Book rec needed

What age range are we talking? 

A few recent reads that I liked are 

• The shadow friend by alex north. It's Mostly a mystery with lit fiction vibes happening in a small town.
• The poppy war by r.f. kuang. Is a high fantasy including shamanism inspired by a very horrifying moment in history so i would definitely look up trigger warnings before picking it up.
• Yumi and the nightmare painter by Brandon Sanderson is a really nice scifi fantasy. The world building and story telling is really cool and unique.
• June Hur is a great author. Her works are set in historic Korea i think the Joseon era. The silence of bones and the red palacs are great and both have elements of a murder-mystery.

Warriors by Erin hunter.

It’s a book about these 4 cat clans that live in the forest. They follow the warrior code and they have warrior ancestors called StarClan. It has fights, drama, plot, and holy amount of cliffhangers that will want you to read more. I recently stopped mid 2nd series because… but I promise you it’s a good reed!

Someday this pain will be useful to you by James Cameron is fantastic, both from a message standpoint and from how Cameron uses words and construction. For me, an underrated writer.

Klara and the Sun I think is a marvelous approach to Ishiguro, very touching and very novel, especially with Klara's narrative view. He's a Nobel Prize for a reason.

Reading Perdido Street Station right now from China Mieville, has been very entertaining and different from traditional sci-fi trends.

For fun rides with no burden, I'll recommend anything Mistborn by Sanderson. I find they are amazing comic books wrapped as novels, with great pace and worldbuilding.

First three from Stieg Larsson (the first is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) are pretty great detective stories, a little fresher as they are in Sweden. Liked them a lot, as usually I'm not into those kind of novels.

And Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick, very interesting book to get some more perspective on North Korea.

These are the first that come to my mind.

@SpacetimeScribe If you dont mind reading a book thats a bit longer then most others and love sci fi, dune is AMAZING!! I would highly recommend reading it and then watching/rewatching the movie, it makes it so much better!! 🤗🤩
