Paradox of knowing
Isn't it so weird that everytime we think now we know a lot (regardless of knowing we don't even know what we don't know) our thoughts get shattered by something which shakes our foundation or makes us confront with our shadows. Boom we have a new reality but with the same thought 'we know a lot.'
On the flip side if you don't think this way you are always doubting yourself endlessly because you know the knowledge is endless.
Isn't it difficult to be aware yet confident. Atleast, I don't know how to be both what do you all think?
@searchingSoul01 I get what you mean. Whenever I'm asked to take a side on an important topic, I'm made aware of how incompetent I am. I don't know much about current events, or things that really matter because I'm usually in my own rabbit hole of psychology and reading. I'm a big academic person, and the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know. There are so many books out there I will never read, cultures I'll never understand, and lives I'll never live. However, we have to make our own choices. Based on whatever knowledge I know on the topic, I choose to be firm on my opinion of it, but be open to others opinions and evidence.
@searchingSoul01 Yeah, I’ve felt that too. It’s like every time I think I’ve figured something out, life throws something at me that makes me question everything again. And then somehow, I go back to thinking I’ve got things under control. It’s a weird cycle.
But I get what you're saying. If you’re too aware of how much you don’t know, you can start doubting everything, including yourself. Still, I think confidence doesn’t have to mean thinking you know everything. Maybe it just means being steady enough to keep learning without falling apart every time something shifts. I’m still figuring it out too. It’s not easy to be aware and confident at the same time, but maybe they don’t have to cancel each other out.
@searchingSoul01 I agree that it is indeed difficult to balance awareness with confidence (or awareness and any number of other things--awareness kind of takes up all the air sometimes, doesn't it?). I feel like this might even be the basis of the human experience; to be able to see clearly from as universal a perspective as possible and with full awareness maintain our confidence, our forward momentum, and achieve all the million things everyone must do in a given day.
This is a fascinating topic, thanks for sharing it!
@searchingSoul01
it is difficult to be aware and yet confident, but in my opinion, being aware doesnt have to mean doubting yourself. it can be staying open and trusting yourself, making them coexist peacefully.
@searchingSoul01
Thank you so much for this!
