Self compassion can be divided into three main components:

  •  Being kind and open to one's own suffering
  •  The awareness of sharing experiences with others (common humanity)
  •  and practicing mindfulness approaches

What does it look,  and feel like to treat yourself with compassion and care?

No judgement, no blame, no shame. Treat oneself like a loving parent would.

I hear you! It took me a while to understand and apply self-kindness but eventually with practise I got there Tinywhisper11. You deserve your own love, you're spreading so much love here for others!

It's very difficult to practice self-compassion, but I'm working on it.  It feels sad, I think, to acknowledge the struggles I'm going through.  Maybe because I'd prefer someone else to acknowledge them and comfort me, rather than me having to do it myself all the time.

@thoughtfulmomma I hear you. It seems to m to be a universal wish to have a fairy god mother that has a magic wand that helps me feel better when I am down.

@soulsings

Some days I just need someone else to be responsible for all the caring and worrying, for someone else to take the reins and just let me rest.

It's difficult and weird. I was told it is like taking care of your children which is totally unnatural for me because I was not taught self-compassion. I was taught self-resentment and to be really hard on myself and that focusing on myself or caring for myself is bad, selfish and you should only care for yourself after you care for the other people and/or members of the family.

But I'm getting used to it, I already see it makes my mental health a lot better. The more I do it the better it works.

Sadly some of the things we have been taught are simply wrong. Good that you became aware of it and realized what really helps! Keep staying on that path of self compassion and self care! 👍
