Ello there, Welcome to Mindfulness Center, Today is ,Saturday. Yay!!! smiley

From School to Friends, from 7Cups to work, Family to other obligations, so many things in daily life we have to focus on that it seems difficult to focus at one task at a time. Everyone seems to be conditioned to multi-task to optimize the time utilization. However, when we focus on many tasks at one time, our attention span divides and we not focus effectively on every task 100%.

Also, our mind travels in past, present and future quite often that we lack awareness of what we are doing. surprise And, it affects the quality of work we do and also we commit to make many errors. Sometimes, we miss important information to process and face difficulty in decision making. All this adds up and make us feel stressed, overwhelmed and get into negative mindset.

We need to stay mindful of our attention span. Mindfulness is about paying attention to our present moment experience with awareness. So, here's what we could do to regain control over attention and improve it by a mile.

Drink water regularly. Keeping yourself hydrated allow your attention to be better and improve your concentration. It helps you to regain control over your focus as and when you find it out of track. So, whenever you need to focus more, bring and have more water. Let mind breathe and feel fresh.

Cut the technology. To develop your attention span, now and then keep yourself away from technology. Replace your technology with other stuffs and feel better sense of concentration, better thinking and creativity.

Make best use of your time. We are not focused 100% all the time. In morning, in peak hours, focus is likely to be 100%, by afternoon it reduces to 60-70%, by evening, it reaches to 30-40% and by night your mind is fully exhausted. So, priortize your work as per the focus you need to do them. It will help you to optimize your focus as well as time usage to do the stuffs.

So, let's pay attention to attention and work to improve it.

I) How helpful you find this check-in?

II) What's your way to improve concentration?

Great tips on using time. I try this all the time. Success rate is not always what I would like it to be. But as long as I keep working at it I do show some improvement. Checkin is very helpful. Thanks.

@ASilentObserver

The concentration fading throught the day is often due to lack of brain fuel and the wrong diet.

Thanks for posting this, I will ahve a think and notice my concentration more.

@ASilentObserver thanks for this opportunity to share.

I) How helpful you find this check-in? I find it helps me reexamine my relationship and practice of being present and appreciate its subtleties.

II) What's your way to improve concentration? For me the only thing that works the best is practice and repetition.

Interesting post

Being mindful of how you function throughout the day does help you be more productive. Mornings are not the most productive for me... so I put task that are "lightweight" at the beginning-- the things that don't require a ton of thought. At 1pm to end of shift, I can get so much accomplished, tackle problems, rescue other people's projects from the fire, plus my daily work with what feels like little struggle most times.

I like low tech days... too many people have too many screens in their lives. Seldom are they all off at once. Watching some people experience a low tech day, is like watching someone with the DdTs. I think electronic convenience has surpassed being useful and become a detriment to many... not just an electronic leash but electronic addiction that sabotages the rest of their life and inhibits communication and the joys of life.

I agree... unplug. Challenge yourself to a completely electronic free weekend... see how you do.

@ASilentObserver Hi Obs! :) How are you? I hope you are having a great weekend! <3 This post is really great! Your tips on how to use mindfulness to help us concentrate really helps! I especially like how you detail how our attention spans decrease throughout the day!

I) How helpful you find this check-in?
I found this check-in to be extremely helpful as I was able to learn more about how attention span is affected by different factors and how mindfulness can help us get back on track. :)

II) What's your way to improve concentration?
My way to improve concentration is to sit somewhere comfortable and have the TV on a low volume in the background (it helps me concentrate surprisingly). If it is noisier since people are around, I use my headphones to listen to music while working, which helps a lot. I also work as much as I can when I have energy rather than pushing myself if I do not have energy. I drink water often and snack often in order to stay focused and/or awake as well.

Funny how you used the Harry Potter gif, @Redmark just posted today how they're her favourite books. I gotta say, both the movies and books are really good in my opinion smiley

But back to this post, at first the question about the helpfullness of these check-ins. Well, there's a reason why I always try to do them. I find them very helpful and very informative. It's like a daily little tidbit of info talking about a subject that I'm really interested in and love, namely mindfullness. And sometimes I get to talk with you guys about it, give my opinion a bit and stuff, and sometimes you have these fun little exercises to practise. So yeah, love these check-ins, please don't stop! I appreciate them very much heart

As for staying concentrated, usually when I find that my mind is drifting is I do some mindfull breathing. I try to acknowledge whatever it is that is distracting me. When I have done that, I'll stay in meditation for a couple of minutes, just completely focusing on my breathing. When I feel like my mind is calm and empty again, I know I can concentrate much better laugh
