A Ball Can Change the World: What's your spark?
A Ball Can Change the World: What's your spark?
in collaboration with @SoulfullyAButterfly
Sometimes change begins in the most unexpected ways, and I want to share a story where the path was not easy but small steps went a long way
It's a story of a simple sports teacher from a small town and with an extraordinary vision. In the late 1990s, he noticed a group of children playing football with a broken plastic bottle in the rain. That small moment lit a spark in him. He realized that something as simple as a ball could steer children away from drugs, violence, and hopelessness toward teamwork, discipline, and purpose.
In 2001, using his retirement money, he founded Slum Soccer, an organization that uses football to uplift underprivileged youth across his country. What started as a few kids playing in the slums of a town has now grown into a national movement, helping thousands transform their lives. Many young players have represented the country in international tournaments, proving that your birthplace doesn’t define your destiny.
Just like those children found purpose through play, each of us can find a spark that helps us rise above our own challenges - whether it’s addiction, unhealthy habits, or the weight of hopelessness.
The message is clear and powerful: Change doesn’t always begin with money, power, or privilege — it begins with compassion and belief. When one person decides to act, even a ball can become an instrument of change.
If a retired teacher could transform lives with nothing but kindness, vision, and a game, imagine what you can do with the opportunities in your hands today.
I would love to hear about your experiences
Have you ever experienced a spark (a moment, person, or experience) that made you want to change something in your life?
What kind of support or encouragement helps you move toward that change - or away from something that’s been hurting you? How can you use 7 Cups to help?
Thank you so much 🙏 @SoulfullyAButterfly for making significant contribution through you constant guidance and support for the post. Thank you for putting the soul in the content 🦋 😊

@TowardsTheR8Intent
My first spark was my first dog. She gave me the unconditional love I'd never had and the belief I could help others.
My second spark was my late husband, who was the first human to love me unconditionally and the belief to help myself.
@TowardsTheR8Intent share stories of some inspiring women too I m tired listening about men all the times thanks n good bye
Hello @AnneTheBrave thank you for sharing your perspective. I would love to share a story of women next time.
This story is beyond any gender actually. It was about the spark mainly. And even in this story, there are womens and girls too who fought their way too participate in that world Slum tournament as it was a mix team 😊. It wasn't a story of one person but the story of all. Including the mothers sisters and wife of all those players 😊
Now, you gave a spark to share a story of a women. I'll share one soon 😊
@TowardsTheR8Intent “When Light Found Its Way Back” 🌙✨
There was a time I thought light forgot my name.
The days felt heavier than they should’ve been,
and even small joys slipped through my fingers like dust.
But somehow, life has this strange, quiet way
of reaching for you when you’ve stopped reaching back.
It wasn’t a miracle that saved me —
it was the small, ordinary moments.
A friend’s laugh when I hadn’t smiled in days.
A stranger’s kindness that didn’t ask for anything.
The way the sky turned gold at sunset
as if to remind me that endings can still be beautiful.
My spark didn’t come crashing in;
it whispered —
in moments that told me,
“you’re still here,
and that means there’s still something left to become.”
Healing isn’t loud.
It’s quiet mornings where you breathe and realize
you made it through another storm.
It’s forgiving yourself
for the times you thought you weren’t enough.
I don’t know where this path leads yet,
but I know one thing —
light always finds its way back
to those who refuse to stop searching. ✨
And to @TowardsTheR8Intent — thank you.
Thank you for sharing a story that reminded me
that even the smallest spark can grow into a light strong enough to guide others.
Your words reached me in ways I didn’t know I needed,
and I’m grateful for that. 💛
Hello @goldenPresence7343! First of all you write it so beautifully 😊. I feel so connected with your words and you're so right. Light do comes who always search for it, I count myself in that list of people too.
And I am really happy to know the touched you. It means a lot 💜
There's so much to say but the emotions are quite significant right now. But I wish you all the best in life 👍. Keep writing so beautifully, I also saw a spark ✨ in your writing, which will stay with me 😊
@TowardsTheR8Intent your words truly touched me in ways I didn’t expect. 🌙
Reading your message felt like being wrapped in quiet warmth — the kind that reminds you why you started writing in the first place.
You have this rare gift of turning empathy into language — of seeing people beyond their words. Thank you for taking the time to not only read, but feel my piece. That means more than I can say. 💜
Your story and your spirit carry light — not the blinding kind, but the gentle one that stays, that heals. I’m honestly so grateful our paths crossed here. ✨
@goldenPresence7343 🙏👏🤝💕😊
