National Dog Day Event: Day 2 - Pictures 📷
Hello everyone! Welcome back to Day 2 of the National Dog Day Event, a collaboration between the Student & Career Support subcommunity, Teen Only Zone, and Hobby Zone! As an emphasis, the purpose of the National Dog Day Event is to celebrate dogs of all breeds and to take a chance to show our appreciation for them!
Recounting yesterday's event, we shared our most exciting, unforgettable memory of our dogs or dogs that we met! If you have not checked it out yet and would like to share a memory of any dogs, check it out here!
Today's event will be focusing on sharing adorable pictures of our dogs or dogs we found on the Internet! The purpose of this event is for all of us to show our appreciation for our dogs and their support, and admire each other's heart-warming dogs through photos! In order to participate in this event, we would like for everyone to participate in the following activities!

1. What was a time your dog supported you? If you haven't had a chance to get to know a dog, what is one way that you can think of that a dog might be able to support you?
2. What was something you did to show your appreciation for them? If you haven't had a chance yet, what is something you would like to do to show your appreciation for their support?
Activity and Picture Time!
We would love to have everyone post a photo of their dog, a friend's dog, or a dog you found on the Internet that you love, appreciate, or want! If you already know how to post a picture, awesome! Here are the steps for those who are having trouble uploading pictures through imgur.com:
1. Please open up a new browser page, and type in imgur.com or click here.
2. On the top left corner, next to the words imgur, there is a green button that says 'New Post,' and please click it.
3. There are 3 ways you can upload the photo onto imgur.com: dropping/dragging the image there, choosing photo, or pasting the image url.
4. Once you have uploaded the photo, please click copy link.
5. Next, please come back to this thread, press Post to Thread, and press the image icon (the second icon from the right). From there, paste the url of the picture and readjust the size as needed!

**Side note: As much as some people love dogs, there are many of us that are afraid or dislike dogs, which is perfectly natural! For this event, we would like you to share another animal of your choice!
He is my dog, Molly. 3 were monthly when I took it in. We love him very much, counts as a family member at us. My son says it, that like that, as if Molly would be his sibling. Molly on September 29 will be 6 year ones.

Aww, Molly is super cute! Is he a golden retriever? and I am super glad, and I am sure he is too, that you treat him not just as a pet, but also as a family member! It's truly amazing how dogs go so easily become our family, as someone we love with our whole heart! It's super great that your whole family, including your son, treats him as part of your family. and happy 1 month + 2 days early birthday to Molly!! Yayy, he's almost 6 years old :)

We found out that yesterday was national dog day unexpectedly. We were trying to find a location and stopped at a coffee shop. The barista informed me and doted on my recently adopted senior dog. Only had him in my life for a month- and he is my "pandemic puppy" . 16lbs of pure devotion.

Aww, I'll tell you too that I was not aware of the national dog day until more recently as well, but I'm definitely keeping in my calendar for next year to celebrate! and, that sounds like a wonderful barista that loves dogs :) I am so happy that you were able to adopt your dog just a month ago, and I'm sure you and him will share some wonderful memories, if you haven't had any yet! I have to say that I really like the phrase "pandemic puppy" and yes, I also agree that dogs are super devoted as well!

Thank you. She is very old, 14. We call her the "nana" dog because she babysits all the kids and is so kind and sweet. We have been very lucky to have her for so long.
Sadly I will not be participating, I know I have Sulley and Boo but it doesnt feel right as I lost my beagle to heart failure early this year.

I am sorry for you loss. I can't even begin to think how hard it will be when the day comes we lose our beloved dog. I just know I will enjoy the time we have left!!!!

A loss of a dog is definitely heart-breaking, and posting a picture or participating in a dog-related event is simply, most people wouldn't be up to it. There's nothing that can compare to losing a dog, even if we still have other dogs around. I do wish you all the best and *big tight hugs*

Link my Affenpinscher helped me get through my agoraphobia and many other things over the 15 years he was alive and with me and my hubby and I am forever thankful and miss him so much it still breaks my heart he is gone ..

