Hi everyone, and welcome back to Week 2 of our series!Last week, we told our hyperactive anxiety security guards to stand down. This week, we are shifting our focus to depression, burnout, or just that heavy, unmotivated feeling we sometimes get. Remember: you are not your low mood. It is just a temporary visitor.
📝 How to Participate:
Read the weekly prompt below.Write a short, 5-to-10 sentence "letter" to that symptom in the replies.Keep it raw, creative, or even a little humorous!
✨️ Week 2 Prompt: Letter to My Depression / Low Mood
Imagine your depression, fatigue, or low mood is an incredibly gloomy roommate. They have taken over your favorite couch, pulled down all the window blinds, and are constantly sighing loudly while telling you that going outside is "too much work."Write a short letter telling this roommate that you are opening the windows and leaving the apartment today, with or without them.
Example:
"Dear Depression,I know you find the dark living room comfortable, but your negative energy is ruining my week. You've been sitting on my couch for three days straight eating my emotional snacks and telling me everything is pointless. Well, I am opening the curtains today because I need the sunlight. You can stay on the couch if you want, but I am putting on my shoes and going for a walk.
— Me"

To my super noisy and hopeless depression,
For a very long time I thought you were a part of, something which is unremovable. But now I feel that you becomed a choice for me mostly. Usually I can feel when your starting your gears and are about to ruin whole my whole mood, and that's when I know I can just shut you down by, hoping; and you never were a part of me, just like a dirty cloth I had to bear for a while.

What a beautiful prompt! Thank you for tagging me.
Here is my response to the prompt:
"Dear Low Mood, Sometimes it can be pretty difficult to find motivation to do anything. It can also feel as if you are alone/as if no one understands you. Completing tasks little by little and rewarding yourself for them and reminding yourself that you are not alone; will help you to feel much better, Be kind and gentle with yourself and extend the same grace and kindess you extend to others, to yourself."

Such an amazing letter! Thank you for writing this. I wish you the best and I believe you can make this✨️🩵

Mr. Low Mood,
I don't know if anyone's told you, but you have horrible timing. I try to be patient with you, and I really get that you need to visit me every now and then. But you can't just barge into my life and stay there uninvited. That's the definition of rude. I hope you'll leave, now. Go do something other than haunt me for a while, please.
Your (unwilling) host,
– Me

Still late 😅
Dear Depression,
You almost had me convinced that this darkness will last forever and that my struggles were a sign of weakness. You make the simple tasks feel like mountains, clouding my mind with doubts and isolating me from everyone and everything.
I want you to know that I am trying to learn to separate your voice from my own. I am trying to fight back by recognizing your presence and taking small, steps toward healing. My strength isn't defined by how often I fall under your weight, but by my will to stand back up. I know we'll cross paths again, but you no longer have complete control over my life. I am reclaiming my light, and I refuse to let you win.
Sincerely,
Twist

Dear Depression,
I really have nothing to say to you. You don’t deserve a single word of mine. You don’t deserve a single second of my time. You have taken enough already. I don’t think language is even relevant, unless there is any speech that can *** a black, ***, bottomless maw; a horrific vortex of relentless, ever-present hopelessness and misery. No. I have NOTHING for you. All I can do is scream from the bottom of my being, and beg of the universe that you NEVER. EVER. EVER show your rotting, despicable, evil self again. EVER.
With contempt,
Sophia.
@JustSophia
Apparently the censor thought that I was saying something inappropriate. I'll try to replace the words I was trying to use...
with... "infiltrate" (?)
and... "voracious"
For what it's worth.
