Why as people do we let others make us doubt ourselves?
Why do other people's words have such an effect in us, even when they are wrong?
How do you deal with it?
@Amanda84 We are just human so we feel things, some of us are sensitive (guilty), others aren't. It depends I guess, if what they say triggers me.
I've blocked/ignored. I've been snarky back to them. I can take it to heart too. I prefer not to get drawn into battle unless I'm in the mood for it.
I guess a nice thing to think/say is. You just don't know me and I'm not going to justify myself to you because you're not worth my time.
And then remind yourself of all your wonderfully warm sweet mushy gooey sickly adorable qualities 🥰😂
@ScrabbleBrain
I love that, not get drawn into battle 😁
You've made some great points!
Triggers!
Mood!
If we are in a good mood, it would probably slide off us like water off a ducks back, but when we are slightly more emotional, exhausted or fed up, it can cannot or make us doubt!
Mostly I never care about anyone's opinions, ever!

I suppose it's a slight against our Ego. We have this idea of who we are and what we hope others see and recognize and when someone disagrees with that idea, even if they're objectively wrong... it kinda makes us wanna reaffirm who we are.
Agreed! I always try to defend or justify it.
@Amanda84
Sometimes we let other people’s words affect us because we’re seeking acceptance or validation. But the most important thing is to remember our true worth and trust ourselves, even if others are wrong.
@Amanda84 I have renamed "gaslighting" as "cuckooing". Chaos used inversion when it promoted the term "gaslight" to hide its insidious sabotage. The term comes from a black-and-white Ingrid Bergman movie. I call this insidious sabotage "cuckooing" after the bird who puts its eggs into another species of bird's nest at the peril of the hosts own offspring.
I be really nice to them and just agree. It either pisses them off or make them nicer towards you… that’s what I do at my work atleast.
@beachmelon74
I love the first option 🤣
Kill then with kindness lol
@Amanda84
I learned a great lesson because I had been through people's scrutiny that made me feel so low about myself. It caused me to become so depressed and lonely.
But after a while. I told myself. They don't know me. They don't know that battles I fought each day. They don't know what it's like living with depression and anxiety and still trying my best to act normal. Still trying my best to be that strong person because I have to be for my loved ones. I have to be for the people who truly believed in me.
And I tell myself. They don't feed me. They don't help in solving my problems. They are nuisance in my life that I should not spend my precious time.
I don't want to feel that self doubt anymore. Cause I believe in myself. I believe that I am not what they tell me. I am not what they say about me. I am not that person.
If they see me that way, it's their own eyes only. It's their perception of me.
But I know myself and my worth better than these people who scrutinize me.
In the end. I know I am happier with my life.
