What Does It Really Mean to Heal?
I view healing, especially when it comes to mental health, as a way of freeing ourselves from the burdens we carry. Sometimes, letting go and allowing certain things to die a natural death in our lives can be part of healing.
But how do we really know that we have healed from the things that hurt us or affected our mental health?
Forgiveness can be a very hard decision. Holding on to pain for a very long time can also be draining. But what happens when something from the past comes back and triggers those old feelings? Does that mean we haven't really healed, or can we be healed and still have moments where certain things affect us?
These are questions I often ask myself.
I've seen life through different circumstances and situations, and It also makes me wonder about how we distinguish genuine healing from simply learning to cope, practice self-love, choose happiness, and focusing on the things that give us peace.
Maybe healing isn't about completely forgetting what happened. Maybe it's about getting to a point where what happened no longer controls how we live.
I'm still trying to understand this for myself.
How do you personally know when you've healed from something? And if you still get triggered by something from your past, does that mean you haven't healed, or is that simply part of being human?

Healing for me doesn't have a time line.
It's a process.
It has ups and downs.
I know I'm starting to heal when I'm giving myself permission to just be.
When I'm accepting happiness.
When I'm accepting love.
When I'm letting people in 💛

@Amanda84 This reply means so much. This is the stage I am and I'm so happy that someone is relating to how I feel. Thanks Amanda. Much love 💋🤗♥️

A pleasure 💜
such an important thing to think about! I think healing is like a spiral, you go back from time to time to the same things but with different mindset🙏🏻

Dear @Favouredlily17
I consider myself a survivor. This healing process , trying to heal, trying to let go . is survival in itself.
It's easy to talk or read about healing, and to say "what wonderful words." But in reality, there's still that broken piece in our hearts, that missing part (or more) of the puzzle, that keeps reminding us of what happened. Maybe it's there for us to learn from, maybe to take care of later , but it will still be a missing piece.
And that's okay. I think it's a human thing.
Some days I feel like I've moved forward, and other days that missing piece comes back to remind me it's still there. Either way, what matters is remembering that we walked through that path, and we're still alive.
