The amount I've learned from this course has truly been immeasurable, and I wish I were able to boil down the takeaways! I think my favourite thing was participating in the IDG Forum and reading everyone else's perspectives and reflections, they really made me consider my own view point.

🔍Of all the skills and qualities mentioned in the 5 different domains of IDG, which 3 skills/qualities do you excel at? How do these skills/qualities allow you to better help yourself or other people?

I believe I excel at empathy, openness, and sense-making. It allows me to understand others and provide a judgement-free space where they can say whatever they need to and I can help them work through it.

🔍Note down 1-2 skills/qualities you would like to improve upon. How will this improvement change your experience?

I'd like to improve my trust. I'm good at fostering it and having it placed in my hands, but I do struggle to trust others. I think it would really help me when I'm struggling if I felt comfortable to reach out to others.

Thank you so SO much for developing this course, it has been fascinating! 😊

My top values were honestly, loyal, and love. I found that out from taking the online quiz. I found the quiz entertaining and helpful to read about my personality characteristics.

🔍Note down 1-2 skills/qualities you would like to improve upon. How will this improvement change your experience? I would like to improve my assertiveness and critical thinking skills. I think that I try my best to be assertive but I can try harder. Also, it would help me if I could have better critical thinking skills.

This course on Inner Developmental Goals (IDG) has been an eye-opening experience that deepened my understanding of personal growth and how to develop skills that can help me navigate life's complexities and contribute meaningfully to my community. Some of the key takeaways for me include:

  1. The Importance of Self-Awareness: I've learned that understanding my strengths and weaknesses allows me to cultivate a better sense of self and approach challenges with resilience. Recognizing that mistakes are part of the growth process has helped me shift from a fixed mindset to a learning mindset.

  2. The Role of Perspective and Complexity Awareness: Gaining awareness of the multiple perspectives around me, especially when approaching complex problems, has taught me to appreciate the nuances in every situation. I now feel more open to embracing challenges as opportunities for learning rather than obstacles.

  3. Collaboration and Co-Creation: Understanding the power of collaboration and having the skills to work effectively with diverse groups is crucial. This course reinforced the idea that fostering trust and being inclusive allows for more impactful change, whether in professional settings or in personal life.

  4. Driving Change with Persistence and Optimism: It was empowering to reflect on how persistence and optimism are essential in driving change, especially in uncertain times. The course highlighted that even in moments of doubt, maintaining hope and continuing to act is the way forward.

Overall, this course has helped me recognize the importance of having a comprehensive approach to growth that involves self-awareness, empathy, and social skills. I feel more equipped to not only improve my own life but also contribute positively to the lives of others around me. Thank you for offering such a meaningful learning experience!

The IDG has been a delightful learning experience with incredible resources on a myriad of skills.

As I have reached the end of the course, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what I learned in this course. The IDGC presents a set of crucial skills and qualities that contribute to our growth and development. Developing these skills allows us to become our best selves and contribute to the well-being of our communities. My Key takeaways from this course are the concepts of an inner compass and value-based decision-making. Making choices and decisions should align with our core values and beliefs and come from a place of authenticity and not copying.

Of all the skills and qualities mentioned in the 5 different domains of IDG, which 3 skills/qualities do you excel at? How do these skills/qualities allow you to better help yourself or other people?

I consider empathy, self-awareness, complexity awareness, and communication skills to be the skills that I excel at. These qualities allow me to understand my limitations, needs, strengths, and weaknesses and to have a realistic and clear image of who I am. As I communicate clearly and show empathy to those around me, I contribute to their well-being and to creating a harmonious environment where we can all thrive.

Note down 1-2 skills/qualities you would like to improve upon. How will this improvement change your experience?

A skill I would love to improve on is Humility. By being humble, I can act better in various situations instead of focusing on my importance. Humility will also free me from needing confirmation and approval from others.

Hi Hope and everyone! 🌻

Thank you for creating this space—this course has been such a meaningful journey for me. I appreciated how the IDG framework invited deep personal reflection and really encouraged intentional growth, not just surface-level self-improvement. One of my biggest aha moments was realizing how interconnected all the domains are—how developing presence (Being) can directly support better communication (Collaborating), or how perspective skills (Thinking) make empathy (Relating) more authentic. It made the whole experience feel holistic.

🔍 Three skills/qualities I feel I excel at:

  1. Self-awareness – I’ve done a lot of inner work to understand my triggers, patterns, and emotional needs, especially as someone navigating autism and BPD. This helps me regulate my reactions and show up for others in a grounded, empathetic way.

  2. Empathy and Compassion – I deeply relate to people’s emotional experiences and can offer a nonjudgmental space. I know what it’s like to feel misunderstood or overwhelmed, and that makes me a more present listener.

  3. Openness and Learning Mindset – I’ve learned to embrace feedback, even when it’s tough. Seeing mistakes as chances to grow has helped me build stronger relationships and a more resilient sense of self.

🔍 One or two qualities I’d like to improve:

  • Long-term orientation and visioning – I sometimes get caught up in short-term emotions or immediate needs. Strengthening this skill would help me stay focused on my bigger goals and make more grounded decisions.

  • Trust – Because of past hurt, I sometimes struggle to fully trust others or let go of control. Building trust—both in myself and others—will allow me to deepen my relationships and experience more ease in connection.

Thanks again for this space to reflect! I’d love to hear what others are working on or celebrating too 💛
