Setting healthy boundaries in life is so you may live a peaceful time and not worry about things too much. It is identifying self-reflections, communicating your thoughts properly through words and gestures, and directly using the word "I" in sentences. We begin to practice the word "no" when asked to do things we do not feel comfortable doing for others. There is nothing wrong with saying no if you feel uncomfortable and are not sure if you want to do something; prioritize self-care for yourself and understand you are not responsible for other people's words or actions.

Tips for Mind-Setting:

Identify your limits: Know just how far you're willing to stretch for others without imposing hard times for yourself. Pay close attention to your physical and emotional stresses you may begin to have.

Be clear and direct: Know what you're wanting to say and say it with confidence. Be direct that when you may say "no," explain why and be precise in your words. Communicate openly using "I need" or "I feel uncomfortable doing or saying this."

Begin small: begin with smaller boundaries and work your way up to bigger ones. Know with each boundary what you are willing and not willing to do.

Be consistent: stay the course of the boundaries you have set and do not go against them. They were set for a reason.

Manage guilt and resistance: Do not feel upset for not doing something if it does not seem right to you; do not feel bullied into doing them. If saying something to someone will upset or anger them, then maybe it should not be said.

Using digital boundaries: When with someone you're uncomfortable with, set a time frame for the person and keep tabs on the time.  If you are alone and do not want to be interrupted, turn off your electronic devices so you can be at peace with yourself.

Self-Care: Maintain a time in the day to take care of yourself, because no one else will. Do not be upset if you missed a phone call or visitor at the house. You can always apologize later on with a reason for being distant. The number one person to take care of always is YOU.

@Harmony8682

I, myself have problems with people pleasing. I need to learn to please myself first before I can do this for others.
