Completed chapters 5 and 6! 

Here is what I learned from chapter 5: 

This chapter talked about cultivating the group's identity. This can be done by having appreciation badges, shared language and signature rituals. All of these help people identify with the cause and community they are engaged in and support / defend it outside in the world as well. It also supports well-being because it gives you a sense of belonging to something greater than yourself. These small things can go a long way in keeping the group engaged and connected as it evolves with time. 

Here's what I learned from chapter 6: 

This chapter was about paying attention to who keeps showing up inside the community. As a leader it is very important to understand who are the engaged members of the community who keep engaging regularly. It helps to track metrics, demographics, and classifications of people and their behaviours in the community. This is how the community leader can be in touch with how the community is evolving and what to do in case of any mishap in the community. Tracking data and metrics are important as they depict human behavior, needs and motivations.
