How to avoid drama at family functions
Check - In April 11th to April 13th 2025
Do you ever go to family outtings or reunions hoping not to get sweeped into family drama. The question is how not to get involved in them so you may enjoy the gathering. Are you ever afraid to voice your feelings by asking not to get involved. Do you set boundaries when going to see family ?
One way to avoid drama is by setting boundaries, know when arriving what pariticipation you will be envolved in and which ones you will avoid. Families always will have those bickering or hard to get a long with relative.
It is also okay to take a time out from these relatives, whether walking away or simply saying to not involve yourself. Family drama will always happen whether we want it or not, two members bickering over childish things getting to have other family members side with them over the other member of the family.
Remember that the topic of the drama is not your fault and you don't need to take on added stress or problems. Distancing yourself from the drama is one thing we try to do to appreciate the family members we are there to see.
Do you ever feel like the family drama is too over - whelming for you?
Do you speak your mind when confronted?
How do you feel when drama is in a family ?

When there was drama in the family in the past, I always felt terrible and isolated myself.
@pamharley003 In all honesty, I avoid family as much as possible or all together. Way more peaceful that way

I try to remember that I don't need to respond or get involved. They might think me rude or dumb when I stare blankly, but I know the choice to not escalate is not dumb.
I also think, how would I respond if I was in listener role and they were a member? Thinking of them as a stranger who needs support can also be very useful for staying out of the drama.
