Week One: Chapter 1 & 2
Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Week 1 of our community building course has started! Please read this post for more information. For week one, please read and thoroughly understand the following document consisting of chapter 1 and chapter 2 summary of the get together book.

Ask yourself the following questions to ensure understanding:
What is the main message of each chapter?
How does each chapter apply to 7 Cups?
How can YOU help with the aim of each chapter?
Once you have read and understood please take the following quiz. The quiz consists of a variety of questions including essay questions that test your comprehension. In order to move forward to the next week and eventually receive your certificate, you need at least a score of 8/10. If you get a less score, dont worry you can submit again.

Here are my learnings from the first chapter:
This chapter focused on two main questions: Who do I want to engage with and why are we coming together? The first part is important for maintaining your own interest and finding like-minded people with whom you care about and a cause you care about. The second part is important for maintaining interest of the group in the community activities. It also talks about finding out people who are already engaged or interested and then starting to build the community around them.
Here are my learnings from the second chapter:
This chapter talked about what you should do to make your community start on the path of collaborative work. This includes remembering the Why (why we are together, what brings us together, what we have in common), making it participatory (people are coming together to feel connected and contribute, not just listen to a sermon), and making it repeatable (this helps people get engaged in the activities more). In the end, communities are made of relationships and they take effort and time to flourish.