I was always loving on him and taking photos of him and filming him , buying him toys and treats . talking to him ... he was such a character

I have so many of him and will try and figure out how to do this but when I do add him to my profile pic i get so many asking about him and then having to say he passed away in Jan of 2018 people feel really bad and sad and then i feel sad all over again ... but i will try and see if i can get this to work if not so sorry because i have before and no luck ...

I am very glad that your dog was able to support you while he was here, and the time spent together must have been amazing! Taking photos and videos, buying toys and treats, and just being with him are super great ways to show our appreciation and thank them for their awesome support as well. aw, it's great that you have several photos you would like to share!
hmm, there are definitely a lot of times where people might ask about it, and it does bring back sad memories as well, so it is completely great if you would not like to upload a picture of your dog as your profile picture! There is nothing to be sorry about; it is just the way it is. While we would love everyone to post photos, it's completely alright if we aren't up to it as well as posting photos can bring back both good and sad memories of our dogs. Whichever you choose to do, it will always be the best decision for you :)

so I was having trouble uploading a picture, but I'll tell you about my sweet boy Lucky. He is a light-colored Havanese who is four years old, and he's also my best friend. 😃 He is quite affectionate and playful although sometimes a bit high-maintenance, but I don't mind as I love caring for him. He's been a source of comfort in hard times that never wavered -- whenever I was anxious or upset, he would always be there to sit by me and provide his love and loyalty without being critical or judgemental. He makes me laugh more than once a day and it always brightens my day when he is happy to see me come home or when he comes to spend time with me. I could never repay him for all the happiness he has brought my family, but I try to by being his walking partner (we both love the fresh air and quiet mornings) and hanging out with him when I read or work. Anyhow -- I know this is a long rant, but I just love my dog and I hope it makes someone smile! :D

aww, a Havanese? I agree that our dogs are can be like the best of all our friends with all their constant support. Ahh, some dog breeds do have like super high-maintenance (brushing their hair, caring for them, etc), and I'm super glad that you love taking care of him! I have to say that dogs are very special because of their ability to listen and always be there for us whenever we are having trouble, and of course, though they can't speak back, their whole attitude can definitely be super uplifting and supportive. Oh my goodness, and I love that he's able to make you laugh everyday, and did I mention how I also love it when we come home after a long day (or even just like a few minutes outside), our dogs would like welcome us, which honestly feels the best. I'm smiling at the picture of you and your dog just hanging out outside; I'm really glad both of you enjoy being outside together! I can totally feel the love-vibe, and on my side, it is definitely making me smile a big, huge smile :D

I'm glad this brightened your day a little bit! He definitely requires a lot of care -- sometimes when he gets in a certain mood, he will bark nonstop unless I am petting him without doing anything else (he likes to have my undivided attention, haha!) It's also a lot of work to keep him from getting into things -- I lost count of how many times he actually has literally eaten my homework. I could never be angry with him though, every time he does something he isn't supposed to he acts so guilty afterwards that I have to smile!

I haven't had a dog but I have had experiences with dogs that I have loved and I have grown to have a greater appreciation for dogs. Even though I do not have a dog myself, I do now have a better understanding and appreciation for them and National Dog Day truly does mean a lot to me! The most meaningful experience I had with a dog who supported me was when my school had a day that introduced support/guide dogs and pets to students for a week as coping mechanisms for upcoming tests or exams. It was more of an awareness event than anything, but the program allowed for students to interact with a support dog and experience support firsthand if they were experiencing issues or just wanted the opportunity to meet the dogs. They were held in a special room in the school for a day and I remember thinking that the program was overrated before deciding to check it out with a friend. During my lunch hour I met the sweetest retriever named Rover and he was such an AMAZING dog. Talking about him and reflecting on this experience reminds me of how great my experience with him was. I like to believe that he sensed my pre-test anxieties which is why he stayed beside me for the rest of the period before I had to go to my next class.
If I could get a chance to show my appreciation for Rover or other dogs, I would definitely dedicate a day for my spending time with them and give them some treats and much-deserved love and attention. I feel like dogs tend to go unappreciated at times even though their lives can sometimes revolve around their owners' if they are pets or domesticated. It's an unfortunate reality but taking a moment to genuinely appreciate them can mean a lot. <3 I have so much love for these amazing animals!

