Mindfulness Daily Check-in 27th February 2019

Hello everyone!
I hope you are well wherever you are in the world today! I wanted to share with you a breathing technique. I have used this myself and with my clients' and I have found it to be really useful.
1.Mindfulness Breathing
This exercise can be done standing up or sitting down, and pretty much anywhere at any time. If you can sit down in the meditation then this would be great but if not, that is perfectly okay!
All you have to do is be still and focus on your breath for just one minute.
* Start by breathing in and out slowly. One breath cycle should last for approximately 6 seconds.
* Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, find your own flow that works for you.
* Let go of your thoughts. Let go of things you have to do later today or those items on your to-do list that never seem to get finished. Simply let thoughts rise and fall without analysing them and become grounded with your breath.
* Watch your breathing... how does it feel and sound?
* Finally, watch with your awareness as it works work its way up and out of your body and into the universe.
Are you a person who thought that perhaps you could not meditate? Well you have made a big step towards this happening. :) I hope you can continue this daily and make it a practise.

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS thanks for the posting. :)
For some people it's hard to get enough air through the nose. They breath through the mouth. You can slow down your breathing by pressing your lips together gently while you're exhaling.
People also have different health conditions. In my very humble experience it's much more comfortable to everyone to slow down their breathing level to their very personal comfort level.
You can also do mindful breathing while lying down.
@kindSoul10 hiya hun! Good to see you. Yes mindfulness breathing can be done laying or sitting even standing I say. Also depending on the person's illness and such this might work or not. But sometimes just trying it out several times is good too.
@kindSoul10
Absolutely - it's important to always tailor any exercises as to what works best for the individual. Thank you for posting those tips as they are extremely helpful!
@LisaDeRegtMBPsS I like following my breath I focus on the in cycle as much as is comfortable and then gently let it flow out. I sometimes feel the different temperatures of the incoming and outgoing air.
Thanks for this.
@soulsings
HI Souls good your here
You are very mindful to even follow the cycle of the breathing. I am not good at that. But again I pulled my back out preventing my client from falling through a big glass window. This breathing is very good for pain management most of the time.
@soulsings
That is a great way of focusing on your breathing! Thank you!
@LisaDeRegtMBPsS
Breathing is such a helpful way to refocus. Just yesterday I was having a crazy afternoon at work so I put classroom activities on pause, called all of my kiddos over to our class rug and we did an awesome "rainbow breathing" exercise that I found on YouTube. We all relaxed and talked about how we were feeling and what our hopes were for the afternoon. It was a great way to restart and set things right for the afternoon. Thank you, Lisa!
@OneTraveler hello there
Wow
I agree with you on the breathing being a refocusing tool. I am smiling as how you got the "crazy day" to turn around with a simple YouTube video for the kids. I really am glad this worked and you all enjoyed the rest of the day. The power of mindfulness.....................
@OneTraveler
This is wonderful!! :) I am so glad you managed to get the children to do this and "Rainbow Breathing" sounds like such a great way of finding focus!
@LisaDeRegtMBPsS
Hi Lisa. That's a real nice picture, I can imagine going slowly into the water, at first it's gently going around my ankles, then going deeper and deeper, touching my tighs, my knees - smelling the sea air, taking deep breaths with closed eyes and feeling the freedom inside and around me.
I did the breathing exercise, felt cool air coming in, belly rising, chest rising, warm air going out. Could be even longer than 6 seconds when taking a very deep breath. Thanks for the exercise
@amiablePeace77 bellow yellow-oh hey hello
wow I kinda let my mind run on that mindful discription of getting into that water. My mind was anticipating swimming in the lakes and man made water holes here. Thanks for sharing here on how the breathing exercise was for you. Yes I agree when I do the longer breathing it is more then 6 seconds. Also relaxing too
Good post - excellent reminder to keep it simple!
@MissPen
Going back to the very basics is a wonderful way of moving forward in a more peaceful manner. :)
@LisaDeRegtMBPsS
Hi, Lisa! Thanks for the information!
