Flipping the Script on Negative Thoughts" (Skill: Positive Thinking / Reframing)
We've all experienced moments of doubt or had negative thoughts that weigh us down.

Recently, I caught myself thinking, "I'm not good at what I do and never will be." Instead of sitting in that feeling, I practiced flipping the thought using positive affirmations like:
-
I am learning and growing every day.
-
I have the strength to keep moving forward.
-
I bring unique value to what I do.
Practicing this helped me feel more in control of my mindset and gave me a sense of hope. I realized how much power we have in shaping how we talk to ourselves.
Discussion Questions:
-
What’s a negative thought you’ve had recently, and how could you flip it using “I” statements?
-
Do you find it easy or difficult to challenge your inner critic? What helps you shift your mindset?
I can't do this. I can do it. Nothing is impossible!.
I find it quite difficult to challenge my inner critic. I find journaling my thoughts very helpful as it helps me be aware of my thoughts and gives me freedom to change them into more positive ones.
1. I will never make it on my own in another country ➡️ I will live out my dream by experiencing life abroad and I will thrive.
2. It is not that difficult to challenge for once, but the negative thoughts always became back.

I am strong-willed; I am unstoppable when it comes to learning, and I am unstoppable when it comes to my goals.
Do you find it easy or difficult to challenge your inner critic? What helps you shift your mindset? I find it in between. I write in my journal also; additional writing to get my writing better is just jotting down things. Making sentences and trying to place punctuation in the right places. And not to use run-on sentences.

I tend to find that telling myself I can do this and splitting into smaller goals helps me flip my script
I'm still my own worst critic, but i spend time now focusing on the positive things I've done in a week to quiet the inner critic but also being self aware if I've make mistakes and telling myself it's okay being humam.
@EllaListens recently i was assigned to present my research topic in front of a class. Though i was well prepared, thoughts of not being good enough, not being upto the mark and disappointing the faculties crept in. Due to these negative thoughts i started experiencing anxiety. At that moment i realised that words of affirmation truly works as i tried it without thinking it would work. But i started prioritising the positive thoughts and started saying statements like I am good at this, I am here for a purpose etc. This really helped me!
@EllaListens 2. i find it very easy to challenge my inner critic and sometimes i feel like i am too hard on myself due to that

I love how you didn't try to erase the negative thought, but instead met it with compassion and intention. That shift from "I'm not good at what I do" to "I am learning and growing every day" is such a powerful example of self-leadership.
One negative thought I’ve caught myself thinking recently is, “I should have it all figured out by now.” It tends to creep in during moments of uncertainty or comparison. When I notice it, I try to reframe it with something like:
“I am exactly where I need to be on my journey.”
or
“I give myself permission to grow at my own pace.”
@EllaListens I used to think it was difficult to shift my negative thinking patterns until I realize that I am in control of the way that I feel and when I change the way that I viewed things the way that I felt changed there’s no reason to live life constantly in a negative state when I could create balanced thoughts to counter all the negativity
