Mindfulness Daily Check-In November 16, 2021
We are all one no matter of status, religion, gender or anything else
All lives are precious as they are, whether you’re rich, poor or wise or ignorant. Yet, often homeless people suffer from stigma, and are labelled as outsiders of our society. Being homeless often means tremendous suffering, mentally and physically. It is believed that about 150 million people, or about 2 percent of the world’s population, are homeless to some extent and about 1.6 billion, more than 20 percent, lack adequate housing. Living on the street can come with many challenges like poor nutrition, substance abuse and mental health problems.
I'm grateful for having a roof over my head, particularly at night and with bad weather.
Something I find very important is to treat each and every person with dignity, whether homeless or not.
A simple “Hello, how are you” does not cost anything but it can make someone living on the street feeling acknowledged and not ignored.
❤️ What could be a simple act of kindness people could show a homeless person, what could you do next time you see them?

I ran upon one homeless man at our local Dollar store. He was huddled up in a corner on the side of the store. I gave him some money to use as he needed and someone else brought him a plate of food. He sat there eating and my heart just went out to him. I wanted to go home and get him a blanket to keep warm
@scarletPear1945
You are so awesome!
@scarletPear1945
It is hard to see how some people have to exist and I can relate to your desire wanting him to have something to keep him warm. It was very kind of you and the other person to help him with money and food and I'm sure he was very thankful for it. I hope others saw it and will follow your example and help too.
@amiablePeace77
I really relate to this post because I was one of those homeless people for a while and all I got was abused and used and I never want that to be anyone else's experience. It does not take anything away from us to show love and kindness to someone.❤️
@amiablePeace77 ❤️ What could be a simple act of kindness people could show a homeless person, what could you do next time you see them?
What I heard is to take a dollar or what you are able to give and put it in both hands and give it to them telling them that they wish it could be more and I hope you get all the things you need.

I would smile and say hello to that person, because they deserve to be treated with kindness! I would also give them some money so that they can sustain themselves, and even start a conversation with them so that they can feel supported! 😊

@RumpleSteeleSkin
Rumple, you're truly a very passionate person with a big big heart!
@amiablePeace77
thank you❤️
If I see a homeless person and I'm on the road, I usually try to smile at them to help them feel seen. Many people avert their eyes when they see homeless people. I know that I'm not that much better than those people, as there are times when I could have helped someone but I didn't. But I'm wanting to be better at helping those in need.
I did give money to an old guy who asked for some when I was in a McDonald's parking lot a while ago. I gave him some and he went inside the restaurant. I hope he had a nice meal!
I'm wanting to try volunteering at a food bank again. I did once when I was in college and really liked helping people pick out their food. I remember growing up my mother had to use food banks because we were very poor, so I definitely can relate.
@cafedaydreams a food bank sounds nice! How was your experience when you were there. :)
@amiablePeace77
I did came across some i talked with the person prayed and cried with the person. Cause my heart goes out to them. I am praying more on what to do to help them.
Thank you for Posting this.
@amiablePeace77
Was coming home from a long day had two extra tacos leftover from work. Saw someone and decided to give one and a high five. Talked to him for a bit to wind down and honestly was a great experience.
@sunnyWriting4806 that is a very nice thing you did sunny! :) I bet you learned a lot from him too. :)
@amiablePeace77
In the past, whenever I go out, I always bring some food with me, especially when my friends and I eat outside. I do not like giving money to homeless people that much because we have a lot of syndicates here in my country where people are pushing kids to beg for money to be remitted back. This is why I always bring extra food or candies to give to them. One thing that I would love to do sometime though is to talk to them. I still do not have the courage to do it with adults but I have done it with children and I learned a lot from these kids. They're so mature for their age and yet they suffer a lot.
@crang17
I'm so sorry to hear about the situation in your country, sadly this seems to be a problem worldwide. I've seen and experienced it too in some countries, vulnerable kids are exploited. It's a wonderful idea to give them food and treats and even more to offer them your ear and maybe shoulder to cry on.
@amiablePeace77 that is true! It is so sad that some people abuse children for money. Sometimes, it is also hard to talk to them because it is putting their lives at risk. There are always gangsters in the shadows watching them. Sigh, but a treat or food is really helpful and much better. However, I did experience times when they will throw away the food and ask for money instead. Perhaps understandable in a way that they might need other essentials aside from food or that they haven't completed the money they need to remit.
