How this book reminds me of cups

@DemiMondaine  @jesusredeemedme2425 @AnnaSilverberg @amiablePeace77 @fossilfellow @SolitaryBird @adventurousBranch3786 can someone tag tinywhisper for me I do  not remember the whole username,  @Heather225 and a big shout out to glen for making cups happen and all work  glen does behind the scenes @GlenM

This book Pay It Forward makes me think of cups a lot.

Pay it Forward is about a boy who got an extra credit assignment to come up with a Plan to improve the world and tells about his journey through the book. Even though he got killed he left a lasting impression on his community.

 Here is how it reminds cups.

1 make a plan to improve the world. 7 cups doing everything it can to make the world a better place out of pure kindness.

2  For those who do not know the phrase pay it forward, it means if someone does something kind to you you should pay the kindness forward.  The first example is if a member has a positive experience getting help that makes the member want to become a listener to give back to others. The last example is when members and listeners have a good time on cups they decide to pick up leadership roles to give back to the community.

 Right now I am looking at the themes of this book I can see all the themes connected to this book.  Some of the themes are love and connection, collective responsibility, forgiveness and redemption,  generational healing, social change, self-discovery and growth and a lot more that I do say.  I see all this in cups.   Another important thing. What I saw in this book that is connected to cups is the ability to transform. Some points of transformation you can see in both places transformation of a person, social transformation and transformation of perception.

I will end this forum post with 3 questions that can make u think.

1  If a small act of kindness was done. On you will you pay forward that kindness to another?

2 If you were given that assignment to make a plan to improve the world what would you do? ( it can not be cup-related).

3 what can you do on cups that would make a difference in someone's day through an act of kindness?

I recommend the book.

@Reachingforthestars00 Thankyou for recommending the book! ❤️

1) if a small act of kindness was done. On you will you pay forward that kindness to another.

Yes.

2) If you were given that assignment to make a plan to improve the world what would you do? (it can not be cup-related)

I would try to make people aware of the internet and how much it can effect young ones if not done under supervision and lack of knowledge and harm from the things they see/do even online.

3)what can you do on cups that would make a difference in someone's day through an act of kindness?

A simple message and a wish can make big difference in someone's life sometimes as I've felt the same when it was done for me and it means a lot. ❤️

@Reachforthestars00  I remember that book; although I never got around to reading it I know of its premise, so it's nice to get your recommendation on it, Reach. You're right about Cups; it is a place for transformation and growth, which begins with self-inquiry and self awareness - always challenging to do. It's very much easier to ask why other people won't change behaviour, when our own needs addressing. But I digress: you've raised some very thought provoking questions which I'll now have a look at.

1. Reciprocal kindness: I can't see any reason not to; I view kindness not as transactional but multiplicative, i.e. you don't give it to get it, but see one act of kindness as forming a much bigger branching network, if everyone goes on to do just one act.

2. Plans for changing the world: that's a tough one, I'll need more caffeine before I can reflect adequately, but any plan needs to begin with self-change, which then radiates outwards

3. Here on Cups, it's acknowledgement. Making others feel seen. Too often there's a 'bystander effect' (this is true in life too) where everyone is waiting for someone else to make the first move: we all end up looking to each other for social cues, when anyone can respond.

Thanks for posting this one Reach; you read at a prolific rate and we all benefit from it.

@Reachforthestars00

Thank you for this post!

1. If a small act of kindness was done. On you will you pay forward that kindness to another?

Yes, I will. When I was working and had a successful day, I would always give away something but in general I do at least 5 things for others every day, sometimes little things like letting someone go in front of me at the cashier or with the car.

2 If you were given that assignment to make a plan to improve the world what would you do? ( it can not be cup-related). I would implement mindfulness in kindergartens and schools and make it obligatory for parents to learn to deal with stress.

3 what can you do on cups that would make a difference in someone's day through an act of kindness?

I hope that I am contributing to make a difference in people's day by hosting discussions with other hosts.

@Reachforthestars00 great post 💖💖

1- on 7 cups I've been helped in more ways than I could ever count, so I try to answer as many forums as I can to make sure everyone knows they are heard. I've also been shown a lot of kindness since I was rescued so I give back by listening to older folks here at the care home and learning everything I can, I also donate money to charities especially around xmas💖😁

2- when I'm braver and able to (or coming to the end of this life) I want to spread the word and speak up against slavery and cults. I can't yet or I'll end up like the guy in the book🙁

3- on cups I try to make everyone feel heard to listen to people to greet them and try make people smile 💖

@Tinywhisper11 not that one Tiny, it's a challenge specifically to encourage frequent forum posting, to foster further engagement and participation, and it runs continuously. The birthday greetings one is time limited and it's a one-off.
