Why is it so hard for people to accept diversity? Why do they despise anything they can't understand?

I know I am not the easiest person to understand or talk to and I don't expect it. If you don't feel comfortable with me, if you are not willing to aproach me with an open and positive attitude, if you just think I am a weirdo you don't want to deal with, you are not forced to! ...but, at least, leave me alone and respect me.