I am so glad that you had an awesome experience with dogs, even though you do not have a dog yourself! Ooh, I love it when our schools have support/guide dogs; we get to meet so many dogs (I will be honest and say that I feel kind of bad for the dogs because they might be overwhelmed with the number of people crowding around them, although they may be trained to do so). I agree that having support/guide dogs is a great coping method for stress and school work in general. aww, I am so glad that you ended up going to check it out, and that you met an amazing retriever that actually helped with your anxiety as well!
Awww, those ideas of giving them treats and giving them attention sounds absolutely amazing, and I can totally agree that appreciating them by giving them our attention is really important, especially when their lives often are about supporting their owners! I am sure that Rover would be super glad for your attention and love should you ever meet Rover again!
This is such a fun and neat idea.
How has my dog supported me? She is a welcome relief from the stressors of work, traffic, and all other chaos that exist outside my home. Coming home to something that couldn't be happier to see me is always a great feeling. I instantly feel the stress of the world melt away as I reach down to greet her, thats how she's supported me and how she continues to do so.
2. Something I did to show my appreciation for her was earlier this year, I adopted her at the beginging of the year from a rescue and this would be our first 4th of July together. I didn't know how she would react, but thanks to my the surrounding neighborhood, 6 weeks leading up to the day they started setting off fireworks. at. all. hours. of. the. day. I could see the fear and tears in this little girls eyes. She'd shake in place and not know what to do. So I just started this habit of making eye contact with her everytime the fireworks would go off, I'd smile, laugh, and just be kinda goofy and tell her "its ok." If it was a really loud one, I'd pick her up and keep her close by. This became our routine. Everyday. Everytime. No matter what I was doing, I noticed it was working and she wasn't as scared. So much so by the time the 4th of July came around, she was kinda used to it enough that we actually sat outside and watched for a bit.

Aww, I am so glad that she is able to support you by relieving stress and welcoming you as if she would love nothing more than to show how happy she is to see you. I can agree that whenever our dogs are around, it sometimes feel like the world just fades away and in our eyes, we only see their wagging tails and happy faces.
It's really awesome that you adopted her from a rescue, and I can already see your wonderful relationship with her! I also do see that fireworks can be very scary for dogs, especially when they are relatively new to their surroundings as well with the loud firework noises. Till this day, I still jump when I hear the sound of fireworks, and naturally, a little dog would be even more afraid. I am legit smiling so much, reading about how you were able to support her and be with her through this process. I am sure she is super glad that you are with her throughout the whole time the fireworks are off, and smiles and laughter are definitely great ways to keep her mind off of the fireworks. I really love the eye-contact idea, and sometimes our eyes can tell more than we can show; it is like we are communicating telepathically and understanding each other. I am really, very glad that she is no longer as scared as before, and that she is a bit more used to it now :)

Ive had my best friend Sweetpea for 14 years. She's a Lab and Collie mix. She's such a sweet girl and so empathic. It's truly amazing that she's lived this long and she's expected to keep going strong for another few years. Dogs are our greatest supoorters in life and are truly a mans best friend.

Aww, first of all, that gif is so adorable; huskies are super cute, and that smile though 🤩 ! Dogs are definitely one of the best companions and friends that we can have with their ongoing support no matter what happens. And, the idea of building a home and providing them care sounds absolutely amazing! If you ever complete those goals, I am sure that those stray dogs would be super happy and glad :)
