Perseverance means not giving up when something feels difficult. It is the strength to keep going even when things are not easy or when progress feels slow. We all face times where we feel like quitting, but choosing to continue anyway is what helps us grow stronger.

I have a goal I am working on right now, and there are days when I want to give up. Some days I feel tired or unmotivated. Other times I doubt myself and wonder if I am even making progress. But I try to keep going by reminding myself why this goal is important to me. I think about the reasons I started and the kind of person I want to become. That helps me find the motivation to try again.

One thing that really helps is taking small steps. I do not always have to do everything at once. Even if I do one small thing toward my goal, I remind myself that I am still moving forward. Being patient with myself and focusing on progress instead of perfection helps me stay on track. I also try to stay hopeful. I remind myself that change takes time and that it is okay to have hard days.

Perseverance is a skill that can be built over time. The more we practice it, the more natural it becomes. When we keep going, even when things are tough, we build confidence and strength.

Questions for you:

What is one goal you are working on that takes effort?

What helps you keep going when you feel like stopping?

I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Maybe we can all learn something from each other.

@nicolka2004

I fell off a workout routine i had a long streak of 465 days straight of 6 miles of walking a day.

I thought it was impossible when I started but it ended when my tracker broke. I meant to start over but always had a reason not to after some time i tried to restart and now i am out of practice it is tiring at first so i would try to go all in ... be wiped out and not follow thru the next day.... now i just lowered my start point count the smaller wins and do it knowing each day i am getting closer to where i was and i did it before i can do it again it has only been 2 years since it ended.

thanks for post this was motivating me as i wrote it out.

What is one goal you are working on that takes effort?

Intentionally practicing and developing my empathetic listening. (Reflecting, open-ended questions, validating, affirming, etc.)

What helps you keep going when you feel like stopping?

I think about all the progress I have made and how much it has helped me in my personal and professional backgrounds in life. It is so rewarding to flow through a conversation while having yourself and the other person feel heard, supported, and validated. It feels good.

@nicolka2004

Thanks for your encouraging post! 🌻 One goal I'm working on at the moment is reconditioning and healing from a chronic illness. Some of it is outside of my control, but I am taking baby steps in the areas I can control to try and increase the amount I can do. When I feel like giving up, I remind myself of all the times I thought things couldn't get better but they did, and I also remind myself of the life I want to build for myself. Having this experience of seeing very clearly how much baby steps can help over time also encourages me when I don't see any progress. So I resonate with a lot in your post! I also have my faith which gives me hope during the difficult times 🌞
