but went down a dark mental spiral thingy it's really good though
