"What went well today with you?"

Sometimes, I am highly stressed due to some or other reasons. Regardless of how much I practice mindfulness, but in those moments it not work. Sad but true!sad

It happens with most of us that we can't stop thinking about something we don't like. Maybe you stressed due to work load, an argument with friend, a conflict wth colleague or partner or so on. It becomes difficult to let go such thoughts with an ease. So, it takes good practice to shift your mind to something better, something positive.

So what could we do to shift our mind to something positive?

I could share that visualize something about yourself that makes you feel proud. But, if you unable to think about such moment, then visualize you'd wish for yourself.

@ASilentObserver

I recently found a video with actor Chris Evans (Captain America) and he talks about the anxiety and depression he struggles with -- even with his success. I found something so simple in it - and profound (that I had forgotten about and am re-adopting) - that was calming the inner conversation ... "Shhhhhhh" (Video if anyone cares to watch it> https://youtu.be/HqSoxMOrVeE)

Taking a moment to filter through the symphonics of the mind and practicing something as simple as Shhhhh and stillness (making yourself still while in turmoil isn't easy) can help with resetting the thoughts. We let so much clutter into our brains - some come from external things or people (you're stupid; why do we even pay you; you look funny; tv, books, movies, etc) and some come from internal things (why did I do that; I can't do that; why am I even alive; those nasty weedy thoughts that come from who knows where, etc). We not only have to filter this internal dialogue but we need to silence it, kill it, and prevent it from proliferating or even existing.

Start with silence (shhhhhh) and stillness (relax and don't think) then start eliminating the destructive internal conversation THEN you can write things to the new chapter that you do want to belong with you (You know, I talked to 10 people at a meeting day that I didn't want to go to but survived anyway and I'm proud of myself. I achieved my set goal for the week - get the recycling out and I did it before it was pickup time. I took 30 minutes for myself and meditated and the stillness was bliss. Even small things make for great victories when you're rebuilding yourself.)

That's my 5cents worth... take what you want, leave what you will.

Thinking about some of the good times in the past such as travel, things I enjoy. Also listen to soft music and walking outdoors when the sun is shining. Sometimes I think just the sun warming your face when walking is a positve way to move forward.

@ASilentObserver

I am proud of myself to have learned to a good extend to say NO to situations which drain me or pull me down. What helps is

1. Self talk to "I do not need that", "I will make myself a wonderful day"

2. Breathing exercises to calm

3. Put on my favorite music

4. Planned a nice rest of the day (reward), meaning a favorite healthy meal, outdoor walk and usually some craft

@ASilentObserver Hi obs! I really am sorry to hear that, and I understand it completely. I go through that as well! During those times, I try to shift my mind to something positive by thinking of my academic goals, career goals, and play games that stimulate my mind.

@DanaMH

I've noticed that you're really struggling to find a physician that you click with. Wondering what might help you find a doctor that you are happy with. Perhaps, using a few doctor finder apps & checking reviews might help, or bringing a trusted family member or friend to your next appointment?

After such a stressful day, I think what will really help to bring mindfulness will be a hot shower🚿. Just destress and focus on a simple task and become completely blank and calm 😌
