2023 Smalls Award Winners!
As you all know, 7 Cups is an ever-evolving community founded on compassion, learning and giving back, and it takes the efforts of the entire community to further build up and sustain those beliefs and continually empower one another.
The last 10 years tell the story of each one of us and how we connected to Cups and it transformed our lives as a community. Through thick and thin, solving problems, collaborating, healing, and flourishing, and all of it require a “can-do” attitude.
The Smalls Award is a badge created after Laura Small to honor her legacy and can-do attitude. It is a yearly award and ritual started in 2019 with Laura as its first recipient.
To expand recognition efforts and in the spirit of the decade milestone, we are thrilled to announce 3 winners who epitomize the can-do mindset. Here they are in no particular order:
@CheeryMango - The Subcom Coordinator who influenced and further structured and strengthened subcommunities. Their contributions to the subcommunities are immeasurable and have made a lasting impact. They have persevered through difficult times, and have emerged stronger and more determined than ever. They have proven that with grit and the right attitude, anything is possible. They have shown us that we can achieve our goals if we are willing to put in the effort and never give up.
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou - Most of us know them as Sunnie and they’re living up to their name and shining everywhere on Cups with their contributions. Sunnie has a big heart and a lot of passion for their work on 7 Cups. They are friendly, kind, and supportive to all they encounter and we are so proud of all the work they have accomplished in our community so far. Their unique perspective, attention to detail, and ability to capture the essence of subject matter in such a profound way were all hallmarks of their exceptional talent. They are an inspiration to all of us through inspiring leadership and we are deeply grateful to them for brightening our days.
@Beck1 - Back has a passion for hosting thought-provoking discussions for members and listeners. She started as a room supporter in the disability community and now has progressed into being someone who made a difference in the community.
Since becoming an Adult Teen Listener, she has worked closely on the teen side, promoting safety and ensuring teens feel safe in making decisions such as reporting. Beck1 also has provided valuable encouragement as Chat Support and Peer Support, ensuring that everyone has their questions answered in LSR and feels confident in their listening abilities. She has maintained an open and accepting mindset and continued to seek additional areas where she can provide support. Thank you Beck1, for doing what you do, it's appreciated, and I cannot thank you enough. We are so excited to see how you progress in your journey on 7 Cups.

Each one with a very different personality, background and focus. But all three are archetypes of the can-do attitude this award recognizes.

Mango: Indeed you have persevered overcoming any sort of difficulties in order to achieve a game-changer improvement in the Communities, making them much more transparent and accessible, particularly for newcomers to 7 Cups.
This has been attracting increasingly lots of new people to seek support in the Forums.
I am very much a forum person, and I can attest to the huge power of Forums for building lasting networks of mutually supportive people with the same issues. How much they value it and how healing it is for them.
You are making available this hugely valuable and previously under-utilized resource to the new hundreds who now join and participate in the Forums every month.
The new Communities format is already a great success in these terms, but this is just the beginning. Your efforts in making this change will fructify for the years to come, with a "snowball effect", making the Communities even larger, more engaging and more supportive to increasingly larger numbers of Members. This is a great contribution to the 7 Cups Mission of supporting the best possible the most people possible.

Hi, Beck!
I have known you for a few months now, and you really surprised me. I loved from the start your enthusiastic, friendly, proactive attitude. A joy interacting with you.
And then, like those huge rockets that start moving very slow at launch, then a bit faster, and then faster and faster, accelerating continuously....
At some point you look, and they are cruising space at tens of thousands of kilometers per hour.
Wow! What happened?
All the fuel was there from the start. It was a matter of consistently applying it. Expanding what's possible bit by bit, nonstop, continuously.
You have that energy and consistency.
And a golden heart, full of love and compassion. Always willing to help in any possible way.
Your contributions are now huge and multi-faceted, on all fronts. As Heather points out, in these few months, you have become "someone who makes a difference in the community".
Congratulations on this super well-deserved recognition, which I hope motivates you further to continue growing, and growing and growing, until, who knows? The sky is the limit for you, Beck!

You deserve any recognition we might think of.
All of them. No single one is enough for your contributions. Something has to be invented to match them. Maybe 7 Cups Divinity? Superpower? The Colossus?
I am out of words, friend. What alleviates my fruitless search for the words you deserve, is that (it seems to me) you receive a prize from your own self in everything you do, in the form of a great satisfaction from doing good, from supporting someone, and cheering up us all.
Aristotle said that virtue resides in enjoying doing right, good things. The virtuous person not only does good, but gets pleasure and satisfaction from doing what's good. In this sense, you are the archetype of Virtue, to the highest degree I know in any person.

Marcelo, you amaze me but not in a "how unbelievable?" way~ you amaze me in a very, "yeah no, definitely looking forward to how else they can level up being their amazing self, it's such a given they'll do, would be fun seeing *how* and basking in their warm glow" way and rightly so, you simply keep leveling up every time. ❤

I might be coming across as repetitive, but they say you need to reiterate the good so it stays longer and with that~ Marcelo, I'm so very inspired with your ability to *highlight* people, you have the most amazing words to support your thoughts, and you're always super generous in doing so. Your ability to *see* people and tell them that you do, is beyond incredible!
Simply put, you've got me a precious gift in this message to include in my little "pick me up" box, and I treasure your kindness always!
