Course 2, Discussion 1: Understanding your Leadership Style
Hello everyone,
If you are reading this, it means you have come a long way in your leadership training. Kudos to you for all the effort and resilience you have shown! It is amazing how you all are open to learning and adapting to new environments: the environment of leadership!
Before we zoom in and talk more about learning and adapting, lets zoom back out first and talk about how you feel about leadership. Regardless of how you see yourself, there is a leader within you. The one who visualizes how things could have run in a better way if you were in the leading spot. Leading spot here means:
A desire for change
Believing you got the abilities to make it happen
Visualizing success while keeping in mind the bigger picture.
Lets take a look at the leadership styles as proposed by Daniel Goleman
Picture taken from this source.
Your original style could be any of them. So for the purpose of this course, we are going to use a leadership style test to help you identify your core competencies. In brief, we are using the test here to help you identify your leadership approach. So, when you know how you approach an event, you could think and put efforts to bring a change in it. It will allow you to polish your strengths and focus to improve in other different areas as well.
Let's get started!
- Please take the leadership style test linked HERE.

Which leadership style did you score the highest for?
I score 35 out of 35 on Visionary, Democratic, and Affiliative. There isn't one style I score highest at.
Do you agree with this quiz?
I am in my learning phase, I do feel like some of the score do resemble my leadership style, but I don't want to put my blind faith in the scores. I will find out, whether if I agree or not, as I progress further. However, it was nice doing this quiz. Love it ~💛
@yoursmileisasradientastheSun
I agree with you. I didn't have a particular high score in the test so I guess I'll find out by myself :)

✒️ Which leadership style did you score the highest for?
Affiliative 34/35 & coaching 34/35
✒️ Do you agree with this quiz?
I do agree I had pretty close score for a few, I would also like to add that I am pretty democratic but maybe in emergency situations I am not.
@sereneMango2512 I can definitely relate to having several leadership styles score closely together, and I think being able to adapt is a real strength :)
@sereneMango2512 It seems like it would perhaps be a good thing to not be democratic in emergent situations as you could be the one to take charge and lead until the situation is less emergent :) And maybe at that point your leadership style would then adapt and become more democratic once the crisis has passed
@awesomeForever34
Yes I think my style is like that only
@Hope ✒️ Which leadership style did you score the highest for? 34/35 total visionary score and 35/35 total democratic score

@Hope Thanks for sharing <3
Which leadership style did you score the highest for? Pacesetting.
Do you agree with this quiz? Yep! I think it reflects my leadership style quite well. I also had several other leadership styles score similarly high, which makes sense because I adapt my approach depending on the situation.
@talktome610 Adaptation is such an important skill!
@Hope
I am a visionary leader and I can see why it said that!
@Hope
I scored the highest in Democratic and Pacesetting. However they're both 28/35 and are not much higher than the others. I agree with the democratic part coming from a pretty democratic background. Not sure about the pacesetting style.
