An idea or a help for a hoarder?
I'm a hoarder...cause I grew up with some. I've been trying to get my life under control but that starts with my room. I've been playing with the idea of somehow live streaming my room clean up so that I have accountability buddies in the internet. I don't know. When I'm doing something else and cleaning I feel so much more productive.does anyone have any ideas. I just want my room to be fixed and organized and not the disaster I'm currently living in
@MoonP - I think that's a really cool idea! If you like having accountability partners, you could also grab a listener here for that and message them when you get rid of X number of things or commit to something each day and let them know at the end of the day how it went.
I'd be happy to help if you want! :)
Hi there @MoonP
So sorry I missed your post. I think it might be a great idea to film your clean-up and you could replay it to yourself every time you need some inspiration
Do let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone, Just thought I'd message to see how things are going. Do drop into the forum, we'd love to hear from you.
Lucy2 :-)
@lucy2 I just posted something .. my husband hates me seeking help on this site. I think it is very unfair
Hi there @TransAm85
I'm so sorry your husband feels that way, that must be quite hard for you. You have friends, supporters and listeners here to help as well as those in a similar situation as yourself, sharing their tips and personal stories. I hope you can stay in touch but completely understand if you can't.
Take care

@lucy2 Of course I am going to stay on here, it is just frustrating to me how he can be so childish. I read something called the "Control Paradox" I think that suits him. He is jealous or just insecure?
Hi,
wondering if there's anyone out there in the same situation as me or understood. I'm 22 I found out I was pregnant in January we decided we were so excited we told everyone to early, Im not sure what happened and don't want to know what happened from the doctors. Ever since then I've been evaluating all the bad things I've done in the past that much that I'm even making up things in my head, it's killing me inside and I just don't know how to get over this :(
@MoonP
There are facebook support groups for clutter where people post before and after photos of the places they've cleaned up and can ask for help/cleaning tips on the private group (link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/hcSupportGroup/). I like using habitRPG which is like a gamified to do list (link: https://habitica.com). I hope this helps these are just a few resources I've stumbled upon from my research.
Hey thank you @Brinarae
Appreciate your tips. It would be great if you could add our forum on your journeys https://www.7cups.com/forum/HoardingSupport_92/ and hopefully that would bring more hoarders together here on 7cups, supporting each other.

I do one project at a time...it's hard.it seems like when I clean up one room another gets messy. Take stuff to goodwill. Get a bulky pickup from your local garbage company. Ask a friend or relative to help..
He thanks @Tloves
Really good tips there and welcome to Caregivers support, great you have joined us

Hi @lucy2 thanks for checking in! I am doing fine, I ended up breaking up with my partner who was a hoarder. It was what I needed. It turns out that he was very manipulative etc and went on to use those tactics against other women. I'm glad I got out and I'm on to bigger and better things!
Hi @yallahs I'm so glad to hear that, best of luck :-)
Lucy2
@lucy2 thank you for checking up on me. I just moved into a new house and most of my things are in storage for my college dorm, but as I lay in my bed at home for the summer and notice how empty it is. i really like how open and spacious it feels. Hopefully I can do the same for my college dorm this fall.
Hi @Elinxs27 Great to hear from you.
So glad you liking the 'space'
All the best

Hi everyone, I'd like to know what you think about a guided discussion meeting here on 7cups, would YOU be interested in chatting with others in the same situation?
Let me know and I can soon arrange this for you all
what do you say?
Lucy2
Hi everyone
@MoonP @Brinarae @Tloves @wonderfulIcicle35 @yallahs @braveKitten4951 @odetopie20 @Elinxs27
How are you guys any news and tips for us to offer others?
Lucy2
@MoonP
I have been hoarding things for as long as I can remember. But this past year I've come up with a system to help me get rid of some things. Every month I put a ton of stuff in a big tub or box and move it to the corner of my room. Over the next month, anything I find myself looking for, I can take out. Anything left on the last day has to go. It's hard but it helps when you know this sin't even stuff you've thought about in a month.
Excellent tip @UntilThen
Thanks for sharing. So how much would you say you've managed to get rid of this ?
Lucy2
@lucy
I've been doing this about a year. My space is pretty clean. Lots of stuff still but much more manageable. The first few months I only was able to get rid of like half the stuff in the tub but it's gotten easier.
That sounds so brilliant and effective @UntilThen
We need to spread the word
that's an awesome tip and thank you for sharing.
