Letter to my symptom series week 5
✉️Letter to my Symptom Series Week 5: Fatigue
Welcome back to the letter to my symptom series. This week, we are writing a letter to a heavy, frustrating, and often invisible burden: Fatigue.
Fatigue can make our limbs feel like lead, fog up our brains, and make even the simplest daily tasks feel like climbing a mountain. It is incredibly easy to resent our exhaustion because it feels like it’s stealing our time and productivity. But fatigue is actually our body’s ultimate emergency brake. It is a protective boundary forced upon us from the inside out, screaming at us to slow down, rest, and heal when we have been running on empty for too long.
So this week, we will thank our fatigue for stepping in to stop us from completely burning out, but we will also negotiate a healthier balance. We will acknowledge its warning to rest, without letting it entirely consume our lives.
✏️ How to participate:
Write a 5-to-10 sentence letter to your fatigue, acknowledging its role in forcing you to rest, but setting boundaries so it doesn't completely overwhelm your ability to live.
Example:
Dear Fatigue,
I confess that I often resent you for slowing me down and disrupting my plans, but I am learning to see that you are actually my body's emergency brake. Thank you for stepping in when I ignore my own limits, forcing me to stop, rest, and recover before I completely break down. You are proof that my body has limits that deserve to be respected. However, I need you to know that your heavy, suffocating presence can feel entirely overwhelming. I promise to start listening to my body earlier and practicing real, intentional rest, but I need you to lift enough for me to still participate in the life I love. Let's work together to find a balance where rest is a choice, not a punishment.

Dear Fatigue,
Just yesterday, you overwhelmed me, and I hated you for it. I spent so long thinking about what you were robbing from me, I didn't consider why you showed up at all. I realise that you're necessary, if only to remind me of my limits. I'm sorry I haven't been listening to you. Please be patient with me. I promise to heed your warnings, if you'll be more forgiving of my restlessness.

Dear fatigue,
I really don't like having you whenever you enters in my life it's feels life have stopped I'm falling back, missing out all these feelings pop up but at this time of hardness I allow myself to rest without feeling guilty even though I do have fear that I'll fall behind and miss many things but I'm aware that I'll gain many things as well in the phase.
I show more compassion to myself and act kind I become as gentle as delicate possible and it shows how much love I've hidding for myself.
Dear fatigue, thankyou for all the positive and negative lessons.
Dear fatigue,
You certainly are a reminder of my mortal body's limitations... and thanks for helping me keep from making myself ill or pass out... but you're like a butler that hides in shadows and clears his throat constantly until I go to my quarters... And then you clock out as soon as I do. You do nothing to actually help me rest or sleep, you just kind of... Ominously promise to be right there as soon as I wake up. You think that doesn't hurt my sleep? Knowing that I'll be exhausted as soon as I wake up, because the real world doesn't care about my body's limitations?
@cheerfulKiwi1776
Dear fatigue,
Just about everyday you show up and inhibit me from doing the most basic of things. I try to ignore you and push you aside, but you know me too well and know I cant. Its hard for me to do things with you always lurking by my side. But maybe this is just a reminder to take things more slowly, and to make time for rest. And maybe this time I'll listen.

Dear Fatigue,
I know the protective role you play in my life, forcing me to slow down and listen to my body when I push too hard. I appreciate you doing this but I need to set some firm boundaries so you no longer dictate every aspect of my life. From now on, I will do my best to schedule enough rest to prevent your complete takeovers. In return, I expect you to respect the energy I need to pursue my goals and actually live my life. We can coexist, but you are no longer allowed to run the show.
Sincerely,
Twist

dear Fatigue
truth is at times i hate you seems like your always pushing me to rest and be still but this me very much angry with the health issues i have seems you never want me to do anything at all that the hard part for me but maybe i need to slow down so not over do things as that make you push me more and more to slow down and not over do things so please be patient and gentle with me so between us we can find some type of balance
this hit home as i was down most the weekend then Monday almost passed out when out with home aid she end up calling 911 and they took me to hospital did full workup on me seems that in the end they said i was very dehydrated so maybe need to slow down more as Friday did laundry with home aid at laundromat and then after home aid left i was cleaning in living room so yes over did it until i end up in bed all weekend then the hospital monday
@HopeWithinDarkness
I m sorry you went through this experience. Thanks for trusting me enough to open up. Going through something like this is hard. Please don't overextend yourself, fatigue shows us the warning sings and we have to listen to it because otherwise we will cause more health problems. I believe in you though.✨️💚
@cheerfulKiwi1776
thanks now i believe some of my health issues be due to bottling up emotions due to was punished for showing them so learned was unsafe to have them unsafe to share them i believe that our body keep score of things and well when not able or allowed to voice emotions it come out within health issues they now believe Fibromyalgia is related to trauma but also the body bring out bottled up stuff over time that why it found in abuse victims, ones been in wars and other things that they could not talk about openly
so yes our body remembers and well even the emotions one not voice can add to the health issues might be why i have at my age long list of health problems
@HopeWithinDarkness
Yes this is indeed very true. I have the same problem as well because I grow up in a toxic household and I cannot open up freely. I get you. I believe in you. You can do it. And if you ever need any help we are here for you✨️💚
