Mindfulness Daily Check-In April 28
Hello Wonderful Mindfulness Community, How are we doing?
In our recent checkin dated April 26, we discussed about forgiveness and how it is important to stay mindful. So, I want to continue our discussion on it and discuss about "Adopting a Learning Mindset" to practice forgiveness.
Self-blame is a human tendency where we blame ourselves over a wide range of events and happenings took place in our lives. But, you know
continuous self blaming habit actually creates a big amount of stress that push us away from learning from our mistakes and unlocking a new source of happiness.
I believe we all agree to the thought that forgiving ourselves and learning from mistakes is really important for our mental well-being. Do you agree or disagree?
So, what's the Learning Mindset and what it looks like?
How could we adopt it?
Understand and realise that you are not the first or the last to make a mistake. It has likely be made by many before you and possible will be made by many after you. I don't mean that everyone will do wrong, I just simply letting you know that you are not alone and many of us have experienced it. We have a common tendency that we take things personally to a mistake. But, when we realize that no one is spared from being unskillful, we start taking it little less personally. It speeds up the process of forgiveness.
Another thought we need to recall and recognize that the mistake you committed is now the past. It is not present and you not doing it right now. So, whenever you recall your mistakes and feel like to blame yourself for it, try to acknowledge its presence and accept that it was the past and now you will learn from it. Practice of blaming not going to help either you or anyone else. But, acknowledging and learning from your mistakes will help you to take the process of forgiveness to next level. Mistakes are the sources of earning experience. So, if you made a mistake, it means you tried to learn a skill and now know that how hard or easy it is to learn a skill.
And, mistakes are unstoppable. We made mistakes and we will. Probably in different situations. Everyone does. So, bringing your mindset towards how mistakes can allow you to grow and be happy is learning mindset. Whatever we do actually includes tidbits to get better and better with our goals and objectivs of life. Forgive yourself for the past, investigate how you made a mistake and how differently you could have done it and invite yourself to do it again with a new better approach.
Forgive ====>> Investigate ======>> Invite <====> Learning Approach
Developing and applying a learning approach is what we all need to make self-forgiveness process better and more effective.
Now, question arises that do you agree with it? Do you disagree with it? What are your thoughts on it?? What else could we do to speed up the forgiveness process? Come, join and share with Mindfulness Community and Obs
Happy weekend!!

Today I am being mindful of watching my son do pole vault 2.5 hours away. They are taking the top 3 of each event.
@ASilentObserver
This is almost like a therapeutic counselling approach of re-visiting the past - remember, re-think , re-do It can work very well and help us to realise we are worth forgiveness :)
@MistyMagic thanks for sharing that approach. very thoughtful.
@ASilentObserver
HI Silent another wonderful post here
Im going to really try and have sugar on my words here so they don't come out wrong but with understanding to my views.
Forgivness to some is a very hard step to do in life...weather to ourselves or another. There are so many reasons why this takes forever to overcome- or move on in life.Some people some really bad things were done to them. For some, a person might of told them they are stupid-idk.Thing is we have to forgive ourselves or another in order to grow and live life.
Now the time limit on this.....hmmm, There is no time limit on forgiving another or self just to move the process forward faster. But I think some just need to forgive themselves or another to yes move on. Not mention it no more. Look forward and know there are wonderful people to show you kindness and unconditional love.
sorry hope this was not to direct as I know forgiving another isn't a 1-2-3 magic thing
Oooooo, and while I was getting my tattoo today, I kept thinking it was a mindful meditation, not follow the breath, follow the needle! Lol
@ASilentObserver
Thanks for continuing this topic.
I am going to have pause on this and revisit it. (Migraine continues and things are jumbly-confused... sigh)
It makes some sense... atm... but I think sometimes mistakes are so painful for reasons and healing from them won't fit a timeline - it has to progress through stages like grief. I think we grieve more things than we actually realize... far more actually- and we only recognize one application of grief in the grand scheme of life. (Discussion for another day)
I may pull more thoughts on this after I get my head back together.
@diplomaticconfucious sorry you are suffering from migraines. That sounds rough. Hope you find a way through that.
@soulsings
Thanks... it is what it is. Just have to keep swimming...
@ASilentObserver Hi Obs! :) How are you? How is your Sunday going so far? <3 I completely agree with everything you said in this amazing post of yours! It is easy to self-blame, but mistakes do happen and they do help us learn and grow immensely! I feel like self-forgiveness is easier that forgiving others though, but I think that is just my personal perspective on it. :/ I think having an immense amount of positive and encouraging support can definitely help speed up the forgiveness process as well.
