The Power of Kindness
Kindness is one of those qualities we often think of as “nice to have” but not necessarily essential for growth. However, I believe kindness is a core strength that builds connection, inner peace, and resilience. For most of my life, I thought being kind meant always saying yes or pleasing people to avoid conflict. But I have learned that true kindness includes being honest and setting gentle boundaries too.
There was a time when I felt burnt out from constantly helping others while ignoring my own needs. It took me a while to realise that kindness towards myself is just as important as kindness towards others. Now, I try to ask myself daily, “What is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now?” Sometimes the answer is to rest, sometimes it is to push myself to finish a task so I can feel more peaceful later. I have also found that being kind to others without expecting anything in return brings me genuine joy and makes my relationships stronger.
What does kindness mean to you in your daily life?

🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷I really appreciate you sharing your perspective on kindness and how it's evolved for you. It's so insightful to hear how you've redefined it from people-pleasing to something that includes honesty, boundaries, and self-compassion.
Your daily question, "What is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now?"
For me🌷 in my daily life, kindness manifests in a few ways, much like you described. It's about conscious awareness in interactions. This means really listening when someone is speaking, not just waiting for my turn to talk. It's about being present and acknowledging their feelings, even if I don't fully agree with their perspective.
It also extends to small acts of consideration. This could be anything from giving someone the benefit of the doubt instead of jumping to conclusions, to offering a genuine compliment. It's about recognizing that everyone is navigating their own challenges, and a little bit of grace can go a long way😊
And yes, as you wonderfully put it, kindness to myself is crucial. This often means recognizing my limitations and not pushing myself to an unhealthy degree. It's about giving myself permission to rest when I need it, or to step away from something that's causing me undue stress. Just like you've experienced, it's a balance of pushing forward and knowing when to pull back for my own well-being😌
Ultimately, for me, kindness in daily life is about striving act with empathy and respect, both towards others and towards myself, in every interaction and decision, big or small💕😊

What does kindness mean to you in your daily life?
Kindness, to me, in daily life means showing up with presence, patience, and care, even in small moments. It’s pausing to truly listen when someone speaks, offering a gentle word when someone is struggling, or choosing to be understanding instead of reactive when things don’t go as planned.
It’s also about how I treat myself softening my inner voice when I make a mistake, allowing space to feel what I feel without judgment, and recognizing that growth takes time. Kindness isn’t just grand gestures; it’s often quiet, consistent, and rooted in the belief that every person (including myself) is doing the best they can with what they have.
@Mariam973 since I am a coach of young ladies I have to encourage kindness on a daily basis. Sometimes it’s easy for them to get caught up in their teenage feeling and are kind of mean to each other but when I empathize kindness that we want people to exhibit to us is the same kind we have to give others.

I agree with you about being burned out at helping others and showing kindness, but not to ourselves. I am learning to say no, delegating when need be, and showing more kindness to myself since my mom passed away last month.
@Mariam973. I love how you highlighted that kindness isn’t just about pleasing others—it’s also about being gentle and honest with yourself. To me, kindness means noticing when I need care or rest and giving that to myself, just like I try to do for others. It’s small daily choices, like speaking to myself without harsh judgment, helping someone without expecting anything back, or even just listening fully when someone needs to be heard. It’s really about creating more peace and connection, both inside and outside.
@Mariam973
kindness is more about how we treat others when no ones watching, or how we talk to ourselves when we mess something up. in daily life, it can mean checking up on a friend, understanding when someone needs space or taking breaks.

Thank you so much for this post!
@Mariam973
I agree with you, Without kindness in my everyday life, I'm not sure how I would be able to make it, I actually love to see people smiling, even if it is just by me giving someone a complement.
@Mariam973
Yes, kindness is key. Being kind can help others brighten their day.
