It’s so difficult. I just feel so hated. I know I have people in my life who love me but it’s hard when the media is so hateful.

@RJhasCresteds I'm not American, but I'm keeping track of what's going on there in terms of LGBT rights and I'm so sorry for queer people who live there, particularly trans people whose existence is being deliberately attacked and put in danger.
Anyone with an ounce of humanity and compassion should stand up against this, and yet I see people refusing to understand or not getting involved in politics. Politics concerns everyone, particularly those who are not as privileged as others, and everyone must take part in resistance when human rights are being attacked.
Best way to cope would be to rely on community. Tools such as therapy and self care might not be effective if we feel like we're alone and not understood: at times like this, there's no greater strength than uniting with other people who are going through the same and resisting together. Reaching out to local queer communities to offer each other support and build new support tools and networks together, as queer people always have, is the way to move forward.
Stay safe and rely on your community. And don't hesitate to take part in active politics and community care as much as you can, while encouraging other to do the same. Despair is a natural reaction, but the ones who are trying to bring us down will not see us going down without a fight.

Hi, I'm a non-binary seventeen-year-old.

I'm dying inside. My mental health has completely fallen apart. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do when I leave home. Sometimes I have days where I spend the whole evening just screaming in my room.

In other words, I have no idea how anyone handles this.

I feel this post a lot. Trans person here too living in the United States. I've been focusing on caring for myself, community building (with allies, other queer people), and offering what I can to support/resist changes that harm the community. It isn't easy.
