It's Friday again! How is everyone? 🤶

Let's talk about perfectionism today.

Perfectionism can lead to fear, anger, low confidence and more. It can make your lives very difficult. In most cases no one expects us to do things perfectly but ourselves. In the long run our drive for perfectionism will use up a huge amount of energy we need for doing other things.

So, here are 2 questions I ask myself to get back balance.

enlightenedI commit to doing the following a little less perfectly …

enlightenedIf I did this, I think my life would be a little better because …

Does perfectionism give you challenges and if so what helps you to get off that track?

Surrendering this need is hard for some... each person has to hit some point in growth when this realization hits them.

There is no perfect... pursuing perfect is futile as perfect is easily redefined and replaced at a whim, disappointment, or moment of doubt. Take a step back and replace "it has to be perfect" with "look at my progress" or "I'm proud of myself for trying this".

As an artist/writer/human, one of the most important lessons I've learned...
Art (writing, cleaning the house, styling hair, whatever) isn't about working on it until its perfect. It's about getting to a point you're happy with it and your efforts and walking away from it.

The phrase given me, "Art is never finished... it's abandoned - and this is one of the hardest thing and artist can learn, when to stop and walk away."

@diplomaticconfucious

Confucious, I can see how difficult it must be for an artist to let the piece of art just be as it is without searching for the tiniest thing which might not be "perfect" - and right you are, there is no real perfection, never. I love your point of being content/happy and stepping back.

@amiablePeace77 perfectionism in me leads to self criticism and judgment. So one thing I am not trying to do perfectly is yoga. I was trying to copy the movement of young flexible twenty years old doing yoga and it hurt the next day so no more of that. I do yoga as much as my body allows and no more.

Hiya Peace thanks for this check insmiley Perfection comes in so many shapes and sizes I say lol. This does not get in my way tho. Mostly it is approval....so to me I think they can be opsesses/over rated. I constantly have to look inside myself and be mindful of who I am and my limits. Why am I busting my bumb-for whome? Me? Or someone else? Once I do this normally I am refocused. Also the mindfulness grounding really is helpfulheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Rumple, you mentioned a very important fact - understanding who you are and your limits. Accepting our limits avoids thriving for something we can never achieve, namely to be perfect.

To be a perfectionist in the life will turn everything in the hard condition to go on in the life weekly when you try to be perfect at high price at no matter happens in the life. It would kill me slowly If I fall into that perfectionist mindset, and fall in the idealism life for being perfectionist.. Stopped doing it a several years, and accepted the life as a normal human being like every one of you, and be a simple person. NO one can be perfect at all time.

@kindTurtle1458

Turtle, I totally agree to you and I am glad that you stopped it some time ago. Noone can be perfect. I was brought up with the "demand of achieving the best" but it proved to be wrong. My mantra is "do the best you can".
